Called at 01:30 this morning. Rushed to phone in case of family emergency. It stopped before I got to it. Now finds it's some stupid company We Solve IT in Wolverhampton.

Lets all ring them on a mobile number somebody else has supplied in the early hours of the morning

I was called at 02:00 this morning and like mikew thought it was something dire but it stopped before I could answer.  Checked We Solve IT website and they have this explanation:
Apology 6th March 2012

"We are aware that a number of people are complaining about our phone number calling them.

We are very sorry our number has called you.
Our phone company is looking into it.


Apparently our phone number has been hacked/spoofed and
our number is calling people at a rate of 1000 per hour.

It is not coming from us or our phone system but from somewhere in eastern Europe.


We are doing our best to get to the bottom of it, but as it’s largely out of our control.
We can only apologise again for the inconvenience it’s caused you and assure you it was not our doing."

called at 10 to 1 this morning

Got call about 2.45am today,( 9March 7th), rung off by time I reach 'phone.  I rang back and got answering machine saying this number had been "hacked."   What will I be charged for calling back this number please?

Called this evening at 7:45. When anwered I just get a message that the extension is invalid.

Elderly close relative received call at 11 15 pm getting her out of bed. It rang off  and she spent the night worrying about family.
I don't care about your  company problems with hacking or anything else...you have no right to be holding our telephone numbers...we do not give companies such as yourselves permission to use our phone numbers which are ex directory so explain that one..
I am absolutely sick and tired of cold callers so the sooner the law protects our privacy and the privacy of our elderly residents, the better.

Called at 00:08 on Thursday morning. Just a dialing tone when I picked it up. Fully agree with "Fed up with cold callers." regarding their right to have my number, as I am also ex directory, and a member of TPS.
