It's a publishing company selling advertising as well as hard selling events. They are extremely pushy, fringing rudeness and impertinence. We have complained in writing on numerous occasions for years and even phoned them asking them to stop harassing us. They just keep phoning again and again. We have reverted to not answer their calls and just put the phone down. They are a huge waste of time. They say they are phoning on behalf of The Cabinet, The Crown Estate, The Carbon Trust, the United Nations.

Agreed, they use great tactics saying they are just about to go into a meeting to clinch a possible government contact for you.  Googled their number while they were talking to me, hence then cut them off, however, they do continue to call.  I find a high pitched sound down the line stops them calling it hurts their ears.

Yes, it is a company called PSCA, I have had them call me and say they were collecting information with regards to a government contract. They sent me a quote to be included in this publication, it was over 7K!!, they reduced it by half but still too much. They continued to call and call, then was passed onto another department which was their collections! It also turned out that the 'government comissioned article' was just a quote in a paid advert that they make out to be articles. They are now trying to take me to court to collect the invoice! Big con company and should be shut down! My advice, don't be nice like me and carry on speaking to them, hang up now whilst you have the chance and block calls. Anyone else with similar story put it here!

Scot dialect guy invited me to write a contribution to a high profile policy publication. Got suspicious when told they needed agreement today because of some urgent editorial deadline while trying to negotiate page charges upfront... When I told them persistently I needed approval from line manager for authorising payments they hung up on me.

    hi folks,

Got a call from this "organiation" today - as i am running a business from home i often get sales calls so i am naturally suspicious.  Googled it and got these posts - when they called back later that day i was ready for them.  i let the guy go through his sales pitch about Scottish Government and blah blah blah and eventually got him to put it in one sentence - he is selling spaces at confrences.

I simply told him like this

A: he had got his facts wrong about my company (i am in fact a sole trader)
B: That I was not looking to spend my hard earned cash on confrences
C: That I had put the phone number into google and came up with a whole host of posts basically explaining how your are a sales channel and for this reason I am not interested and do not wish to be called again

on hearing this he immediately said fair enough and kindly rung off

I will pot again if they call back

I have been swapping e-mails with Gordon Warrender who heads this company.  I am staggered that there are so many other folk who have taken the time to express their dissatisfaction with his business.

We have been phoned many times after advising Warrender that our company should be removed from his lists.  He provides categoric assurances and then ignores them.  His staff write him illiterate e-mails which he forwards on.

I have now taken on the responsibility of doing all that I can to get the authorities to recognise the antics of this business.  My hope is that severe sanctions can be imposed because although Warrender is smart, and remarkably arrogant, his business has to comply with the laws of the land.

If you would like to contribute towards this action, please contact slowmo45TR@yahoo.com.

Many of these postings are from genuine businesses that have been called too often after having been asked to be put on a manual suppression list. Unfortunately, this list only works when used correctly. In order to counteract the problem of employees not using the list properly, the company is now about to invest in number suppression technology which will completely remove this issue and bar the phone system from calling listed numbers. However, there are many postings on this site that are distasteful, malicious, unfair and untrue written obviously by people who clearly believe it is ok to leave personal insults. These people are rude, unprofessional and it is their aim to harm PSCA as a business and gain personally as a result because they work in rival organisations. We know who these people are and the companies involved, we will not lower ouselves to their level. If this site was credible, it would not allow posts of this nature and bar the offending IP addresses from posting again in the future. Unfortunately it is not. Any future postings of this nature say more about the person leaving the comment than it does about us, whilst there is undoubtedly a problem with call suppression we need to address, it also says that we are getting many things right if other publishing and events companies and individuals within those companies continue to be obsessed by us. If you have a genuine concern and wish to be added to the list, email donotcall@publicservice.co.uk and your request will be actioned.

I am pretty sure that the above post was written by Wendy Wood, the Chief Operating Officer at PSCA.

It might interest you to know that Ms Wood included the following sentence in an e-mail that she sent to me on the 22nd September:

We are an aggressive sales organisation, selling advertising and sponsorship is not an easy business and some companies will not appreciate being sold to forcefully but we do not and will not apologise for taking our business very seriously.

I have done my best to explain to Ms Wood that an order should be the natural outcome of a sales negotiation since there are mutual benefits.  I am not certain she understood.  Nonetheless, she did seek to impress on me the quality of PSCA products, bizarrely by telling me that:

To put this into perspective and get it into context, our sales team consists of the following:

70 people making 50 calls per day = 3500 per day
    5 days = 17500 calls per week
In addition, our marketing team send out over 250,000 emails every day

To my mind, this simply tells me that the products are probably dreadful because there must be plenty of companies telling them 'no', many repeatedly. Their turnover is modest and the latest set of accounts comes with a cautionary note from the auditor questioning their ability to continue operating as a going concern.

PSCA what a joke replies to Director of PSCA
What you're saying is an absolute joke!!

Of course you know who's these people are who are posting these comments...its the disgruntled people you keep harrising with your incesant calls. Don't try and pass it off as being a malicious rival of yours.

