I had the mis fortune of speaking to a martin paris.

what an absolute idiot that chap is.

he tried to quiz me for 3/4 minutes about my business, what do we do, where do we do it, do we work with government etc.

he then used the info to tailor a sales pitch for me.

just come out aof a meeting & been given my details, well why didn't this very important person who gave you my details tell you what you asked me?

because the meeting you had just come out of didn't happen! lies lies lies lies.

beware, this sales tactic is called SPIN selling creating a problem to which your business is the solution so that you convice yourself that if you don't do it you'll miss out!

very clever if done correctly, martin unfortunately isn't very good at selling, the desperation to rush me to a close was very obvious & desperate salesmen don't do very well.

Thank goodness for this website as they are very good at drawing you in with the 'I've been in a meeting' line. They eventually admitted they were trying to sell advertising space in their magazine.

A Richie Knight phoned from this number asking for the head of our department. we are an academic dept, part of a science faculty at a university. he wanted to speak to her about a project she worked on years ago saying he could provide info to her but she had to talk to him now and she couldn't call him back. it was obviously some strange sales call because he had no idea what the project was about and if he was legit he'd know things in academia do not move that fast.

Also had a call from Richie Knight - usual sales waffle - you need us to help you - the fact that he didnt know what we did, who our customers were or anything else proved to me it was a 'pick a company off the web and call them'.   As previous comment, he just asked to speak to the "MD".

A Ritchie Knight called our company trying to speak to a director. When I explained the director was in meeting all day his manner became extremely aggressive. He shouted that he wanted to speak to a PA, when I explained I was the EA he said to me you will tell the director I want to speak to them today its urgent and regarding the government'. I explained that the best way to contact is via email which he refused. His manner is unprofessional and aggressive - I cannot understand a company that would employ someone to be like this. What PublicService.co.uk fails to understand is that we have worked with the Prime Minister whose team was very friendly, co-operative and not self righteous like Richie Knight.

    Very annoyed
So I get a voicemail a few weeks ago from a Ritchie knight saying it's urgent I call him. Few weeks later I ring back and he gives me a 40min schpeel on how he has links to government procurement movers and shakers. Dim wit united over here is happily thinking it's all legit, hmm could be my lucky day and I get a new contract. It's only until I get to the part where he says I have to pay to attend a special invite only day in Manchester where the big wigs will be that my [***] starts twitching - something isn't right I start to think. Then he says the ticket is £2,000! Well my tone soon changed and told him politely to tell his boss who was clearly sat close by that I'm saying no the price and lack of transparency. I wish I'd used stronger language after reading all these threads. Bunch of losers they are. Well I think its about time the tables turned..... I have an idea Watson, I'm going ring them back AA some sheikh from [***] and ask for 10 tickets! Richie boy will think he's hit the big time lol

I have been bombarded with calls from this company for about 3 yrs now.  Our company policy is anyone wanting to contact the MD must send an email explaining what it is about.  This company always become agressive when asked this spouting some rubbish about data protection etc etc. They are hard sales, rude and are very personal.  I have probably been called by about 12 different people and they all have the same approach. Why doesnt somebody tell them that if they want business they need to treat EAs/PAs and potential new business with a bit of respect and that way they may get something in return.

I had a call from Sam Cox.

The chap called for our MD who kept bouncing his calls, then was put through to me

Clear SPIN tactics, the regular routine.. he asks you lots of questions about your business, then regurgitates it back to you in a sales pitch and rushes you for a decision today.

When you ask for them to email you the information as you have not got the time, a whole host of excuses come out.

My suggestion would be to avoid their calls if you can.  Timewaster...

I work for a local bus company and have just taken a call for our MD from Tahere(however it's spelt) asking for the MD by name.  however, we're always quite protective and I pushed for answers.  I told Tahere truthfully that our MD was out at meetings.  When is he back?  The tone suggested sales so I truthfully again said I don't know.  Tahere was bordering on aggressive with the tone and said 'tell him to call me immediately he comes back'.  No please or thank you.  Then he was about to hang up but I pushed for a company name and reason for the call.  Eventually got Publicservice.co.uk but nothing more.  Our MD will not be calling this idiot. The number he used was 01782633159
