Got 2 calls today from this number, one left an answer phone message which was a minute of on hold music ?? I must be coming to the end of my mobile contract since this and another number have been calling me persistently for about a week now. Very annoying!

Follow up from yesterdays post....

Today I received a call from someone asking about my contract with 3..
wanted to review my usage/costs etc and then conveniently cut me off within a few seconds.

Only a handful of friends have this particular number so I suspect the call from yesterday and the withheld number today are connected.

Next time I'll be ready and go through the motions of being interested and get the companies name !!

I got 3 missed calls from this number within 1 min. The caller didn't even give me chance to answer - how irritating. Probably wanting me to waste my credit calling them back, which I didn't but many people may just to find out who it is and waste a whole load of time and credit. Who is this?

Im waiting for a very important phone call and when i look at my phone and see one missed call from this 01554784040 i think [***] did i miss there call.

I think its a company called SecTel trying to sell mobile phones.  Don't take up their offer.  I did a year ago and they helped themselves to £90 (2 x £19.99 and 1 x £49.99) of my cash by using my card details from the delivery charge!!

I just got 2 missed calls from this number, both laster about 2 rings. I'm guessing they phone multiple numbers and just talk to the first person to answer. Once someone answers they most likely cancel the ringing hence why it only lasts for a short period of time. Funny that two people have mentioned being on the Three network, I'm also on 3. I'm also expecting an important phone call, so it's really annoying when people phone like this.

Luckily I always Google numbers I don't recognise, so this has been pretty useful info.

Commented earlier, but they called again this time on Withheld, so unfortunately they have probably picked up on the fact that people discuss all this on the internet. Anyway, I picked up (because I didn't know it was them) and a Welsh guy started to talk to me about my 3 contract, saying it's due to expire though I informed him that I renewed it last month (which is in fact not a lie) so hopefully they don't try to ring again.

Got a missed call off this number earlier today and a witheld called about an hour ago, judging from an above comment this is probably them. A few weeks ago I kept getting called (by what I think was an 0845?) and found this sight discovering it was Three ringing me about an upgrade.

Is it a common theme that people getting called by this number are Three users?

Got a missed call from this number at 1:35 this afternoon. Tried looking in the directory and then googled it, only to find out its a phone selling scam! Thanks to this forum or i wud've kept guessing!

Called them back, got through and ordered them to remove me from their database, under the Data Protection Act. I was called a few hours later from 07853736612. After Calling 01554784040, they said this would be one of their numbers. The second caller had identified themselves as 'Three'.

i got called by this number today and do not know anyone in Wales!!

Ive just had a call from these people rang for not even 2 seconds and then cut off, its very annoying. I googled the number as i didnt know the number and it brought me to this page, wonder if somehow you can get them to stop ringing, ive tried calling back but no one answers

Just had a  call too off the number, i am on the 3 network also. rang for a about 1 ring then hungup. never had a call off this number, or any other before.. however i was on the phone to 3 just last night, now i'm getting random numbers calling me..wonder if thats a coincidence?

After receiving a miss call from this number, I returned their call, and found: they are a company who do upgrades for 3G contract customers.

What i understand about these companies (tele sales) is; they buy your details from who-ever, and then try to make you get an upgrade through them. (in simple words: they are middle men trying to make money out-of-you).

However, sometimes they are able to offer you better deals/rates than 3G (Buying power), and in most cases not, depending on how legitimate the are.

bet if we call it back it will charge us a mint...

Had call from this number which rang for 2 seconds then hung up before I could answer. Rang it back and a Welsh guy said 'nothing to worry about - it's just one of my colleagues ringing to see how things are going with your mobile phone and contract'.

Asked him how they get our numbers and he said 'Uk database'. I asked him how I can get off this database and he said go to TPS. www.tpsonline.org.uk

I've just been rung by this number but I missed the call.

Did not ring them back because did not recognise the phone number code.

I think it's just a company ringing random numbers and like suggested trying to sell something to you.
