And told them to remove my details - lets see if I get the response I want, ie removal of my number which is ex directory and on the TPS

This number started phoning me too 2 weeks ago. Not sure where they have got my number from but have phoned monday to friday between 12 and 12:30 lunch time. whilst I am working ans left missed calls. I too have tried to phone back and number not recognised. I did however add a 1 instead of a 0 on the end to try a different extension and think it went through to fax machine. Very annoying, if I finally get to answer it, I too will tell them to sod off !!!

They are a subscription service for childrens educational aids, unless I am using the wrong search terms I've not really found anything about them being a scam but a lot about them using an automated cold call machine and their methods sof generating business. Basically the machine rings a list of numbers from a database and if someone answers it then goes off to find an operator who is free, if no-one is free the recipient gets a minute of background noise and then the line goes dead, otherwise they get put through.

Mychild appears on most competition websites like getmeaticket, myoffers, prizefinder etc so the odds are if you or someone else in your house has entered their details on one of these site then thats how they got your number, it could even be someone miss-typing their mobile number.

FYI, I actually use them and having looked at the software they offer and the workbooks etc they seem reasonably legit, the kids like their stuff anyway

I have been receiving daily calls from My Child Magazine (www.mychild.co.uk) for the last couple of weeks but I haven't spoken to them since the first call they made. A male caller from this number left me an odd message on my answerphone this morning - a long sigh, followed by a little song ... "Stay up 'til 4 in the morning ... and my tears are falling ... and I wanna come home...". Then he hung up. The "message" made me laugh but this company obviously recruits staff that are not exactly professional or experienced in telesales. Initially I was interested in the product they were offering, but I am not now!

im also glad i found this page. im getting calls even on the weekends! 3 times a day, its a joke.

i am getting very annoyed with this nimber calling me 9/10 times a day, they call at stupid times like 3/4am how did they get our number :s any1 no?

well i started to get these calls about 3 months ago,, little at first now everyday,i reported it to my local police station ,n there in breach or some sort of contract, so i shall be ringing them tomoz giving them a piece of my mind!!

0207 430 9440 rang me at 1.30pm 15/03/08, asked by Name for me and then hung up.  Tried ringing back but number no longer in use.Rang BT but they were TOTALLY unhelpful as "it's not a BT number Madam", there'a a surprise! Googled number and found this web page. Can anything be done, within the law, to stop this company/person making these calls?

1st call from these people today on my mobile.  Got background noise then someone said hello then hung up.  Glad I found this site, won't be answering in future!!! x

Called today  by 02074309440 claimed to be HR something, husband didnt catch full name, asking for me giving my husband the name John. He said I was unavailable so the caller said he would call me back tomorrow
When I tried to call the number back it is unobtainable

anyone find out what these calls are about yet, ive just recieved 1 they asked if i was ------------ ---------- and when i said yes they cut off.

this number called my home phone which is ex directory a few days ago asked for my partner (by first name) when i told the women at the other end that he wasnt here she hung up. today they phoned again didnt say anything then hung up. it really p***** me off that these people can get my number.

had a call from this number noone on otherend and cant call back had this call about the same time everyday for about a week....

my daughter answered fone and the woman on the other end asked for me. When i took the fone and said hello they just hung up. After reading ur stories i find this very worrying.

We have been getting calls from this number about 5 times a day for the past 3/4 weeks. It is driving us all mad!! The only communication from them has been a background noise on the answer machine. I think BT has a feature where you can block unwanted numbers..... am going to check it out!

Bt has offered a service to reduce silent/unwanted calls, and also recommended going to OFCOM's website: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/silent/
