hi this is steve wilson, the number referred & mentioned is from a technical department who provides technical support to the computers mostly of windows operating system...& the people who called me were very helpful as my computer was in a mess...they resolved all my computer issues as my computer was totally corrupted with viruses & was very slow..& they are not to take any of the personal details as you can be in front of your desktop at that very moment...they simply went ahead & operated with the problems by some experts   .....so i was very lucky  to get a call from those people & they proved their legitimacy by fixing up my computer problem...i recommend this to all the computer users  ......

    thank you

They call themselves GTech Support.  Anyone who calls you that you don't know, telling you there is a problem with your PC, is probably trying to scam you in some way.  Never give out password/PC/IP address details to these people.

    Be warned!!   Be safe!

As a computer technician one of my customers called me saying that GTEC Support called them saying that there is a big problem with their computer.

I called them back on behalf of my customer pretending to not no to much about computers.

Gtech Support told me to navigate to an area on my computer which shown an error message.

He then said this error message will cause big problems and you have spy ware and viruses and my hard drive would become corrupt.

THIS WAS A COMPLETE LIE, all he was referring to was a program which did not shut down properly and flag up an error symbol.

He then requested to gain access to my computer!!

DO NOT TRUST THESE TYPES OF CALLS.

how could anyone call your number and then know that the number they called you on the computer at that address "has problems"...

This number was given by a caller who stated that there was a fault on my PC and wanted me to turn on my PC and follow their instructions. They seemed surprised that I did not trust them when I asked for prooof of who they were. Both forgein speaking accents difficult to understand. I do believe this must be a scam of some sort.

Phoned my pensioner Mother yesterday who is still learning a lot about computers. She then phoned me all a panic because they had told her the laptop wad 68% corrupt and was in danger of becoming unusable.

She told them that I deal with all computer stuff so Patrick Jones left this number to phone him back on.

Laptop is fine and regularly checked. Talking out their bottom as far as I'm concerned. Not impressed.

There are clearly messagesd on here from people claiming to be members of the public who are quite clearly involved - 'Steve Wilson' and 'Alina Wilson' to name but two. Do not trust them - this is a scam and you should hang up immediately.

I got a call From this Number  on the month of  October last Year and they told me that my computer is getting corrupted by the infections and viruses i was surprised because i had got a Norton in my computer and i told them but also they convinced me that i can check it without going online and later on i found that my computer was really getting infected as it was running fine later on they told me to register for the activation of the warranty and within few minutes they finished the work and till now i am not facing any problem and they are giving me a call every month for the feed back so i suggest all that if you get the call from this dept. take the service and stop worrying about your computer So Thank You PETER JAY Thank You For Your Help.

I was called by GTechsupport yesterday, though they didn't say that was who they were initially, said they were calling on behalf of Windows. When they had shown me the error messages on the computer and convinced me that my computer was in serious danger of being infected I got taken in. After some time they told me that there was a charge of They did do quite a lot of 'work' on the computer and were very friendly  but then said there was a minimum chargeof £165 which I dithered about but then paid thinking they must be genuine. On reflection I'm pretty sure I've been taken for a ride and have lost more money than I can afford. They have all my details barr my password so I am now very worried.  I was really stupid as I have a Trend security system on here which would have continued to do the same work! I have emailed Trend to check.  I would suggest that you do not go ahead with these people unless you have no other security system and have double-checked that their work is required. I noticed the 'contract' on my desktop after they had finished the call and was NOT asked to read it before saying yes.  Beware.

Telephone call this morning from someone calling himself Calvin Allen-Smith (Indian voice!) saying that he had been authorised by Microsft to sort out a problem with my computer (didn't know I had a problem!!) Requested his phone number - 020305 10987 and he said he was from a company called GTechSupport.
He wanted me to follow his instructions - refused to do so.  Said he will call me tomorrow.  Sure it's a scam of some sort.  Rang the number later - a little Indian sounding voice asked if I was having trouble with my computer!!

Called from a different number but gave me 02030510987 to call back on +442030510987 claiming to be from "Global Technical Support Microsoft" and telling me I have problems with my computer.

Funny, considering I do IT support for a living and most certainly do not have the "virus infection causing slow downs" that they claim.

Total scam, please don't entertain their lies.

Now had 2 calls from 'GTec Support' for Windows. First call they hung up on me as I didnt beleive they were working for Microsoft. "nd call they denied they said they were working for them but were their support partners. Same caller both times Alfred who is probably Indian judging by the accent. I do not have any problems with my PC and am not daft enough to give a stranger access to my pc or hand them my credit card details.

Have now had 3 calls from this lot. Do not believe anybody in this post that says that they are genuine. They are not. This is a scam. Tonight I spent a bit of time on the phone with them as I wanted to see if they knew what they were talking about. First they told me it was a problem with a laptop, when I said no, they said it's a desktop, I said no, then they said maybe it's an iPad or tablet..... You start to get doubtful at this stage. I then asked them to identify my computer. The guy went silent so I asked him to give me the ip address of the computer......suddenly the phone went dead.

Last week they told me that all the computers in my street were affected by this virus.

If you want a bit of fun ask daft questions - some good stuff on you tube. Otherwise disconnect. Lobby your provider to block calls from this crowd.

Just had acall from Adam ( but Indian) at GTech support, at 08.30 on Saturday morning.
He told me he could tell that there were seroius problems in my computer that he had to tell me about.
I asked him how he knew about the problems, he said that he was from a legitimate company but on probing he could not explain to me how their company had known what I was doing on my computer, he told me that information was sent over the internet.  I then said "ok" and asked him what operating system  my computer uses and he told me windows 7, actually it uses XP professional, then I told him my job is IT support manager and i was pretty sure that my computer had no corruptions. At this point he bid me farewell and hung up.

no surprise that when I dial 1471 BT do not have the callers number. If they are legitimate why cant they give out the number.

Do not trust this company.  They try to make you trust them by getting you to tell them your e-mail address, credit card no. and claim that they are 'cleaning' your computer of viruses so as to make it work better.  They ring from India and have plausible sounding 'technical' people who get you to turn on your computer and give them details of its features and they 'work' on it (allegedly "on behalf of Microsoft").  In reality Microsoft do not make unsolicited calls to users of their computer systems.  G TECH will try to get you to agree to sign up to a one, two or even six year "maintenance agreement".  Do not believe any of it.  I am now trying to make sure they do not get the money they said they needed from my credit card company.  Be warned!!!
