Received a call from this number today to my mobile, unfortunately I answered giving my full name.  A woman then said she'd called the wrong number!  I called the number back and got a recorded message saying 'sorry that you missed our call we will call again' or words to that effect.  What was the point?

had 3 calls today, all of them rung too short to answer, when i called back it said the would call back later.  i have just signed up for some home insurance sites as well.

I asked who was calling (she asked for my wife) - and they wouldn't say - just said they'd ring back another time.  Sounded very dodgy.

I also had a call from that number today, googled and found you lot, they left no message on the answer phone.

So who is it?

No Message left, dialled back and stated sorry we missed you we will call back later.
I don't know this number, caller rang at 7:30pm

Some kind of autodialer for pitching sales, or phishing to see who is in or out ?

this number has rang me serveral times, I answered they said they were the AA and asked if i wanted warrenty on my fiat punto. but i don't own a fiat punto. and my car still has manufacturers warrenty. they are very dodgy as they have been ringing my house phone which is x-directry. they asked for me by first name only!! very funny behaviour over the phone, i would NOT trust them!!

This number called me this evening at 7.19pm but I was not at home.  When I tried to all it back the message said "Sorry you missed our call, we will ty again later". No company details were mentioned.

Rang but went dead upon being picked up.  I called back only to have a recorded message telling me i had missed their call and they would call back mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very much out of order

I was called by this number today at 11.05am, my mum answered as I was unavailable. The lady asked for me by name when mum told her I wasnt available she responded in an abrupt manner that she would call back.  When I redialled I got the same message as everybody else!!! Very bizzare I dont have home insurance either!!!  Be good to find out who this is!

Called a week ago knowing my full name address & car make, saying my warranty is up & he can sort it out for me. claiming to be from AA Warranties.

once i told them it was a new car with 3 years warranty they hung up.

They called again today same voice but saying they have no record of calling me before. Claiming i had ticked a box to be contacted about things like this when i bought the car.

Would all the differnt companys/ scams use the same number?

received the call said sorry know one was there to talk to me and then gave me a number to call them back.

if i get charged O2 can stick this phone up there arse

have been getting numerous calls from this number too - Always around 1700 and then on the hour every hour until 2100 - I do not answer and advise you do the same - if they are that genuine, why don't they leave a message ?!

Rings about 6/7 times then rings off.

I had a call from 01924587000 at 3.20pm today (saturday). The phone only rang once so I did'nt even have the chance to answer it. I'm a little paranoid about unexplained incoming calls and googled the number for info. All I can find out is that it's from wakefield and my search led me to this thread. It's good to know I'm not alone, these type of calls can make a person feel targeted.
I decided to call the number back using my mobile and can confirm the same weird message along lines of 'sorry we missed your call, ring later...'
I think this could be some sort of dodgy scam and intend never to pick the phone up if it rings in the future from that number. God bless Caller ID!!

Sounds very dodgy indeed.  I've been looking for insurance quotes off the web over the past few weeks and I've had to leave a contact number in order to confirm quotes (I'd rather leave mob instead of home).  I've been having calls to my mobile this week, haven't answered any of them.  They never leave messages, only rings 5/6 times and when I call back 'sorry, we will call later'.  Just ignore them, if they are that desperate to get in touch then genuine companies will write to you.

It's not a scam. This is Direct Choice and they broker insurance from all insurance companies. Anyone who uses price comparison websites or insurance comparison websites can expect more of this. I actually spoke to them and they ended up saving me nearly £200 on my car insurance - so not always a bad thing! :)

Oh yeh - they broker Roadside Assistance as well (hence the AA references)

Not convinced on the old insurance aliby..... My wife sorts our insurance's through her work (a Bank!!) and would never give out my work mobile no. as a contact!!
I still say be wary ;-)
