the caller ststed they were from microsoft and they had identified a virus on my pc and wanted to guide me through my system to get rid of it. However they then asked me what operating system I was using, I said you tell me as you have stated you have identified the virus on my pc and also I asked them which of my 3 pc's was contaminated, they hung up.

Called saying he was Gravesh Smith from Microsoft, and that my father in law had malicious code on his computer.  He had got his name from looking up IP address records (which are in my (different) name).  He was unable to tell me which IP address that was, and like a previous person he called, what operating system I was using.  I got as far as him asking me to look for a specific file on the computer, but unfortunately my wireless phone range didn't permit me to go to my computer and hear him at the same time.  This clearly is a scam, but what are they trying to do??

Similar issue here my sister in law got scammed by these guys
Claimed to be from Microsoft Home Security team, VIrus on PC if you dont do something now it will break the computer .....

Ended with them taking remote control and trying to get her to pay them for fixing it.

They suggest she pay by paypal as it is safe but they were watching her put in the card details via
    remote assist.

Card eventually billed for £230 quid but this got refused by the C/C fraud team.

We have just been contacted by a foreign man claiming to be from GoGreenpc.net he asked my husband to go through various key functions on the computer he got so far and thought it was all suspicious so took the telephone number which obviously is the scam number.  There is a legitimate company called go green so it is them i also feel sorry for.  Next time they ring I will just ask straight away if they want my credit card number to commit fraud it will save us both time, that should stop the calls!

This is 100% a scam. My Wife has been hounded by this 'company' over the last couple of days.

This really annoyed me so (armed with a bit of knowledge of the internet) I decided to track down the b'tards behind the scam.

From the domain name 'www.gogreenpc.net' you can find its registration details held with with a company called http://www.PublicDomainRegistry.com. The domain is registered to a company Microsys Infotech Solutions.

The telephone number supplied was fake - but with a bit more investigating you can find out that this person has set up a number of very suspect sounding companies, all web base, scam sounding companies. All in inida, all at the same address.

However it would appear that the scammer (well at least one of them, and certainly not the brains behind the bunch) has used his real name. IDIOT!

    His name is Pratik Dutta.
He uses the following email address:
    pratik_dude4mbangalore@yahoo.co.in & pratikontheweb@rediffmail.com
Phone (i think real work phone number +91 -342-2569049)
I believe this actually to be his own website: http://pratikdutta.8m.com/tips/index.htm - which gives away loads of his personal details

, run by a scam originates in india. Unsuprsingly, all the contact details listed were false.

However,  one of the idiots behind the scam actually seems to have registered the domain with his real name. With a bit more research you can find that the same name and adress have been used to set up numeriou very suspect sounding web based companies.

At least one of the people behind this scam is called

In most cases, the numbers are all false. but one +91 -342-2569049 actually seems to be real.

The telephone number published was fake - but with a bit more investigating you can find out that this person has set up a number of very suspect sounding companies. All web base, scam sounding companies. All in inida, all at the same address.

Just rang me twice, trying to convince me that I had  a problem, said the virus was eating up the space in my PC.

He gave his name as Roy Morrison, although he certainly sounded foreign, as did the lady who first rang who I couldn't even understand.

They gave there number as 020 331 89416

    Definately a scam !

Same type of call as those listed below.  "Jack" of 24a Broadway Street North East London, advised me that he would fix a virus problem on my computer, although he patently had no idea how many machines I have or the systems they operate.  I took his number rang off and googled it and found the very useful information posted here.  I called "Jack" or one of his gabbling colleagues back and offered to visit him in his north London premises and explain in detail why I would not be using his services.  I also requested that he or his chums make no more calls to me.  I did this in the style of Ari Gold of "Entourage" - (see various Youtube clips).  It had the desired effect.

Simialr experience to above with a "harry" this time ....quite concincing scam if you recieve the call as i just woke up but not that convincing to let him any where near my PC as Microsoft wouldnt contact you in the first place.....he gave me a number and web site...gogreenpc.net i said ill check it out and he asked to call back later to which i agreed on the premise that i it was genuine he could fix it and if not then i would have some fun....

Found out pretty quickly it was a scam as suspected so when he phoned back i played a little game.

1, he phones, i answer and exchange plesentaries although i cant understand half of what he says so i ask him to repeat things...........3mins
2, tell him that the door has just rung can he hold on for a min, he agrees.....3 mins
3 he tells me what i need to do, i ask many questions and pretend to do what he wants and when he cant gain access i say i must have got it wrong so can we start again. Again many requests to repeat things............12mins
4, tell him that my baby girl is crying can he hold on , I go make a coffee.........6mins
5, start all over again including this time asking things like whats the weather like where you are and does he have a family.............13mins
6, Door again, he still agrees to hold on, i appologise for the interuption and then leave the phone there for 12 mins expecting to come back and find him gone, but no he is still there so we start again and finally somethnig good comes on the telly so i ask him for his credit card details repeatedly and finally tell him i have kept him on the line so long so that the internet security fraud company can trace all your details and that Harry and his company will be contacted, closed down and procecuted....
7, tell Harry that i hoped he enjoyed having his time wasted as much as i did...hung up

total time for them kept on the phone and therefore not bothering someone else 1 hour 14 mins

    WARNING. This is a scam.

Call came in from a withheld number. I pick up, after 10 seconds of silence an Indian guy says he is 'Christiano from the Technical Department' and that they had detected a 'dangerous Microsoft Windows virus' on my 'computer'.

I asked him what was the name of his company. He said 'I am Christiano from the Technical Department of Microsoft Windows support company' or something. (Obviously they weren't Microsoft.)

