I got a call from this number and i am not able to call them back as it sayes unobtainable, ANy ideas?

Received a call from 01514798063, called said her name was Bula and she was from my bankl, she requested security information. I refused and she put the phone down, checked with my bank,the said they had not rung me and that this was NOt one of their numbers, clearly this is a fruad. I rung the number back and it is unobtainable.

Had a missed call from this number but unobtainable when rang back. Subsequent call from different number - was my bank to confirm that I really had just changed my address (I had). Didn't ask any unreasonable questions. Comment above re bank details made me suspect this number was regarding same issue. Have ignored calls from unknown numbers in the past. Ended up with my credit card getting stopped as they couldn't contact me (letters being returned for some reason).

I just had a callf rom this number and tried to call back and it would not go through, googled it and found this forum - looks like the number they are calling from is a scam- beware!

Call received re bank details.Unable to return call.Number unobtainable. HSBC checked number also. Not one of their numbers.

Oh yes just received call from above number it flashed on call waiting as I was speaking to my frd so I was able to and it instantly however heard receiver was banged quickly calling it back calls rejected... I can't believe how many people r getting scamed mostly elderly n goby is still nit doing anythg to regulate n bring such thgs under strict criminal law due to which such thgs r getting encouraged while these people r robbing blindly also western union money transfer scams police says we don't deal wit them so wow crime without any punishment SHAME

Yep just recieved a call from this number too. I missed it and when I called back the line was dead. We were tranfering our mortgage to HSBC so it sounds like there is a bad egg amongst them

This is a scam, the male caller has used two differant names when contacting me saying he is from the hsbc, i contacted the hsbc and they have not been trying to get in touch with me. The first time i hung up on him and he immediatly returned my call from a differant number

This number is definately a HSBC number. Main outgoing calls from central HSBC offices are recorded against your account and can be checked by ringing into HSBC and asking. However HSBS have auxillary offices that do non-banking work like checking address changes or general clerical (non-financial) information. These offices ring you to check details, sometimes the 01514798063 number is one of these offices. You can ring your HSBC number on the back of your Credit Card and they will confirm this. Interestingly, if your branch rings you with a query the number will also not show as a regular HSBC number or be recorded against your account. When receiving one of these calls you will not be asked any real security information only details such as Postcode etc You will not be asked pin numbers or account numbers etc.

Just also had a call from 01514798063, called the HSBC main number 08457 404 404 filled in my details and got put through to thr fraud dept, it is 100% a HSBC number!!
So try not to worry!

Phone number is for First Direct (HSBC subsidary) Fraud Dept. and is legit.

If in any doubt, return the call yourself to verify.

This is a scam. Just had a call and they could not provide me with the branch when I provided a sort code.

I think that these comments that say it's legitimate are people who are part of the scam.

Rule of thumb - call the source to find out if your caller is kosher. If they are for real they won't mind you checking and calling you back. Get a name, ID number and call reference so that you can check.

I had a missed call from these people but I did not try calling it back.  I have read the above comments and just want to add that I do not have a First Direct bank account, I do not have an HBSC account and I do not, have not and will not give out my mobile no to anyone but friends so I have no idea how they would have got my number.

Had a call from this number, and they left a message saying they were HSBC, my bank. Rang the official HSBC number and they confirmed it was genuine.

Also had missed call unable 2 accept return call. Hsbc def at back of it as we have just requested mortgage from them. Not happy about it as I don't want to be contacted or pestered in this way.

Got a call yesterday afternoon from this number, asking for me by name and claiming to be HSBC and checking whether I had applied for a loan, which I had yesterday morning. What is strange is that I applied to HSBC in Dubai where I live and this is a UK number! Strange. But the person had my details and just asked me to verify that they were correct. I told my bank adviser about the call this morning and she was puzzled as the loan application had not been put through at the time of the call. Like others, number is unobtainable when I try to call back.

HSBC Fraud prevention department:

to clear everyones concern: If you were called from 01325500037 or 01514798063, they 'really' are both from the HSBC fraud prevention department.

I was suspicious initially, so i got the persons name and an extension number and called the HSBC main number (08457 404 404) and they put me through to the person who actually called me from these numbers..

Its not a scam.
Its HSBC.
I had sent them an e-message earlier, and they called me regarding my concerns.
In my experience, its always been Asian people, with definite Asian accents.
Perhaps the number can not be called back because  the call is being outsourced in India or something.

Still calling from this number! I received a call today 06/10/11, 'Steve' from HSBC, knew my full name including middle names, but nothing else, he wouldnt say what it was about til i gave further 'security info', only that it was about an instrustion i had given them... naturally i refused point blank.
