I answered the telephone today, heard some background noise, and the caller hung up.  I called the number back and heard a pre-recorded message say they had tried to contact me regarding an insurance policy, and would try to contact me later.  Needless to say, they have not called me back.  Strange!!!

missed 5 calls from this number in an 8 day period, but answered yesterday only to hear the number hang-up.  Called it back and heard a msg along the lines of those previously mentioned - I hung up after the "sorry you missed our call".  Will just ignore it from now on.

I've had a few calls from this number recently but thankfully I never answer them - don't tend to answer unless I recognise the number!!  I too have used confused.com in the past, not for about 9 or 10 months though.  However my car insurance is due for renewal so maybe that's why I've been getting calls.  AND anyway I'm sure I never agreed for them to use any of my details to contact me apart from e-mail.  So they really have no right to use my number nevermind pass it on to anyone else for them to use.  Maybe Watchdog is the way to go?!?!

If you dial back but change the last three digits to 100 rather than 000, 01924 587000 becomes 01924 587100 the same voice that gives you the message when you call 01924 587000 says "thank you for calling Heath Lambert Insurance please press...".

I had a couple of missed calls from this number,

Managed to answer last Friday, turns out to be Elephant Insurance,

I had recently been on confused.com to get quotes for home insurance and Elephant were the cheapest by far

I was asked to confirm some details, i said no and that i would call them if i wanted to take out insurance with them

just had another missed call from this number.... used to be with Elephant, wonder if it's worth answering?

Got a call from this number just now, a week since their last attempt.  I didn't see it was this number until after the call, but when I answered a lady asked for someone else, someone who doesn't live here, so it was a wrong number.  I hope they stop calling now.

This number keeps calling me and saying they have some information about my insurance policy, when you ring back a recorded message is played!

had some calls from this number but did not answere them, after reading your comments,i think i have made the right decision.

have had them call me a few times over the last few weeks, have been with the same insurer for the last 3 years, did look on comparison sites before that but why are they chasing me now???
and do they think i'm going to answer - not a chance, didn't recognise the number, didn't answer - simple as. and definitely won't be answering now!

I was called by this number, firstly last Friday evening, they asked for my wife, which is odd as they called MY mobile not hers, I said she was unavailable and asked who was calling, they said the AA about her car warranty and breakdown.  Why would the AA call about vehicle warranty?  And we have joint breakdown with the RAC.
They called again last night, I answered, said hello, they said hello, I said hello, they hung up.
Sounds suspicious to me...

This number called me today, 3 times, didn't answer cause I didn't recognise the number- called back out of curiosity and was greeted with an automated message saying that they tried to call me re my car insurance.

After reading these messages I will ignore any future attempts! Sounds very dodgy indeed...

What is it with the people of this country? Why do we say things like "This really pissed me off, I think I'll ignore it in future!" If something really pisses you off then complain! There are plenty of channels that you can use. Log a call with BT on their nuisance caller site. Or contact the police and tell them that their calls are upsetting your kids when they answer the phone (not that you should let your kids answer the phone, but that's another thing).

So stop complaining to your computer monitors and do something positive!

hello, i work for ofcom,please beware, when you call this number back off a mobile, you are charged £7.00 if you have a mobile handset on a contract. By calling back, the company also get full details of your handset and contract details including name/date of birth etc. that is why they ringand hang up so that you call them back. this is a scam that has been operating out of wakefield. we are working tirelessly to locate the exact position of caller but it keeps moving within a 2 mile radius.

This number called me 16/06/08 at 13:21 on my mobile.  I answered the call as the dialling code is local to me.  They claimed to be from the AA and wanted to quote for a car servicing policy.  They knew my name, called my mobile and knew my car make and model.