I asked him again what was the name of his company. He repeated the above.

I asked him what version of the Microsoft Windows operating system was I running. He went silent.

I asked him again what version of the Microsoft Windows operating system was I running. After a pause he said 'Vista... Microsoft Vista.' (WRONG. I'm not running Vista.)

I asked him how many computers I was operating at this location. He went silent again.

I asked him again how many computers I was operating at this location. After a long silence he said 'Sorry. Sorry. I will now connect you to a site supervisor.'

After 5 seconds another Indian voice said, 'Hello I am <something Italian beginning with G, I can't remember>. I am the site supervisor.'

I asked him what was the name of his company. He started saying, 'We are a Microsoft Windows technical support house...'

I interrupted him and asked him again what was the name of his company. After a long pause he said 'We are Gogreenpc' quickly, and started off again on 'We are a Microsoft Windows technical...'

I interrupted him again and said 'Did you say Gogreenpc?' He said 'Yes, Gogreenpc'.

I said, 'Can you spell that?' He spelt it out G-O-G-R-E-E-N-P-C'.

I said, 'Where are you located?' He went silent.

I said again, 'Where are you located?' After a pause he said, 'We are located in, er, North East London'.

I said, 'What is your postcode?' He went silent.

I repeated, 'What is your postcode?' After a pause he muttered, 'What does that mean?'

I said slowly and loudly, 'POSTCODE. POST... CODE. WHAT IS YOUR... POST... CODE?'

After a pause he said 'NW6...' pause... (quickly) 'NW6 1LA.'

I said, 'Did you say 'NW6'?'

    He said 'Yes. Yes...'

I said 'If you are based in North East London, why have you got a North West London post code?'

    Long silence.

I repeated, slowly and loudly, 'If you are based in North East London, why have you got a North West London post code?'

Long, long silence. Then they hung up.

I imagine they won't be calling my number again in a hurry.

I see all off you are saying this is a scam, I agree. I am worried my pesonal details might be in the hands of this company gogreenPC now. They called me and would not go away so I went along with them, got through to some James Brook, a technician for "microsoft" and then i disconected as I reslised it was a scam, they called back and evetually hang up after I said I knew they were  a scam. Now I'm worried that they somehow might have hacked my comp or somehing. Does anybody know if you can get scamed without actually giving them you're credit card details?

I rec'd a call from these cowboys yesterday and today. Caller was deffinatly from abroad but claimed to be called richard yesterday and today was mike.
Despite the fact that during the call yesterday i told them my dad had updated all are spam/virus/adaware software the day before they were adamant my pc was sending them messages saying it was infected with malicious files. I told them this was deffinatly not a possibility and i did not need their services, the guy then hung up.
Today 'mike' called at about 1.30 phone rings i pick up, after a brief period of hold music i say

    "helloooooooo?"

mike says "hello am i speaking to mrs *****?"

    "yes"

"i am calling from the technical support department for windows, is your computer running slow?"

baring in mind I googled after yesterdays call and was fully aware of what they're up to I say

    "no it's running fine thanks"

"m'am....(I HATE being called m'am so this has not got my back up) this is a 'live' computer check so would you like to go and switch your computer on?"

"no thanks, i know its running fine" - i knew this cause i was playing games on it at the time he called but i wasn't telling them that

"but i need to go through some checks with you"

"nah, i don't think you do...my computers running fine thankyou, i know this cause my dad works for microsoft (this is a lie) actually can i ask where you have got my details from because our computer is actually registered in my dads name (this is true and as i am married his surname is different to mine and he lives at a different address)"

'mike' says nothing else and hangs up. gutted. I didn't even have chance to tell him that I work in the telecommunications industry and we're registered with the TPS and he was violating their t's and c's by calling me and I was going to report his company and they're going to now be fined. - i love to do this with cold callers :o)

Total scam....keep them talking, waste their phone bill but DO NOT let them gain access to your PC, don't even switch it on.....have fun, tell them you have a mac......or you don't have a pc tell them you have a little box with a mouse running round inside to power it

I have also received a call from Scott at gogreenpc claiming my laptop was sending out serious errors across the internet and if not fixed it would crash in a couple of days.   He was extremely persistant and wanted to send me the report.  I didn't have the laptop switched on so told him and although he tried to get me to switch on I wouldn't.   I asked for the email address of the company which he said was gogreenpc.net.  The website was obviously not professional, spelling mistakes, missing words etc and I would found there is a genuine company called gogreenpc and I have written to them.  Thankfully I know enough about computers not to believe him and didn't give him the chance to get much further although I was struggling with the English as he seemed to be from an Indian call centre.  I am concerned about other people getting these calls so wanted to warn people.   Hopefully my computer won't crash in the next couple of days!

I would like to thank you all for providing me with this information on gogreenpc.net. They tried to install a virus onto my partners computer yesterday but we were a bit suspicious and decided to investigate.
They phoned back today and after giving clear views (well whenever the lady would shut up for two seconds) that they were scammers we got threatened saying we were going to get sue'd. The funny part is yesterday she said she was called kim, when they called back they informed us there is only one woman worker and she wasn't under the name kim. LOL epic pwned.
So I told her, sue us and we will take you to court for not only harrassment but for attempted fraud also for trying to install a virus onto our pc that would take our details. She wasn't too happy with me as my partner was talking to her first for about 30 minutes.. she couldnt stand 2 minutes of me putting her straight =]
Then she hanged up :D FTW
    Lesson learned gogreenpc.net are frauds
