log 4 rescue compagnie scam indian accent men want to fix computer so enter into my laptop and now already my surname and telephone number , he as to see all the errors and warnings and say a technicien will fix all of them for me and it s free but ask email adress, also first name...
he ask me to enter the www.logmein123.com but say he is from a guenine microsoft comgany called log 4 rescue and his name was eddy

Got a call from this number. Indian man said he was calling as a response to a report I had logged with Microsoft. Told me he could resolve the problem and for a fee (£60.00) I could have a years access to their log4rescue service. As I thought they were acting on behalf of Microsoft I went allong with it. (SILLY ME) He talked his way into getting remote control of my PC and said he had detected several problems which would result in a fatal crash of my entire system. He then went on to remove them. After he had finished he said my PC would be fine now (HA HA). I asked him why my desktop had lost its background picture, he said it would be back if I did a restart.He then ended the call. After restarting I still had no picture and was missing some Icons. My photo file had lost all its thumbnails (just got icons) My wireless link would not work and I had great dificulty getting on line.I phoned him back and asked WHY? and he tried to get me to give him control of my PC again. (NO WAY) I hung up. He phoned me three more times trying to get me to let him back into my PC and sounded none to pleased that I would not. I have resolved all problems with the help of DELL (my computer manufacturer) who asked me to back up all files & documents then ring them back so they could reset my hard drive to factory settings. Can't fault dell on their service & signed up for a years cover.
Unfortunately I am still £60.00 out of pocket to log4rescue.
I paid via PayPal and set up a dispute with them for goods supplied not as stated, but got nowhere with that, they said they could not guarantee the quality of goods supplied.

Think I have yust been had too.  What to do next....feel so STUPID.  All sounded so real

Sorry you got had like I was. Have put down loss of money to experience , seems there is no way of getting a refund. (They are in it to con you, and and that is just what they do.) I have had no problems since re-installing hard drive, but if you do this, make sure to back up all your important info.docs. & photos or you will lose them.(I backed up to DVD and Digi-stick just in case) Best of luck.

Thanks for this.  I am trying to get refund......well you have to try.  I still feel so stupid.  But I hope I have learned a lesson, and I don't get fooled again.  Wish these people could be stopped.  So If anyone else out there reading this my internet provider said that companys should not cold call like this be afraid and don't entertain them. Take care.

Well I tried to raise log4rescue on 01274790083.....guess what nobody answerd the phone.  Looks like they took money and ran.
The BT Tech guys have checked my computer...all seems well.
So I guess I've done all I can do, I had already sorted security issues with my bank.
So lesson learned.
Wonder what they will call themselves next.
Beware all.

Got another call today from Indian man saying I had reported problems to Microsoft |& he could fix them. BEWARE They are still at it.
