this number has called my mobile several times and I've told them I don't want their services, they still kept phoning but I've missed some of their calls. The last straw was this morning when they phoned my landline and I asked them to remove my number from their database. We'll see if it works!
Asked to speak to my husband and said they wanted the outside of their offices painting. Wanted me to give his mobile no and asked what time to catch him in.
A chap named Matthew called me from this number, has asked if I did Commercial and Domestic electrical work and did I have any free time. I told him to email me. To date, I have recieved nothing hence this note!!
Called our business line saying they wanted work done, but gave fictitious name, address & phone numbers. Only discovered when I went to the address that it was a waste of time. Called them back (after doing 1471) but got an answerphone message only.
This number miss-called me. When I rang it back the msg advised to ring 0845 263 1010. Not doing that! Couldn't find anything on google with that number! Anybody have any other ideas?
Today a man from this number called me asking to speak to my husband as said he wanted some plumbing in the southwest, gave him my husbands other number and he said he would call that? As yet he has not returned the call?
I run a driving school and have just had a call from this number. The caller identified himself as "Christopher", said he was from "The National Driving Schools Register" (I've never heard of it and we've been in this business for years) and asked to speak to a driving instructor (which is a strange request from someone supposedly in the driver training industry as they must know that driving instructors are self-employed and wouldn't make any money if they sat around the office all day!) In the background I could hear what sounded like the usual chatter of a call centre. I told him that none of the instructors were available and he asked what would be a good time to call back. I told him that it was my job to deal with telephone enquiries and the job of te instructors to do the teaching, so he needed to tell me what he wanted - at least in the first instance. The caller asked if we were taking on new pupils as he'd spent "all day ringing round driving schools in Slough trying to find someone who could take on some pupils but everyone was fully booked" (highly unlikely - especially in the current economic climate). I told him that we had some availability and he then told me that he had 20 (!!!!!) people wanting driving lessons and could we take them on?. I asked him for details of their backgrounds and he said "Most of them are from Staines"! I asked him why he didn't try ringing driving schools actually in Staines or nearby instead of several miles away. He seemed lost for words and got all flustered and put the phone down! Very strange...
I also recieved a call and answer machine message from this number. I called the 0845 number and asked who this was. I was informrd that the company are an internet media advertising firm for small businesses.
This number called an old line for our taxi company asking for the owner. I asked what it was regarding, and she said she was looking for someone to do airport runs. I explained I was the day manager and I might be able to help and she hung-up on me. Cow.
I am the manager of a small electrical contracting company. I had a call from this number just a few minutes ago. The woman asked if we did Domestic works or just commercial, answered "both" she then asked how our schedule was and I replied " what is it you need done and when?" her reply made me think it was some kind of advertising company which I asked, she avoided the question and asked for our email address. I asked her the company and if they had a website, she replied "Coulour Street, www.colourstreet.co.uk" I tried it and it 404'd which I told her, she started to fluster, and said "sorry its .com" as she said that I said its not coming up on google and she hung up.
Strange... obviously some kind of marketing looking for email addresses.
I called the 0845 number and it's for Customer Street, an internet marketing company. They've called me before asking if I can take on pupils to teach them to drive as they 'have a large number of customers in my area'. However they don't refer pupils, they just offer to create a webpage and get you high up the search engine rankings.
I'd asked to be removed from their database after doing some research on the company.
Google 'customer street' and judge for yourself after clicking on the various links that come up, I can't offer any specific advice
I just ignored, did'nt answer - just wanted to thank you for the posts, its great to be able to check for unsolicited calls. Look out for the school book scam on www.firetop.co.uk (or is it .com, cant remember).
Received call from these people. Call Centre. Asking if i did rewires and alarm installs. When asked the operator stated that she was from my area !?? They are from the Electricians Register. No doubt they are also from other trade registers. They obviously want me to advertise with them / have my name included on the register.
Had a silent call from this number a few days back... seems odd that Customer Street should be trying to contact me as I don't run a small business. If they ring again I'll try to find out more. Interesting that Customer Street is part of BT Plc according to their website... if they are ringing up (TPS registered) numbers pretending to be customers when in fact they are salespeople then surely that is a criminal abuse of the telephone network?
It is to persuade small businesses to sign up to an online directory for £199 +VAT to register, then £30 p/m. I run a wedding band and they wanted me to sign up because apparently they get the name further up on google than most. Even if you pay it, you're still only one of any number depending upon who else has signed up! They also asked me "how much more work can you take on?" They imply this will make a huge difference for your business.
After I declined, they rang back the next day. The same person (Same voice), same background chatter of a call centre. I remember because she was incredibly pushy and had an annoying voice! When I pointed out that she had in fact contacted me the day before she said "no I didn't, I was just looking for a band to hire in Rugby." I called her bluff and she hung up.
They said they were a division of BT (as soon as I hear that alarm bells ring) - sounded thick as two short planks too. Then they go off telling me how they will put me on page 1 of google at least 4 times for any search phrase and can build me a web site.
She should have looked at the nature of my business - I'm a web designer and I know that you cannot make such claims... cue one-sided technical discussion about how the internet works resulting in her putting the phone down.
In response to Neil Williams above - yes, I bet this is the same woman with the annoying voice - did you get called "darlin" ? I was half expecting "bovvered?".
