Carphone Warehouse, looking to get you to renew a contract. Frustrating because if you pick up there's nobody there and if you call back it just rings out.

phoned me at home at 8pm - never had any business etc with them - 01612168911 carphone warehouse.  why?

I got a call from this claiming to be Carphone Warehouse wanting me to upgrade my phone. I got suspicious when they were asking for my full card details and date of birth.

I called Carphone Warehouse on their website number and they confirmed that this is NOT one of their numbers.

Had this number try and call me 17 times in the past week and on answering they put the phone down. On calling the number back there was an automated message for the Carphone warehouse. On finally managing to answer one of the calls they said they were from Orange not the carphone warehouse. They wanted account details for my orange account and bank details on how I paid. I phoned Orange and the Carphone warehouse and neither had been trying to call be about an upgrade or payment details.

i had this number 7 times over 3 days and noone ever talks when i answer. I just let it ring now and yes, i did get my phone contract from them and it is nearly due for renewal but no, i wont be renewing with them

Wow - this is a bit scary!  I had a call today but didn't answer cos i didn't recognise the number. My husband had a call earlier in the day - he was told it was Carphone Warehouse, then he was told it was Orange!  He demanded to know which company the caller was from and he was told Carphone Warehouse and was asked if he wanted an upgrade. He told them where to go. Apparently on the national news there was a story recently about staff in a call centre from one of these networks selling customers' details to another network when their contracts were due for renewal.  Be careful everyone.

Had a call from this number today but I didn't answer as I didn't recognise the number. It only rand around 4 or 5 times & then cut off. I am with Carphone Warehouse & my contract is due for renewal within the next couple of months.

Anyway, as per the other comments - be careful!

Answered the call. Unintelligible muttering, sounded foreign, heavily accented, then hung up when I asked who was calling.

I was suspicious, on both occasions I feel the call is being routed to an outsource centre located offshore judging by the heavy foreign accents and the amateur approach.

Also they start by asking you to confirm how much you are paying a month...I suggested to first caller if he knew who I was then he would know, he then said oh its data security...exactly my point...why should I need to reconfirm!

I suspect its a company trying to poach business from carphone...my point is though...how do they get the data?

Absolute To55ers! Ignore them, they're extremely annoying!!

Ive had this number ringing me over the past few days but i didnt pick it up as i didnt know who it was. Went on google and typed in the number and the area code is in manchester. Then i came across this website and have read all the comments. Think something dodgy is going on. Definitely not going to answer this now.

I was called by this number regarding my Orange contract...They said tehy where calling from Carphone Warehouse...i agreed the deal as it was very competative and rang Orange ..they confirmed i Carphone warehose had an agreement to call customers regarding upgrades..they aslo explained carphone Warehouse have Outsourced some work to south Africa...My phone arrived and everything i was promised has been added to my account.

I think its just the way the companys are working now due to the reccesion.

I have had this caller try calling me 8 times in the past 3 days. I haven't answered cos I didn't recognise the number. Found out it was a manchester number, but I don't know anyone from manchester. I also found it weird that they've tried calling at about 8, and if it is carphone warhouse/orange I'm sure they wouldn't contact me that late?! I also think it's weird that it's a normal number and not a company number.
As many people on here seem to have been having weird experiences with this I definitely won't be answering this call! I'm sure carphone warehouse/orange will send me something in the post when my contact is due for renewal. Cos I'm sure it's not for at least another couple of months yet.

I have had this number constantly calling on my mobile for the past week, i didnt answer it as i didnt recognise the number, I use my mobile for work so thought it could possibly be someone trying to sell advertising etc. Then i  found this site. My contract is due for renewal but i will sort it under my own steam. I set my phone to reject this number - then i got a call from 02086175910 yesterday which i answered as it is a greater London number and i thought it could be to do with work - it was Orange - so i told them where to go and  set that number as reject to. Then I got another call today from 01925555601 which is close to local code so answered it and again it was Carphone warehouse on behalf of Orange - once again I told them where to go and to stop calling me - guess that wont happen though )each time I block a number they just call from a different one). I now have to screen all calls and just hope I dont miss any posible work !

this number called me several times before i was availible to answer it, while on the phone i looked at this website and was concerned over who they where but i asked them to prove it so they said they would write notes on my account and then i hung up and rang back carphonewarehouse on the official number and asked them to read the most recent note on my account which prooved the original call was legit. still didn't renew my contract though

I had a call today from this number.  They wanted me to renew my phone contract. The thing that I found strange was that a few dayys ago I got an sms from Carphone offering me an earlier upgrade. The strange thing was the people on this number were claiming to be from carphone but were offering a lower handset price... hmmm... go direct if in doubt.
