Have been called by 02031035180 several times over the last few days. I missed the first call and didn't recognise the area code (turns out to be a london number) so looked it up and found this page. Didn't answer it for the next half dozen or so times and then got annoyed so I answered it.
Chap who said his name is Sean Hayward identified me by name and asked me to confirm my identity by telling him my date of birth. I told him about this page and that I was going to call Halifax about it before talking to him. "Err... we're not a hoax...". uhhuh
Called halifax. "We don't do that so yes it's a scam. unfortunately it is not in our power to do anything about it - recommend you try the police"
Called police. "Ah yes, this happens a lot. Better try
http://www.icstic.org.uk" (Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services.)
Renamed to phonepayplus @
www.phonepayplus.org.uk. Try to complain: "sorry, we only deal with premium rate numbers..."
bah.
Anyway, yes, it really is a scam. Shouldn't cost you anything to answer, so you can do so and tell them off for being evil... or something. They haven't called me again since I told 'Sean' I suspected him of being a scammer
