So friends they are here to help us. - Marie Moodysaid they had forms they could send me to claim back bank charges going back 6years to a max of £1k. They wanted to know who I banked with and my address so far nothing to bad they then passed call to a supervisor who wanted to know how my name appeared on the card when I asked why they needed to know this to send out soem forms she got a little nervous. I then told them that I worked in the financial sector and knew they didn't need that sort of info. She ended the call by saying if I worked in that industry then I would know how to get my money back and put the phone down. Phone number they gave was 01792 813115 and the address was 213 New Road, Skewen South Wales SA10 6EW.

- JenGeorge Benson (!) phoned me from UPI UK Ltd. He said that I could get my bank charges refunded. I asked which bank and he said which ever bank I had accounts with. It all sounded really dodgy so I took as many details from him as possible including the address of Universal House, 213 New Road, Skewen, New South Wales SA10 6EW. (NEW South Wales?) I've got Telephone Preference Service so I am really not amused. I've just informed local Trading Standards of the call who said they would look into this. Hopefully they will find this website!
- PI've now had 2 calls from these people - always an English name but an Indian accent, who've insisted I've paid bank charges at some point in the last 6 years. The first time they asked for me by my maiden name (which is curious as I've been married 6 years, but only moved to this address a few months ago, which does at least give me some clues as to who might have given them my number)The call has never got very far because I've always insisted in return that I've never paid any.
Anyway my real reason for posting this is that because a company is genuine it doesn't necessarily mean you should use them! Lots and lots of people have successfully reclaimed bank charges without it costing them anything. And if you don't feel confident about how to do it there are plenty of places you can get letter templates for free, eg Martyn Lewis' site http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/- Caller: UPI Ltd
- JJjust had call from these people claimed to be john fox from UPI but sounded asian. didnt give bank details so he went and got supervisor, still didnt give details so she was'nt very happy (shame !) phoned my bank straight after and was confirmed as a scam. he gave me a phone number and a website so i could check ID which i have now passed on to police.

- IanI've just had a call from these people saying they could get any bank charges i have paid over the last six years backpaid from my bank. When asked who they were ( missed his actual name ) the indian sounding guy said this the phone number . He said how do you actually spell your first name ? When I asked how are you spelling it he seemed hesitant asking me again . I said If you know my name and you are a legitimate firm send me some details . Again, Mr Asif Imgonnatellyou wasnt happy . I hung up .

- Jane H.Am now rather confused as some people are saying that they have got money back by using these guys. Or, are they the scammers logging in as bona fide people in order to convince us to use this sight. Anyway, my call was much the same as all the others rec'd. When asked for the long number on my cheque card I really smelt a rat as the caller, an Asian chappie said that it would verify mey address. What a load of old rot. Anyway, he is calling back tomorrow to get the number so surprise surprise for him. He was very persuasive at the time and very friendly.Almost conned.

- AmethystIf anyone has received the claim pack you receive for your £49.99 we would be very interested in seeing it. www.legalbeagles.info/forums Have seen some companies who simply send u a guide to making a Data Protection Act request for your money. Claim charges back yourself, they're on hold anyway and you only have a chance if ur in hardship, and these scumbags have no 'new' method or way round it, they are simply trying to extract money from you.

- SylvieThey just rang my 91 year old mother with a hard sell about reclaimimg £1000 bank charges. She refused to give them her debit card number without mu permission and suggested they ring me...
They didn't but then rang her back to say that they had spoken to me and that I had given my permission....
I rang them and got through to Customer Services on the same number as everyone else and they told me that they were not breaking the law. They could be right of course.
Hoeever, they hounded her for a long time and have left her shakey and upset and frightened.
I will be reporting them to someone - don't know who yet - SylvieFurther to my previous comment, I have now contacted Consumer Direct who have taken details of the call and will work with Trading Standards to see if there is any way of stopping theis scam.
I suggest as many people as possible contact Sonsumer Direct on 0845 4040506- Caller: Universal Products International
- CeliaMy Mum received a phone call today from a man from UPI telling her that she had overpaid some money and he needed her bank card details to have it repayed. She said she did not have her glasses to put him off but he said that he would hold on while she got them. She did not give the information. She asked him to write to her but he said they did not do it. He gave a phone number of 01792813115. I rang Trading Standards and Crimestoppers but they didn't seem to be able to do much apart from let me know about this website. I have e-mailed Watchdog. I am very concerned that nothing seems to have been done although this has been going on for so long. They must be conning a lot of people to make it worthwhile.
- jocant believe these people are still getting away with it! told me i would get my bank charges back from the past 6 years then told me i would only get upto 1000 pounds with 8% interest then asked me for my bank details and the 3 digit number on the back of my card??? you only give that out wen ur buying something? phoned my bank and instantly closed my card down! i reported it to the fraud squad at my bank so hopefully something will get done.