You are an immoral company filled with con-artists!! Rather than being honest when calling companies, telling them what it is you want, you come up with cockamamey lies...."I spoke to so and so this morning about this and that project, he's really interested in what I have to offer but said I should speak to the MD....he'll know what it's about"...."really, he's not in....I really need to speak to him, like yesterday cos today's the deadline".
If you could only hear yourselves!! Last week I got a call every single day from Gordon Love, but funnily enough every time he called he left a voicemail. When he finally managed to get hold of me on Thurs he said that he has just been faxed a very important document and needed to speak to the MD as the deadline was that day. I asked him, if you only received the document this morning why have you been calling me all week. He denied this and said he hasn't been calling. It was only when I confronted him and said that I have the voicemails on my phone to prove that he did he replied, "oh yeah I did you call yesterday". Whatever!! Despite the FACT that he did call every day, admitting that he called the day before was enough as this just proved that he was lying about this so called document. If you only received it that morning, unless he is pshycic, why would he have been calling me the day before??!!! Did he have a reply? No!! caught out!!

I knew exactly where he was calling from (which I did tell him, but still the nob head wouldn't put down the phone) so said that if he wanted to prove that he's calling from a geniune, honest company, if he wanted he could send through this document or some info, I would pass it on and then the MD can make up his own mind if he wanted to speak to them the next time they called. What a lame excuse I was given...you had no email or internet that day. Well, you're fax was working but he didn't think about that did he!! Caught out again!!

Told him when the issue with the internet is resolved to email it through to me..."oh, ok, yeah I'll do that". again, if the deadline was that day and he didn't know when you'd get access to emails why would he be sending this info on when it would be too late. Caught out!!

I don't know how you are making any money if you've got brain dead people who lie so badly and come up with the lamest of excuses working for you....probably because some people are just stupid and gullible and every day you get a good old laugh that you've managed to con another innocent person. Remember, karma is a b1tch and you're going to get bit by it really hard one day!!!

We purchased some advertising form publicservice.co.uk and then came across this site. Feeling concerned, we rang in and attempted to cancel our order. We were told we could not cancel.

I am now aware that it our right to cancel any order within seven working days, and that we do not need to give a reason for cancelling - despite what we were told. I strongly advise any company who wish to cancel to be aware that publicservice will deliberatley try and mislead you about the cancellation procedure. Please also be aware that this seven day period is a basic right you have under English law and not an internal policy of theirs which they can use arbitrarily.

    Cheats, liars and self-appointed enforcers.

‘Anthony Snag’ of ‘Public Services’ rang my company a little while ago and engaged a ‘decision maker’ (an executive) in conversation re a forthcoming conference.  The conversation progressed to a sales pitch where the executive was asked if they would like to mount an exhibit at the conference – the cost, £12,000.

Public Services (PS) www.publicservices.co.uk is a publishing company that has a variety of other services (including running exhibitions and conferences).  www.publicserviceevents.co.uk.

Thankfully, the executive took some advice before progressing and this gave some time to check out A. Snag.  I ran a brief background check on the company and it took very little time to uncover some unsavoury details.

Firstly, I wanted to find out what other people had experienced with the company and entered the telephone number into ‘Google’ hoping to get a hit on ‘Who Calls Me’ – I did.

More information came from Telepest www.telepest.co.uk

    0121 456 3336     0131 555 3970     0161 832 7387     0178 266 7340

Telepest also gave some other names used by PS including
    PSCA
    PSCA International / Public Service
    Public Service Review Journal
    Public Service

Progressing to Companies House website and later Companies in the UK www.companiesintheuk.co.uk
which gave the address, phone, fax and company number (a match for the company website)

The company has previous names – PSCA International Limited (changed 8 March 2011)
Public Service Communication Agency Limited (changed 25 April 2003)
    Ever 1887 Limited (changed 20 December 2002)
    Also,  PSCA Holdings Limited www.companiesintheuk/ltd/psca-holdings
PSCA Holdings Limited also has a previous name – INHOCO 3458 Limited
    Chief Executive – Gordon Warrender.

A business sale report of 4 June 2008 states that PSCA International, the magazine publisher with offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh has undergone a management buy-out supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland.  PSCA International has a turnover of £12 million.  http://www.business-sale.com/acquisitions/art ... lish-29608.html

Go to Google search and enter PSCA International (with a space following) and one of the options that will appear is ‘scam’.  This will take you to http://psca-international.blogspot.com

Where a link will take you to the ASA website where a complaint against PSCA international was upheld www.asa.org.uk/Asa-Action/Adjudications/2005/ ... d/CS_39449.aspx

A simple search for people who have worked at PSCA raised numerous hits – the common link to almost all of them was the word ‘sales’ in connection with their employment at PSCA.  Mr Snag however, was not found online.

Conditions for staff working at PSCA have been described as ‘a sweatshop’.  An ex-employee claims that top salesmen earn £15,000 a week (Gordon Warrender denies this and says that the top salesman only earns £11,000 a week).

In our case, we did not take up Mr Snag’s kind offer.

Given the above, would you have done?
