This number has called me 3 times in the past week. I don't answer and they don't leave a message. Can you help?

This crazy number call me every day, I dont answer, because in the passed, I answer a numer, I dont know, and I was charge £10...

The same number phoned me and asked me about an ad for a car I had
for sale on gumtree. He was not from the uk mabey Poland  something like
that when I told him it was sold he said thanks and hung up. After Reading this I looked at my o2 bill and had not been charged anything.

Got a call from this number about a bike I had just bout dont know if they got info from gumtree or ebay but I did not have the bike advertised hence I think ebay. No charge as far as I could tell but phone only lasts about 12 seconds. Recently advertised on gumtree also and they have phoned 3 times so far in the end up I blocked the number

This number called me about an ad i had on gumtree!
they are SCAMMERS!!
They offer you over the amount of money for the item and for the postage,
They use an excuse not to collect but do not tell you where you are sending to.

They make out they have paid you into your paypal by sending FAKE confirmation email  but the email is not real!!!
you then find out you are having to post to Nigeria.

When you then tell them you refuse to send that far they send abusive emails and call you constantly!!

I phoned pay pal to see if the money had gone into my account as i was about to offer a refund. Paypal then told me that no money had been put into my account and they confirmed it was fraud!!

They are very cleaver people and try to make you believe that everything is right
I can confidently assure you 110% that they are 1st class fraudsters.

I have reported them to paypal!!!

Even if you are desperate to sell your item DO NOT sell to these people you will get NO money and loose you item, Tell them that it is sold and then hang up!!!

Pay pal Scammers!!!

Been phoned three time today. The first time I answered and it went quiete and then I got a ringing tone as though I was making a call so I cut off straight away. I'm putting this down to a Gumtree ad that I placed recently. When I saw someoene else had posted about Gumtre I put two and two together. Not that I blame Gumtree, someone phoned up within ten minutes of me placing the ad and bought my fridge!

I sent this email nearly a year ago to no avail. Ring up your phone suppliers and
have your phones "premium line barred" Only they can do it. One of the places they
harvest telephone numbers from is advertisements. Circulate this to as many people
as you can including children and elderly relatives

Dear Watchdog

Some time ago I had an ad on Gumtree. A few days after I had sold the items I had
a phone call asking if the items were still for sale. Nothing unusual about this you
might think, however when I gave the phone back to my wife she said " that's a funny
phone number".
The number was 18014000.
She checked her credit on the phone and it was 98p less than the night before and
no phone calls had been made in between.
When we got home I googled "18014000 telephone number " on my computer and
lo and behold there are loads of people from all over the world asking what these 1801
numbers are all about. Some going back to Feb 2010. Quite a few speculative answers.
I contacted Vodafone to see what this is all about and was told that by answering
the call I had accepted a transfer to a premium line. They refunded the 98p.
The person who called me spoke very good english but with an asian accent and
there was a lot of background chatter. I suspect someone has taken over a redundant
call centre to perpetrate this scam.
It's all very subtle, a call that in itself raises no suspicions, takes a relatively small amount
of cash that probably won't be missed so can go on for a long time before being rumbled.
The question is, how many millions have they scammed in the last 2 years?
I thought I would alert a popular newspaper ( The Mirror ) to notify as many people as
possible in the least amount of time in case the scammers switched to high value
premium lines in a last ditch attempt to maximise their take before being closed down.
Guess what? A big fat zilch, nothing.
So this set me off thinking,
a) do the phone companies know about this scam, and since they get a percentage from
   premium lines are quite happy to see it go on
b) did The Mirror find out that the phone companies know about it so that if they brought
   it out into the open the end result would be a large reduction in their advertising revenues
   from the phone companies

I think the whole lot stinks and the poor consumer gets taken for a ride.
I would have contacted Ofcom but they have no email address because they don't want to
hear from the likes of the common man. Sack the lot and put something consumer friendly
in it's place.

We have had all our phones premium line barred ( texts as well )
Since you have to go to your phone company to get your phone premium line barred
wouldn't it be a good idea if the default setting on all new phones was premium lines barred?
