Just got a call from this number.  It was a recorded message offering "free government-funded boilers".  The phone number is one digit too short for a standard UK number, so where is it coming from?

This number called me yesterday while we we out. We are registered on the telephone preference list so the call is a breach of guidelines.

just had the same, pressed the button to speak to a person, north east accent, she started her script but when I said I just wanted to know how she got my number, the line went dead.  These nuisance calls are such a pain, surprised nothing can be done

Had the same call saying that according to their records I haven't claimed my government grant. I already have a new boiler. I am also registered with the caller preference service, these calls are a pest to say the least

Just had the same problem Some rough geordi girl trying to get me a free boiler. She got very annoyed when I didn't answer her questions. Government backed boiler scheme? My axxx.

Just had this call again despite being a subscriber to TPS.

I pressed 2 to speak to an "advisor" when I politely asked them to take me off their list she asked me how old my boiler was to which I refused to answer (it's none of their business) she stroppily replied "well, if you won't tell me how old your boiler is I can't remove you from the list" and hung up on me.

To which I can only assume they are scamming gits.

If the 0161 is Manchester, then there is a digit missing; should be 0161, 3 digits, 4 digits!

I had a note through my door to call this number - is it genuine? Someone came round a few months ago saying they would be extending eligibility around this time..... Have tried calling the number but it cuts off straight away

Sick to death of these calls.    Somehow they've even managed to get my mobile number.    How -  goodness only knows as I only ever give it out to friends.

Just got a call from this number at 16:24 24th July 2013 ,it was a recorded message offering "free government-funded boilers"

Just had another call from this number, the third in three days. I tried to call back but it is one digit short presumably to prevent my finding out who is behind the calls. We are on the call preference service supposed to prevent these calls. Why doesn't it work?

Received the recorded message as others have found. Pressed 2 which connected me to a young Tyneside/Wearside female called Cindy who gave me the company name as Government Boilers UK. I am sure that the British Government will be interested that this company are implying that they are part of the Government! Despite me telling her that I am registered with the TPS, she still went on to ask how old my boiler is. I then had to explain that I am specifically registered with the TPS not to receive these calls and asked her to remove me from the list. I then hung up on her.
You may be interested to note that the recorded message I received initially, was identical to the one recorded from phone calls from 0191 5653681. If you look up this number on whocallsme, there are identical complaints.
I am going to register this with the Information Commissioners Office.

yes why does the TPS not work in stopping such calls as these??

been plagued with all sorts of nuisance calls - few mins ago was this number but the other end just hung up

TPS only stops calls from reputable UK sales companies which obey TPS rules.  Calls from rogue UK sales companies, where there is a person on the end of the 'phone and you get a company name, have to be reported to TPS as, unless they are, TPS doesn't know we are getting them.  Automated calls/texts and calls where you do not get the caller's name, should be reported to the Information  Commissioner's Office.  It's easy to do via their website and only takes minutes.  The more people who report these callsm the sooner we may get them stopped.  Sadly, overseas calls, using fake UK numbers, cannot be stopped and can only be blocked.  There are call blocking units (so called services - for a fee- are a scam), and there is the BT6500 'phone.

I got a call today from this number, same old rubbish about boilers (again!). Spoken to them in the past umpteen times to say I'm not interested, yet still they persist!!.
Seem to be just touting for business. Best to have nothing to do with them.

Recorded announcement. requested to press '2' for my free boiler!  Said they'd been trying to conract me: A lie.  Said I'm entitled to a free boiler: A lie.

Reported them to Information Commissioner’s Office as TPS can't deal with recorded messages.

I have just received a recorded message from a company telling me I had not taken up their offer of a free boiler - a very aggressive voice I might add.   I did not do as requested to press the 2 button!   Why is it not possible to block these calls?
