I have had missed calls from this number every day at about 10am for the past two weeks, mostly my phone is on silent due to work and when i tried to contact them back no answer. I finaly had a conversation with a guy saying he was with some legal services about a car accident in march. When i said i hadn't been involved he said 'i must have my wires crossed' and he hung up before i had the chance to ask where he got my details as he knew my name and my number... very strange, i will now just ignore.

As previous reports - I answered phone but immediately caller hung up at other end.  When I called back (as I live near Manchester I assumed it was a genuine local caller) it rang once then paused and redircted to an answer machine.  
After reading these threads I have added it to my caller id service as "ignore". I do recommend this facility for other people harrassed by annoying phone calls. You to see a name on your phone when it rings allowing you to decide whether to answer...also useful for certain family members!!

Had a call from this number, saying that I had been involved in a car accident.  (Not had one in 22 Years touch wood) When I told them that my name and address was being investigated as someone had tried to use it in the pass, the person could not get off the phone quick enough.  I think they said that the company was Action Legal, can't find them on the web (what a surprise).  I suggest letting them talk on the phone, just put the phone down still connected, (as it is their money that they are wasting.)And go and make a cup of tea.

Had about 30 or so missed calls from this number over the last couple of weeks. Having read comments on this site wasn't keen to call them back, but had the chance to answer today and got straight through to a man saying he was from a company called Action Legal. He knew my name and started talking rubbish about car accidents but I swiftly and firmly informed him I wasn't interested in anything he had to offer and that I didn't want to be disturbed by him or his colleagues again. I'm sure it will not stop them ringing back though - very annoying.

I have received several calls from this number 01612494491 over the last 6 weeks and i have never had chance to pick the phone up. a friend sugessted to put number into google and came up with this sight. After reading all the comments i do not want to pick the phone up now. How do i stop them calling me? and how did they get my number? i dont want to call them back because i have been told that they can hack into my phone and get information off there if there a scaming company. what shoud i do?

Karen Jones, Thank you for your post!  I've been harassed by this number every day for about 3 weeks now.  Saved in phone under 'Marketing Scam B*stards' so I know not to answer any more, but the phone going off all day at work is a real pain when I'm only expecting real business calls on it!

Called 0161 929 5799 and was put through to LBM Customer Services.  The lady sounded quite tired and fed up (she probably spends all day taking such complaints) but was very helpful - she asked if I'd like to be removed from the dialler (but only after I had to disclose my number, which I was fairly dubious about doing).  She also explained (without prompting) that they may have been engaged by my mobile phone company to carry out market research on their behalf.  No explanation for why there's nobody on the other end, but her mention of a 'dialler' would explain it - put on hold when you answer till an operator's free.

Promised I'd be rid of the calls within 24 hours.  We shall see!

Try reporting it to any of these, if they get enough they will act upon it.

had a call and it's been worth speaking to them as they have just got me money back from an injury i had a few months ago. so if you do get a call make sure you speak to them.

rang my mobile left some got a recorded voice telling me that one of their agents would call me back when I called it rings and then cuts off. really annoying as i was waiting for an important call

I've now answered several of their calls on both my home and mobile numbers amongst I don't know how many missed or ignored ones.
Every time I say I've already spoken to a few of their colleagues. So they swiftly apologise and say 'Oh, I'm sorry, I will make sure your file is closed and we won't call you again'.

I have missed a call from them on my home phone every day since speaking to the last one a week ago. I am getting seriously annoyed with this now.

Had dozens of calls from this number to my over the last couple of months. Majority I have ignored, but twice I have answered, and been immediately cut off. However, a fortnight ago I answered and actually spoke to a woman. She said she was from some insurance company (didn't catch the name), and that I had asked for a quote for insurance, but she wanted to update their database records. She correctly stated that I had a car accident 18 months ago, and that if I had sustained any lasting injuries or pain after the accident, then she may be able to help with compensation. When I explained that I was hit by a stolen car, and that fortunately no one was in my car at the time, she said she couldn't help me, and hung up.
Yesterday I again received a number of calls on my mobile. When I did answer, it was a man with the same story, telling me he could help me with compensation, if I had any injuries following my accident. I told him the same as I told the woman, and he suggested I contact MIB, to see if they could help recoup some of my losses.
Both callers were very friendly and polite, however it does seem like an ambulance chasing company. Please be aware!

They have called me many times and when you try to call back you can't get through.... They called again and I spoke with someone! They gain access to your number by obtaining Data from Car Insurance companys to whom you have obtained a quote.

They called me today, on my mobile, but asked to speak to my son. I asked where they got 'my' mobile number from and why they thought my son would be answering it. All went quiet so I asked who they were.  
They said they were 'Legal Action Services' or some such name then rang off.

I suspect this is nothing more than a cold calling company trying to to flog insurance or a compensation claim package.  They probably get your number from the contact details you leave when you obtain quotes for car insurance over the phone or online.  Insurance companies are notorious for flogging your details to other companies.

It's cold calling in the guise of a 'service' none the less. I suspect the company name they use changes as often as the weather. If you don't like cold calls either hang up or, even better, say 'hang on a minute' then go shopping while they hang on.  I guarantee you will not be called back!!

Called both mobile and land line -no answer. Returned call. rang once no answer. Reported to BT, o2 and at the request of o2 to police. Poor response from BT who wanted to sell a call blocking facility, haven't had a response from o2 as yet.

Had 7 or 8 call to both land line and mobile. Suggest everyone reports to the Office of Telecommunications http://www.ofcom.org.uk/

Get calls every week on my mobile, i once got a text message from my mobile company saying i have one missed call then the number 01612494490. i returned the call and a female voice says thanks for calling auto direct please hold the line, and they will conect me soon. a few seconds later it talks about a car crash which i have never been involved in one then tells me the ofice is open from 9.30am to 5.30 pm and the office is closed no but it was only 2pm

sill getting calls call back but never any answer but the same above, i even called the 0800 number for auto direct in manchester and they do not know these numbers

I've no had 20 calls off tis number and i ain't answering them due to when you call back, the phone rings and goes dead. If they were a real company with a matter concerning yourself, they would leave a message and contact details to return the call.
