This number is a scam from an African call centre saying they are from the U.K Consumer banking association where unbelievably they had current information about a loan agreement I have with Halifax bank saying that they can get my debt cancelled and all payments refunded.

Obviously I instantly realised it was a scam as when I asked them to put it in writing they instantly hung up, only to ring me two minutes later asking for my bank details...to date I have had dozens of calls from this number and from 02031375036.

If you get calls from either of these nos. hang up!!!

This number called me today 'telling' me to turn my laptop on as someone has tried to access it fraudulently.
He told me I had a contract with their company (a London based windows company). Wanted access to my laptop and would then 'solve my problems'. Never heard so much bull in all my life. Needless to say....he got it right back at him. He tried but hung up once he realised I wasn't the fool he took me for. No doubts in my mind that these are a bunch of losing scam artists.

A call from MIKE  who had a (strong Indian accent) Claiming somebody was using my account from America this morning @ 0500 hrs, I realised immediately that if there's  some 8 hours time difference between us and America, and 0500 hadn't arrived yet I asked him for his name to catch him out and told him it wasn't a very good Indian Name then I  hung up.

They've been ringing our house for weeks now!  I answer and there's usually no-one there but if you try ring-back it's just unobtainable.  Sick to death of these people!

I've just had yet another call from these people.  This time he said that my email address was being hacked into.  I was puzzled and didn't confirm anything as the account is in my husband's name.  He had said he was from Virgin Media but I asked how I would know he was telling the truth.  He then said the company work for Virgin Media and other companies like them with internet security.  I said he'd have to speak to my husband and he gave me a bogus name (John Clarke) (he was Asian, it could be his name I suppose) and a number to ring back - 02001231479, which I suspect he just rattled off the top of his head as I tried it and it's a dead line!  What a surprise.
Last time they called I said if they called again I'd report them!  Next time I have a better idea.  Not sharing it though in case they check, ha ha.

Well, it makes a change that there is a number they have rung from, normally the message on ringing 1471 is "sorry this call....... etc etc".  When I actually do have a person wanting to speak to me, rather than just silence, I like to keep them chatting by giving them a little encouragement, so they think they have got a sucker on the line.  I then give them a blast with either a rape alarm or blow a referees whistle down the line. Strangely, they do not want to carry on with our conversation any longer and put their 'phone down.

I was called today by the number 02000000000 but I didn't answer the phone but I did retrieve the number by calling 1471 and then I asked Google about the number and found out that the number that called me was a scame so I say to all those that do get called by the number 02000000000 just put the phone down straight down because if you let them into your computer they will get into all your files and once they gain control of your computer they will then ask you for money and if you don't give them the money that they are asking you for they will kill your computer so that you can not use it anymore and tell you to go and buy a new one so I say to everyone out there please please be careful when answering your phone.

    All the best

This is obviously a number with a "spoofed" Caller ID. Offcom and BT should not allow fake numbers through the UK network. It makes it so easy for criminals to hide their identity or pretend to be someone else e.g. a bank, the police, etc.

I'll block this number but there are a trillion others they could use!

The website below lists ways to report this sort of thing to Offcom and the police.
