I was called by a girl who said she had found my CV on a job board and that I was accepted for the first round of interviews.  I went for the first and was offered to go out with a more experienced rep to show us how its done. The Irish guy who took me around was amazing, I don't profess to be a salesman, infact I'm not one at all, but how he was able to sell cosmetics was beyond me.  Anyway we finished the day and we went back to the office and the MD called me in with this Irish guy and I was offered the Job there and then. YEY, GREAT.
So things then start to go wrong.  They asked me to come in at 7 in the morning to do 2 hours of training and get on the road at 9. WOW. I live in Stockport and get to Manchester by bus.  So I turn up at 7 and we get cracking, they explain how they make their sales and that they have a term called the laws of average, that if we see 300 people/businesses we are deemed by the almighty to make 1 sale out of every 10, making 30 sales.

Straight away I knew something was dodgy.  No company in the world ever has based their sales on the laws of average, this guy tried so hard to convince me that this was a proven method and that the faster we move the more TLA come into effect.  Taking into account, Location, the length of the sales promotion and the total number of reps working at this company. TLA goes right out of the window.  Another one was the fact that they forgot to mention that it was a self employment basis, and no, didn't say anything on their paperwork.

So you can add P&G Marketing to the list and Employee perdm, I bet you are one of those gimps in an awful pin stripe suite who thinks he's big time working at a company who lets be honest are crap, dishonest and have disgusting offices.

    Thanking you!

works in "proper" sales! replies to Employee perdm
    EMPLOYEE PERDM

You are a mong who needs to get a proper job not scamming people.  I work in legitmate financial sales and no doubt earn more than you and do not need to leave the comfort of my own furnished office.  I suspect you must only be 16-20 based on your poor lack of business understanding!.  For your information if you applied to Citi Bank UK and got a call from Citi Bank US - yes most normal non [***] people would find it very odd!!!

grow up and earn a decent and ethical wage!!!

if you can't see that this a prymid scam then I hope you last long enough to lose out financially you little cretin!!

I've actually worked for JK marketing services, 86a Bank Street, Maidstone, Kent a while. I found that this job is not what they call management training programme. Everything they say is beautiful and exciting because they want you to join into the company, with NO basic salary and benefits at all. When you see this kind of work on reed.co.uk, totaljobs.com or wherever, don't believe the salary is negotiable as they say. You don't need to negotiate your salary because there is no basic salary and you earn what you sold.

This is a self employed position and they won't employ you anyway. You work as a door-to-door salesman for yourself. You will be interviewed with other applicants together in the first round and the guy interviewing you would say this position is highly competitive, some 2 to 3 hundreds people apply for this job. They would also use money incentive, making it sound like a well-paid job. The purpose of these is that when you got a call from them later on, it makes you feel very fortunate to get into the second round interview and make you want to perform well in the second round. In the second round, you will need to prepare to walk 6 - 7 hours with another guy and see he or she selling products or services door-to-door (hopefully it's not raining or snowing or it's not cold, otherwise you would probably get sick afterwards). You won't expect an interview like this, would you?

There are different levels in the company including distributors, leadership, assistant manager and manager. The time you spent in the distributor level depends totally on your sales performance. Some people might take 2-3 weeks and some people might take 3-4 months. If you hit their standard, you are likely to get promoted to the leadership level, where you will have more responsibilities, more working hours as a salesman, no pay rise and you are taught how to represent the company not a sales company and are expected to work 6 days a week from 10 am to 9 pm. The time you spend in the leadership is, as always, totally dependent on your sales performance. Some people might take a half year, some people might take more than a year. So before you get promoted to assistant manager if you are lucky enough and still surviving, you'll probably have spent a year or more as a door-to-door salesman working for yourself 6 days a week from 10 to 9. No transport benefits, no catering benefits or any kind of benefits. You work for your own. This is why their turnover rate is very high. Some people work for few days or 1-2 weeks some might work for a couple of months.

This is a sales company. All they care about is your sales number because it is the money you make for them. You need to go back to the company every night and report how many sales you have made during the day. After that, you can go back home.

What I can say is there are a lot of this kind of so-called marketing companies in the UK. Their adverts usually use face-to-face selling instead of "door-to-door selling". They tend to shift your focus on their so-called management training programme, rather than again "door-to-door selling". They emphasise the more you sell, the faster you will get into the management, with no specific time scale. If you are a natural, god-gifted salesman, this job might be suitable for you. Otherwise, you must work exceptionally hard with no compliant to working 6 days a week from 10 to 9 in order to survive.

Hope this help you guys understanding this industry a bit more and don't need to waste time to attend interview.

My son was estatic earlier today that he had an interview with JK Marketing in Maidstone and that he needed to go back on Monday for a second interview.  It sounded a too good to be true and I was aware that my nephew had attended and interview in the Maidstone area back in April 09 which had the same claims of making money, selling marketing for companies such as talktalk and the carphone warehouse.  So I looked up the company and have found many posts about the company, many that say it is a scam.  Although I know it isn't a scam as such, as you will earn some money, its the way in which you will earn this money and how many hours a day you will have to work in order to make this money that concerns me.  My son hasn't had a job since he left school at 18 and he has applied for loads of positions.  I fear this company will take away the little confidence he has left.  I have told him that if he goes for the second interview, not to sign anything and to be careful, what else can you do?

