this company called me saying they were google regarding advertising on google for a month for just £99 I decided that there was something strange as they told me it was a regional not national so asked them to call me back.  They called back 9 times constantly but I was not going to respond until i found out more about them.  This was definately misrepresentation they did not leave a message and i certainly would not advertise with them.  Google get your act together... is this your marketing company or just a spoof!

This company may be a bonifide company but when i directed one of their sales people to this disscussion board. Rather than trying to explian their business so i could understand what they had to offer and how it could increase my business. They got all defensive.

The site www.lavoratestsite.co.uk does not give much information either.

Same company called today and were extremely pushy, to the point he was actually breaking the new sales regulations and also not checking our number on TPS. He would not shut up when I explained I did not need his services and ended up having to put the phone down. Needless to say the phone rang within 30 seconds and he started again with his sales pitch..oops dropped the phone luckilly it landed in the cradle!!!!

Chap is from this company: www.lavoramarketing.com. They claim to be from Google, and want you to take out a one month trial. However they then ask for credit card details and will continue debiting every 4 weeks until you send a written request not to. The Internet gives very few details of this company, which does not seem to be very big, and gives conflicting information about their address. Also, they claim to be a "Google Premium Partner", a term Google itself does not seem to use.

Exactly as above. I am in IT and was asked to speak to the individual by a friend. hard sell. the guy would not shut up. he claimed he was a google optimiser but the way he was talking would leave most people to believe he was from Google. Very ethical. Their "system" only creates 6 exposures per day. We will placing a complaint with trading standards!!!

Under no circumstances do any business with these cowboys, very, very pushy and refuse to take no for an answer. Six keywords for £99 a month?

"Hello, Im calling regarding Google - we are special partners of Google"
"We Can guarantee you a first page ranking on Google for term 'x'"
Me - "We are already in position #1 for that term Plus we are already running Adwords"
"Yes but we can give you (emphasizing voice) six terms (wow omg no wai?!)"
Me - "We already have 400 key phrases running"
"Dont you want to give it a try atleast for a month?"
    Me - "No"
    "Are you sure?"
    Me - "Yes"
"Would you like us to call you again in a few days so you can think about it?"
    Me - "No"
    "Are you sure?"
    Me - "Yes"

The Special Google Salesman lost patience then and didn't even say goodbye :(

I came across this forum after getting a call from Lavora, Im an experienced user of Adwords but was intrigued as they were saying they could offer me a months worth of total exposure on Google that should cost us £3k+ for around £100, and there is very little info on the web available about them, but im afraid this is a case of 'if it seems too good to be true it probably is'.

The problem you would have is that their website asks the FAQ 'will I be front page 24/7?' and they say no-one can guarantee this - which is rubbish of course, as long as your CPC bid is higher than other advertisers you can in theory be there as long as you want. The key is they say, quote your advert "will appear on the first page of Google every day for one calendar month" which means that it could just appear once each day and get one click and they wouldnt have breached their end of the bargain.

I hope this stops anyone avoiding any mistakes and to the guy who is advertising with them my advice would be to cancel and run Adwords yourself, it is easy to pick up the basics and there is plenty of written literature available to help you develop your skills.

Guy called my work number, claiming that their company has a contract with Google, who daily notify them of page one allocations. I asked him to stop right there, explained that my partner works in search engine optimisation and that I know very well that's not how Google works.

He went very quiet for about ten seconds, then got very defensive and babbled for a while. When I explained to him my understanding of Google, he got quite angry and sarcastic, said that I obviously understood his company better than he did and put the phone down on me.

Google works on an algorithm, there is no way to guarantee a page one listing and therefore no "allocation." Google has a page in their support files stating that if someone rings you claiming to be either from Google or to have some kind of a contract or special relationship with them, not to listen to them. In fact, it's here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35291 Well worth a read. Cowboys like this ply their trade on people's lack of knowledge and confidence around issues like these as well as people's desire to make money from the internet - arm yourself!

abi used to work for a company similar to lavora and know of lavora and what you are saying is obviously your own misunderstanding. they do not promise first page position in the organic listings, they promise first page position in the sponsored listings which has nothing to do with googles algorithm. Companies like this do have special arrangements with google to allow them to get you on the first page in the sponsored links everyday.
Listen properly next time abi, everyone is so quick to slate any telemarketing company, the fact is people don't like telesales, fair enough but let these companies show you what they have to offer before you slate them.

Jo - got a call from them today, hence my reason for looking them up on this discussion board. I explicitly asked the rep if he could get me page 1 on the search listings or ads and he quite explicitly said the search listings. As far as I'm aware nobody can guarantee that and so I ended the phone call.

lavora marketing have taken a total of £400-500 from us as we were under the impression it could be a great benefit to our business in fact it is a loss to our business as many times when we tried the catch phrase words we were in frequently there or on the 2nd page of google therefore i would say they have a large con organisation going on and so have the people whom sponser them ie google what ever you do do not give them your credit card details as this becomes a binding contract and even if you stop yur credit card they will still charge you.you then have to go down the route of 30 days notice of which we did and they denied recieving this and still insist on taking more money.
please be warned do not use this company.even the marketing manager was on the phone 25/11/08 still trying to persuade me to stay and not take no for answer we have had no response from adbvertising with this company and will be reporting the matter to trading standards.and hope they get struck off.
