- ba replies to Lenice| 1 replyThis is the number when you get a text message on a landline. Don't know if it's Telstra or Optus or whoever, but perfectly harmless. Try it! Just send a text message from your mobile to a landline. It's a text-to-speech service.
- Julianna| 1 replyI keep getting phone calls from this number, every day many times. No one speaking just ring

- Jess| 1 replyThis number called me every 10 minutes, on the dot, from 3:30am to 5:30am. The number on my phone shows +61198339999. Silence on the other line, no voicemail left. Was really pissed off at being woken repeatedly
- Botswana replies to JuliannaIt is an SMS for you. When you pick up the phone, say "Hello" this will trigger the delivery. A voice will tell you how many SMS messages and read out the SMS to you. Press 1 to replay the message, 5 to delete, 6 for next message.
- Botswana replies to JessAfter the delivery of the message there is an option to go into settings ( press 3). In the settings is the curfew time, you can set the start and end times ( these are Australian times just in case you have your land line diverted to your mobile in another country / timezone) make sure it is not set to deliver 24 hours.
- Botswana replies to LeniceAt the end of the message it reads out the mobile number of the caller, it is probably one of your friends sending to your fixed line by mistake
- Alan from Telstra0198339999 is Telstra's Talking Text service
If you receive a call from this number it is someone trying to send you an SMS.
If you have SMS capable equipment, T-hub or SMS capable handset, it will be able to receive the message, otherwise it will read the SMS out to you using a computerised voice.
When you pick up the phone, say something to trigger the delivery otherwise it will start in about 5 seconds.
It will tell you how many SMS messages there are in the opening greeting then begin playing the first message.
After it has read out each message it will read out the senders phone number and the time/date it was sent.
During the message being read out you can press:
1 to replay the message
5 to delete the message
6 to go to next message ( it will automatically delete the previous message )
Once all messages have been delivered you will be given the option to go into settings
In Setting you can:
Change the number of rings until it hangs up - you can set this just short of when an answering machine answers just in case you don't want the messages on your answering machine.
Set all deliveries to Talking Text - just in case you have an SMS capable phone but want the messages read out to you.
Change the time the messages stop delivering at night and begin delivering in the morning.
Set the service to deliver 24 hours
The service will also do its best to translate SMS acronyms like LOL, ROFL AAMOF :) :-( etc
Don't send emoji or emoticons.
If you are with Telstra, you can dial 019833999 to access pending messages or change the settings.- Caller: Telstra

- Bernie| 1 replyWe have been receiving calls from this number for a week now - lots of odd times - but always at around 8:15 every morning. We have tried saying hello, tried not saying anything - it doesnt matter what we do - it just hangs up on us. I understand it may be a talking text from Telstra but how do I access it, if it keeps hanging up on me? We have recently changed to Optus so I'm thinking it has something to do with that - but it's REALLY annoying and I just want it to stop! Any ideas?