I went to the really vague and speedy first interview yesterday after getting an email and a call from PRIMUS UK LTD (Website: www.primusukltd.com, phone number: 01737760275) for interview confirmation for a job I did not remember applying to. I went to the "second interview" today, when I was called yesterday afternoon by my interviewer and a "Manager" who has apparently been transferred from Manchester to London because they were opening up 40 offices around London and needed Office Managers. Of course the rest of the story is the same as most of you guys here!! wish i had read these comments before i spending so much money and time and energy on this 'scam'. i really feel cheated and annoyed and want to report this to some authority who can act against this. any ideas who we can get in touch with? cheers, hoti

About two years back I was out of work and desperate for a job. I went through the first dodgy interview at what was then JCC Solutions in London, got called back and did the observation day. I knew it was a crappy job, but I was told that I got paid £250 a week, and at that point, I couldn't argue. After three weeks or so of terrible hours and horrible abuse by the staff, I hadn't managed to sign anyone up for about 3 days and was exhausted. During my evening debrief with a guy called Duncan, I made a joke about no one being home and wondering where the party was. Justin Cobb who was in on the meeting then proceeded to yell at me for about 5 minutes straight, right in my face so he was spitting all over me. I was so mad that it took all of my self restraint not to slap him. Once he was done, I walked out of the meeting and tried to leave the office. You had to be walked out every night by your team leader and I simply wasn't in the mood. Sadly for me though, my team leader Tarin caught me. I went off on one, telling her what a crappy company it was, how Justin was a self-rightous pig etc etc. She tried to stand up for Justin by telling me that she worships every word that comes out of his mouth. I told her that I was going home and left.

I fell down the stairs at home two mornings later (it was a Monday so I'd had two days off), smashing my lower back so hard that I couldn't walk. I called in sick and had to take a whole week off. By this point, I'd been "paid" but not even enough to cover a single day's trainfare. I was pretty mad but wanted to confront them in person and try to expose the scam to the other poor new people there. I went back into "work" a week after the fall and got odd looks off of everyone. I was pulled to one side by Adam and Tarin and asked why I was there. I explained that I'd fallen down the stairs, told them who I'd called in sick to, and demanded to talk to someone about my pay. They then told me that I'd been fired on the morning of my fall by someone in the office in person! I was at home in agony, so how could they claim that I was in the office to have been fired?! I was then told in response to my question about pay, that it was all commision based. 4 weeks into the job, and then they decide to tell you? They told me to leave, and I wasn't allowed back into the building or anywhere near anyone else. I went straight home and wrote a letter to them demanding backpay (I'd listed down every signup I'd done, or I'd helped my team leader to do), as well as compensation for my travel costs otherwise I would take the story to a national newspaper.

Two days after sending the letter, I got a call from Duncan who couldn't have been more sorry if he'd tried. He told me I could come back and that they put the money I'd demanded into my account that day. I told him that I wasn't interested in returning to their scam. Upon confirming the amount with me, Duncan misheard me and thought I'd said £40 than I had. I never bothered to correct him.

I only ended up thinking about this as I was on reed.co.uk today to see what jobs are out there at the moment (thankfully I have a proper job that actually pays a wage now!), and I saw at least 30 jobs on there from new companies that fall under the same umbrella. Sadly, when I got scammed, I didn't have access to the internet from home so I couldn't do research into the company, and when I eventually did after leaving, there wasn't too much around online at that point in time about them. I reported the scam to Reed through the job listing, but nothing was ever done and more and more keep on popping up. I just hope now that there is more literature about these companies online, less people will fall for them.

    Screw you, PrimusUK
    Hi guys

Thankyou all for the advise on this page. Although I currently have a full time job I am currently looking for a  change of scene. When you see an advert like the PrimusUK one on a jobs site, it seems to good to be true. In this case, it apparently is. Needless to say I shall not be attending the interview and I have just reported them to BBC Watchdog. Although legally I don't think they are doing anything wrong, their actions are definitely morally questionable, and I think that the public should be made aware of this Scam. I think It's time for the local paper to get hold of this information. I'll start with the MEN, anybody having the same experiences, contact your local equivalent and get the news out there, they have been getting away with this for far to long!

Been through the same crap myself, and now they are doing it in Liverpool too.

Reed, Total Jobs etc need to be fined for this, profiteering from a company that is taking advantage of graduates, redundant middle managers and generally hard working people who have been turned over by this recession.

Newton st was were this crap happened to me. American interviewer who's secretary claimed on the line initally that the director had seen my CV only to then ask me to fill out a form which was a rehash of my experience and then staple it to a copy she had of my cv...if that makes sense. So in short, the "director" has not seen my CV. Then, as I sat with a number of other hopefuls (by this time already decided this was a jok) I observed the hole in the floor and the secretaries as they rang other people saying the same as they said to me.

After a series of doors leading to the waiting area opened and shut taking in candidates like a conveyor belt, I got my turn. My "interviewer" did the "so, what can you bring to the company" nonsense, to which i cheekly replied "well what do you do?"

    To cut a long and argumentative discussion relay short, I basically I quizzed the role, his lack of knowledge of who I was despite apparently reading my CV, his lying receptionist and his evasive attitude to answering questions, for example;

me "were will i be based?"

    him "all over the city"

    Enough said.

These "marketing" companies are scum. Simple as that, and its another sad reflection of a country we live in that has no standards or morals anymore, as long as they pay reed, totaljobs etc to advertise with them, Reed will fill their website with it. "Apply today, start tommorow" indeed.
