An Indian man called me from this number.  I put the phone down immediately as I believe he was connected to a scam I fell victim to earlier this week.  A caller rang me saying he was from Microsoft and told me they had received error warnings from my IP address + that my windows license had expired - to cut a 3 hour story short, he was so convincing I gave him access to my entire life.

I strongly advise you to put the phone down on this number and be very wary of a company called Nirvanas or Comantra E Solutions.

Saturday 9.50am. Asian female ringing about my computer.  Line was very bad and could hardly hear. Asked her if she was based in Manchester and she put the phone down. Mustn't think much of Manchester.

Just had a call from this number some foreign woman saying she was calling about my computer and something about Windows package when I asked her how she had go my number as we are ex-directory and have TPS she said from their database I asked her again how she had got my phone number and and it was none of her business if I had a computer or not she promptly cut me off. I'm sick and fed up of these calls and surely they can be stopped?

The reason the calls can't be stopped by TPS and ICO is that the number is fake. 01234 12345 is a really poor fake, just like 01234567890.  The calls are from India and are, of course, a scam.  The Microsoft website has a warning about the scam and tells younthat anyone cold calling like this is a scammer.  There are no exceptions.  If you want to stop all nuisance calls, fake numbers or real ones, then you need a call blockier or a call blocking 'phone.  Check out Amazon or Argos.  I  use the BT8500 'phone and have not had a single nuisance call in the three+ months I have had it.  Any calls which try to get through are shown on my call log and I come on here to check out who has tried to call.

It amazes me that with all the publicity about scams that people are still falling for them, but then they wouldn't bother would they? I have a Panasonic phone that has a similar function acting as a a call blocker both for individual numbers and also for ranges of numbers. Once you have blocked a number the phone will not ring if they try again. The best thing is to put in all the numbers who might legitimately phone you and just not answer ANY unrecognised number - let the answerphone pick them up and if it is someone you do want to speak to then and only then pick up. Works a treat.

It is surprising how many people will give out personal information to an unknown caller.  Perhaps it is partly because it is a common thing on social media.  In addition older people can be very trusting and cannot understand how people 'pho ning them and seeming to help are, in fact, going to steal from them.  A lot of scammers target the elderly because of this.
I have heard that the Panasonic 'phone is good and anything which blocks these pests gets my vote.  I have given all my contacts a different ring tone to normal, so I now know without looking if I want the call.  Otherwise it never rings.

Steady on, mate! "Older people"? "Social media"! Let's not get our metaphorical knickers in a twist or we'll all be as sick as a parrot, after all, it's a game of two halves but the side scoring more goals is likely to finish in front, at the end of the day; personally, I'd have brought on the subs earlier, once they'd flooded the pitch, but what do I know? Get it in the back of the net my son, GAME ON!

Why not be brave and find your own nom de plume, or is an ! the best you can do?  Perhaps it would also help if you could read.  Did you note the words  "partly" and "In addition"?  That denotes more than one reason and more than one age group of people falling for scams.

Sadly, the faker is not as brave as Spartacus as can only copy other people's names.

Called from this number 8am today. Didn't answer as all my known contacts have a special ringtone, so don't answer any other. Anything important or urgent can be left on answer phone, not surprisingly none ever are  !
