why did they ring you, is it about soccer aid?

Just got a call from this number also. I didn't recognize the number so didn't answer. I'd imagine it is regarding Soccer Aid though.

Just had a missed call from this number, having donated by text to UNICEF during England v RoW. Frankly I think this sort of thing does not help the cause, and is likely to make me think twice about making a donation in this way in future.

i had a missed call on my mobile from this number too - no message left.,  i did donate via text to soccer aid so wonder if they are contacting everyone to see if they can claim gift aid too?!

I've also had one, the point is trying to get a monthly donation. Nice bloke though.

Must be Soccer Aid as I never give out my number. Try and do a good thing and then they think they have the right to come back and try to get more money out of you - as you do not opt in to receive further communications it is a breech of data protection anyway.

I agree, i donated via text as i thought it would avoid being hassled, im not very happy about this and it is Unicef as i answerd

Yeah its UNICEF but so what if they give you what I regard to be a follow up call? It's an amazingly good cause and I feel that those who donated are charitable by nature and so can do what I did by telling them I wouldn't be donating further at this time and then got on with my day.

I got a call too. I dont have money to donate monthly, and really dont want to be pestered by phone - not happy.

I got a call too a minute ago.  Didn't answer.  I realise now it was UNICEF, but had calls from other charities in the past and they can be quite pushy.  But hey! it's all for a good cause and if they can get a few more monthly donations by this method why not?  However, there should be an 'opt out' available.... Good luck UNICEF :) oh and well done to all of the above who obviously donated too :)

Won't donate again. Loads of missed calls and obnoxiously persistant when they trapped me and wouldn't let me speak. Seriously hateful tactic.

I don't mind them calling really, at least it's a worthy cause and not a bloody double glazing salesman.
I won't be donating any further as it was a one off, I already donate monthly to two charities of my own choice anyway, but I don't think it hurts, as it may get them further donations. It's not rocket science!  If people don't like these calls they should just ignore them like me. My rule is that if I don't recognise the number I don't answer. Simples!

Wow, really?  People are moaning about receiving a phone call from a charity that they've donated money to.  Like it's going to kill you to just speak to someone for a minute and tell them that you don't want to make any further donations, maybe ask them to take you off their calling list.  No, actually you're all correct, it's a disgrace that people who are helping people that really need help are asking for your help and taking up valuable seconds of your day!!  Let's all complain about this phone call that we didn't answer, yeah, that's gonna fix things up nicely for everyone! =/

I answered and it was indeed a Charity.  I politely declined and then asked if he would like to shave my testicles... he politely declined and the conversation ended.  Nice bloke though.

I have had several missed calls this week. It's a great charity, I get that......but I'm being pestered for my good gesture during soccer aid. ANNOYING

See, I don't mind a follow up call, that's perfectly alright, but I've tried to ignore the calls (I already donate plenty of my money to charities!) and am now on call number 8... it's almost at the level of harrassment. If they don't get a reply the first few times they should take the number off their call list.

Grow a pair answer the phone and tell them your not interested, they're going to keep calling if you ignore it, im a fundraiser, calling people after the soccer aid game.

you had the option to opt out of receiving the call. It was stated under the number during the game. I had a man tell me i should go and kill myself today for ringing him. real nice fella. i was so upset i almost quit my job.  All we are trying to do is save childrens lives. it doesnt pay great, but at the end of the day i go home knowing ive worked hard and done something amazing, yes i take a wage for fundraising and dont volunteer, this is because, like you, i need to live as well. but i feel no guilt for taking a wage. last week i raised almost £2000 for unicef. so sorry if the 5 mintues of hassle you endure from talking to us is too much to bare. but if you answer the calls they stop, ignoring them will mean you'll just keep getting rung again and again. we're not psychic but be nice when you say you dont want to donate we are people too just doing our jobs.

when we speak to people who genuinely are charitable and realise that the reason they text the initial donation is because they saw the great work that unicef undertake worldwide, and the fact that it saves childrens lives. then if they still cant donate fair enough, yes were going to be a little pushy, because the need for funds for these causes i urgent. if 2 million children died each year in this country because they didn't have access to simple vaccines, there would be outcry, but because its somewhere else its ok..... erm no
