got a neibour called by 01482 221052 asking for me, i also think it is from Wescot credit services the neighbour gave no information but i think someone probably will, i am paying them token payments at the momement, but they want more which they wont get, but i think they are going to start hasseling me, i would like to know if it is definately against the law as one comment made and how do they get away with it, if its against the law surely there is some one to report them to

it is definate Westcot credit services i have only 1 debt and they are dealing with it if you want to wind them up back there is a number on there website 01482 590560 and ask for Clare McCaffery and why they are ringing you up, or to leave you alone

Steve hen - Complain to Trading Standards about them (08454 040506).  Here are a couple of quotes from Wescot's web site to give you a laugh:

Personally I don't see how phoning someone's neighbours, identifying them by name and address then asking about them, and in some cases revealing that the neighbour is being pursued for debt can be classed as ethical.  In my book it is highly unethical and surely must be contrary to the Data Protection act in some way.  I have sent off an enquiry to the ICO to ask if it contravenes the Data protection Act - still waiting for a reply.

If more people complain to Trading Standards maybe this shoddy practice will eventually be stopped.  I gave my neighbour their details and my Trading Standards case reference number so that she can lodge a complaint as the injured party in this.  I was livid (on her behalf) at their total lack of respect.  It's her estranged husband they are chasing but they have her name as well so she's the one suffering the embarrassment.

I received a call today from the same people asking about a neighbour when I said I didn't know they just hung up.
Feeling suspicious I googled the number and came up with your site.
I took your advise and contacted consumer direct who said they would pass it on to trading standards.
Hope something is actually done about these people but don't hold my breath.

called today 23th july very rude asking if mr xxx lives at 19 i would not give back any information but this is illegal , done some digging around and it traces back to westcot credit services this should be reported to trding standards and the csa agency as they state on there website that they nare a member

had a call fom this number, when i answered it the line went dead.

They called a girl 2 doors down for me asking if anyone lived in number 31!! and she gave my husband that number! it was for a guy that previously lived here!! I have rang them load sof times to tell them that he moved to the states because he married a girl from there and left all the debt!!! I think they dont believe me!!! I feel harrased

Hi, the same here. They call my neighbours asking about my house and people who live here. What a shame, we feel like a criminals. I've been given their number by one of the neighbours. I think it is about somone who lived here before. We moved in last year and there was a lot of letters coming which we returned to the post office. Regards

Called at 08:20, Scottish woman asked "is that x something rd ( my address), I didn't confirm this but asked 'who are you?'. She went on to say ' I'm trying to speak to June from number x, I think she may have moved'.
Having already had missed calls from this number and having already searched on the number I just hung up.

Just had a call from them, a scottish lady, who asked if "so and so" still lived at number 24. I was quite annoyed that they were allowed to ask who lives where TBH as this is totally private. The actual "house" that they were asking about is a very poorly old lady who has meals on wheels and also home help so. I just said I had never heard of them and she then put down the phone.

I shall now ring trading standards about this.

Yehh they called up and asked if we knew someone who lived at 21. Very suspicious, we tried to call back but it just rings and rings. Quite scary to be honest haha, reporting this to the police right away.

I had a call from this number today asking after my neighbour - said he was a friend who had lost touch. I offered to take his name and number but he wouldn't give it to me. I was suspicious too and did 1471, then found the number on this website. I'm suprised they don't hide their number before calling.

Just had 2 calls within 10 minutes from these jokers. Asked after someone 3 doors along from me who I don't believe lives there anymore. I dialed 1471 and got this number 01482 221052. Reading all the other posts I am presuming this is Westcot.

When my daughter answered the phone she was asked who lived next door and was his name ......... how low asking a child disgusting and hastling my family

Just received a call from this number asking to speak to a Mr xxx. Told them he doesn't live here and they tried to crack on that they had phoned the correct address?

Told them they hadn't and call ended.

Traced them on tinterweb and found myself here.  Called them back and requested my details were removed.

Incidentally if this does not work, all you need do is tell them in no uncertain terms to stop calling and throw in a few swear words directed at the caler.

They will have to mark their records up accordingly and by law are not allowed to subject any of their employees to such a scenario were they could be verbally abused in the future, duty of care and all that.

Little insider tip from me, as I work in a contact centre enviornment and are bound by the same rules and standars of care

I know it's not nice but the end justifies the means.
