Unable to hear anything when I answered the call. When I called the number back, I got a recorded message that it was British Gas calling on a non urgent matter!
Very annoying.

got call from 01189040797 saying there was a call waiting for me and to press any key to reply did not.who is this from please

So have I. Really did my head in. Checked number and it's Britosh Gas with a non-urgent message

had this call twice now pick up just silence

it is for a  feedback survey on how britsh gas person you called handled your query/problem etc.

They made a right mess of my kitchen when the boiler went. bad boys! funny how they never rang me sfter lol

I picked up and it was silent but I had just made a call with a query to British gas so could be them. They should have made sure there was someone on the end to speak to me as they had been very helpful and this is just annoying I won't answer next time

It is British gas,about renewing your gas meter.

No chance that I will "press any key " to receive a call. It may be one of those that connects and charges you £s as a scam

It is an automated survey from British Gas following a customer service call earlier in the day.

One thing that must be said about British Gas is that they provide a web facility to verify numbers claiming to theirs.   It is at http://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-advice/c ... e-call-you.html          Unfortunately it says the number is NOT one of theirs.     Do they need to update their records?

Yeah I had call from British gas on a 0800 num ten mins before this num called me , so must be something todo with them.To much of a coincidence not to be as most of you have mentioned them.Im not even a b gas customer lol.

yes I phoned British Gas for a Quote on a Central heating contract and 30 mins later I received a phone call from this number 01189040797

Yes I believe it is British gas - I spoke with customer services today about switching energy companies and 30 minutes later I received a call from this no asking me to "press a key" etc,  Of course....I didn't!

picked up phone said hello. recorded message said they did not recognise response and cut call off

15 minutes after british gas calling me and asking them to remove my number and to leave me alone, they called again from this number!

Reading other comments, it seems this number is from British Gas.  
Called them earlier to request information.  About 15 minutes later, received a cold call.  
Too much of a coincidence, very annoying and counter-productive.

Like Stepag in January I had a call on an 0800 number asking about my service plan. He gave me a load of incorrect information about my plan. He also talked about nectar points  & that he had a new offer for me. I ended call . Two minutes later a call came through from 0118904079 asking me to press any key to connect with a 'caller waiting'.
