Just got a third call from a person claiming to be from the "Consumer Research Company". The Caller-ID shows up as: 002135371000

00213 is Algeria
53 is the Wataniya Telecom Algerie (WTA) (a mobile network)
71000 has too few digits to be from this country (apparently).

Maybe the caller is using Caller-ID Spoofing ?

Any other suggestions would be helpful...

the caller put the phone down just as i answered. This has happened a number of times over a week.

I received the same calls for the past two weeks afternoon & eveings

Yes,I have received calls at least twice a day from the same number. Am normally pretty careful about who has my home number so I wonder which company has just sold their database? Hate cold calling.

I received a couple of calls today from this unknown number 0021-353-71000 - they left no message.  

I'm on the Telephone Preference Register and I don't want any of this garbage, but most days, I still get one or two silent calls and/or marketing calls from various commercial slime who just ignore the preference register entry.

Nowadays, I don't answer the landline phone during daytime - up to 1900. I simply check BT 1571 for voice messages and if there are none, so be it, obviously wasn't imporatnt, or, more likely, they were cold calls or silent calls.

Had a call today from this number, phone went dead when I answered.

Yesterday I had what appeared to be a genuine call from a company called
The Leadership Factor conducting a survey about my car insurance company.

I wonder if there could be a connection?????

Phone went dead as soon as it was answered.  Nuisance.

They have phoned us 3 times now and they have never spoken to us. Twice we weren't in, and the third they put the phone down.

Contacted BT 'nuisance call' line.  They believe this number is belongs to an international telesales organisation.  The BT call centre was very helpful but stated that they cannot block international calls.  Most irritating! Technology is clearly not as advanced as I thought!  Anyone know of any alternative blocking techniques? Z6A6

Several calls this week from this number. Each time I answer the line goes dead. This frightens old people, including my mother who has also received calls from the same number

Just been called yet again by this number but actually spoke to a lady who said she was in the phillipines & from 'The Consumer Research Centre'.
she was ringing on behalf of some of the UK's leading brands. When I asked what brands she replied 'Thomas Sanderson conservatory blinds@ and 'Trust Inheritance' who are a will writing company.
I would advise anybody fed up with these calls to approach those 2 companies direct & complain about their marketing strategy. I will be contacting them both in the next few minutes with my complaint! If enough people complain maybe they'll stop.

I have had a few silent cals from this number but have never spoke to anybody. What do they actually ask for? Do they want Information or to sell you something?

I've had several calls from this number, but the caller rings off if I pick up. Is it one of those scams where it costs a fortune if you call back ? Needless to say I haven't called back !

Had several calls from this number and each time the line just goes dead when I answer.  Traced it back to Algeria as others have done but no other record as to who owns the number or who it is calling me as they never speak!

This number calls me and will not stop ringing until I pick up the phone. However, when I DO pick up the phone, they hang up straight away.

They must be taking the piss out of me because they simply will NOT ringing until I answer, then they hang up and call again straight after.

Sheer stupidity.

Had a call from this number.  Same problem, they hang up once I pick up the phone.  Shame on BT and the Regulator that they can't do anything about it.

i had a call from this number and a foreign sounding woman asked for my dad. i told her that he wasn't in but she kept asking for him an who i was, then she just hung up. very strange.

Have also been getting calls from this number. Each time I answer the caller hangs up. I thought it was unusual, because normally dialing 1471 after this sort of call produces 'We do not have the caller's number to return the call'! I'm also registered with the Telephone Preference Service, but this seems to be no defence against these.
