Same as with Phil-H: human South Asian cold callers - almost invariably male - announcing selves as "Accident Helpline Service" (after a short shuffling sound).

Their first question is to ask "How are you?" and immediately ask about a car accident I had recently.

I have not been involved in a car accident for a decade.

Using 1471 and ringing back, the number above is unobtainable (surprise, surprise)

I have been receiving calls from these same people on and off, sometimes twice a month, for 6-7 years. I have kept telling them, more recently warning them, to stop calling me, and to take me off any list they have bought from wherever it may be (we used the TSP Telephone Preference Service)  - and on the last few occasions, have taken to asking either for their company details, or to speak to caller's manager. I have never sworn, though annoyed.

Sometimes they have rung off without a word at the sign of (legal) trouble, sometimes the caller has persevered a bit longer, trying to sell whatever fraudulent service he is trying to sell, and wasted more of my time and patience. My impression is that the first case more often occurs whenever I challenge them with any action (as I have increasingly resorted to doing).

I have got to the point where I would dearly like to report them for harassment - they simply do not listen, they keep bothering me: but as they are clearly hucksters of some sort (see evidence above), their number, and I suppose their "company title", will be fake. A search on the internet has brought me here.

Exactly the same as previous people who have reported this.
Asian lady, very polite, says "how are you and says she is calling from accident helpline," my response "I am fine, I have not had an accident, I am registered with the TPS, so go away and remove me from your computer!"
This is the second call from this lady.

I recieved a call at 1250pm and got a fright when the man said there had been an accident. I was home alone and my mum was at work and my dad was away on a business trip so I was very worried for them, when my mum came home she called them several times and they never answered- scam!

Received two calls from this number today. The first went to answer machine as I was not in the room, but I answered the second only to have them hang up on me without saying a word.

Claimed to be 'Accident Helpline' and hung up when I said I was registered with the TPS.

For many years, I had never had calls from such companies (ex-directory, TPS registered) until I had to use the NHS24 Helpline a few months back.  Is this true for anyone else?  It seems a strange coincidence.

Caller is spam/junk. Said to me that "someone on this number has had an accident". I told this was not true and asked where he got my number from and he hung up. Obviously not true. Has been barred.

Had a call from them today, Our phone is ex-dir and TPS registered (who are totally useless as they never use their powers to stop harassment).  Was an Asian male who didn't do any favours as to his rude manner.

Repeated calls from this number today. Hangs up when answered. Any attempt to ring it back and the number does not exist. Turned by landline off for a few days. We don't use it anyway. We should not have to have landlines just to have other services its  a rip off.

Asian sounding voice. She was polite but couldn't understand a word she said even though I asked her to repeat. She then just hung up. I too am ex directory and with TPS. Why do we bother if nothing gets done?

Where someone is repeatedly making abandoned and/or silent calls, Ofcom may take enforcement action, including fining the caller up to £2 million.

so says the ofcom website, it's a shame they seem incapable of turning may into will.

Question how to stop them calling or bar them?

I had two calls from this number today, each time didn't answer because I was busy.  Glad I didn't answer now!  Re TPS apparently they can only control unwanted phone calls in UK, have no powers to monitor calls from abroad.

I had 4 calls today. Twice I said nothing and they said nothing. Once I said hello and got no reply. The last time I said 'hello who's there?' there was just a long creepy silence. Then I said tell me who you are and don't hang up - reply sounded snidey - "why you cryin? ha ha" (SE Asian accent). Whoever they are they deserve some come-upance.

Vile little man who, when asked where he had obtained my number, claimed he had been sold my number by BT. I told him I was registered with the TPS and he responded "calm down dear". Hadn't raised my voice at this point but I did then to ask him not to talk to me. Husband took the phone at this point and demanded to know what he had said to me. Vile man called him a c-u-next-Tuesday and a motherf*****r before hanging up. Called back but number didn't work.

Just been called by Indian sounding man saying he was from National Accident Helpline and had I had an accident. When I said no he put the phone down. As our number is ex-d I rand NAH to complain and also to ask how they got our number. Was told by a very helpful lady that NAH do not cold call. She asked for details of the call and tel number and said she would be reporting to Claims Management Regulator and the Independent Commissioning Officer for further action/ investigation.
We all need to report these calls to stop the scammers

Like everyone else here this number has been calling me each week for about 5 months. They claim someone at my number has recently had an accident. My number is ex directory and I have never had an accident. National Accudent Helpline - the company they claim to be calling from - report that there are a number of scammers using their name to get personal information. I have always just put the phone down, last week I told him to F off. Tonight I pretended to be upset at the thought of someone in my house having an accident. The guy on the other end laughed and said goodnight - then called me back. I do f think they like being called cnutz FYI.

Any ideas how to stop the calls?!? Until then, I'm going to practise my most offensive language on them. Pity the fools.
