Report a phone call from 02078909052 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- stresseddaz| 3 repliesSome market research firm called GFK NOP.
I asked how much they'd pay me per minute to answer their questions, when they said they dont pay the people they call, I told her to go think about that and put the phone down.- Caller: GFKNOP
- Rojer| 2 repliesJust got a call from this number with a strong Indian type accent who refused to identify himself to my wife before talking with me. Quite pushy and aggressive with what seemed a rather dubious intent.
- Caller: Would not confirm identity!
- jen| 6 repliesI got a call from this number, she was very polite explained she was market reserch, so i asked her directly how she got my number as i am ex directory and with TPS, i am staggered by her response, they take all of the numbers out of the phone book and change the last digit!!!! so if she was given her own number (02078909052) she would dial 02078909050, 02078909051, 02078909053, right through to 9 apparently it's called random dialling!!
- anonymous| 1 replyi got one while my mum was out and i got the same response: GFKNOP market survey. i just said i was 15 and hung up
- Caller: GFKNOP
- Anonym| 1 replyI recieved an unsolicited call from this number today at 18.45hrs but the hung up before I could answer and as I am disabled this causes me much unneeded discomfort. As I have no business with them and have no wish to do business with them I would be most gratefull if they were never allowed to disturb me again. will
- Caller: GFK
- SteveJust got a missed call from this numer, glad I didn't answer it.
- Mark| 1 replyA woman called my landline number claiming to be u'ndertaking market research for financial companies and would I have five minutes to complete a survey'. Somehow they knew my name (I am not the person who pays the bills for this number). I immediately hung up. Called me back twice later that day but I didn't answer it.
- Caller: would not identify
- Jeni Newalljust had a call from this no. it is 19 35 on a sunday, some indian guy wanting to do market research, when i said i wasnt interested he hung up immediatly
- SamI had several missed calls from this number and a call that my mum answered while I was out. They asked for me by name and said they were doing a survey. Called again today and I answered. It was a man with an indian accent who again asked to speak to me by name. No idea how they knew my name and telephone number as I am not listed. Explained he was doing market research and would I mind answering some questions. Went along with it as I wanted to know what he would ask. Asked my age, random questions about the professions of family members then started asking me if I had any personal loans, mortgage, credit cards, savings/current account. Then started to ask which bank/building society I was with. When I explained that I didn't feel comfortable answering a question like that over the phone to a stranger, he asked me to say yes or no to the banks he started to rattle off, when I again refused he thanked me for my time and hung up. Rather suspicious in my opinion.
- julieI got a call from this number today - rushed downstairs to answer but they rang off - aaaaaaaaaaah - so glad I missed it - if only they had never rang in the frist place
- IanCalled at 18:20 - they called a business number and when I answered with the business name the line died - scum.
- monkiAnnoying aren't they? I recommned putting the mouthpiece as far down your gob as you can and screaming as loudly as possible. They won't be able to call anyone with perforated ear drums.
Or you could try http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/
Or you could request that you number is removed from their database. If they continue to call you, after 28 days make a subject access request under the data protection act (will cost a few quid). If they still have your details on file, they're beraking the law.
Prefer the ear drum option though. Far more satisfying :)- Caller: GFK NOP
- Matt| 1 replyGot a call from these clowns at 9:30 on a Friday evening! They insisted that they were doing research on behalf of my bank (which they could name) and wanted to survey me about a complaint! Where do they get their info?!
- Caller: GFK NOP
- LuigiJust got a missed call from this numer, glad I didn't answer it.
- Lorraine Copley| 1 replyRESPONSE TO MY EMAIL:
Thank you for your enquiry with regards the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). You were concerned that you had been contacted by telephone as you are registered to the TPS.
The purpose of the TPS is to screen unsolicited direct marketing calls. Market research is not, under the current UK Data Protection Act 1998, classed as direct marketing; therefore, there is no legal requirement to screen market research samples against the preferences services when conducting market research. The reason for this exemption is that market research meets the conditions:
a) that the data are not processed to support measures or decisions with respect to particular individuals, and
b) that the data are not processed in such a way that substantial damage or substantial distress is, or is likely to be, caused to any data subject.
Section 33, Paragraph 1, UK Data Protection Act 1998
GfK NOP is bound by the Market Research Society’s (MRS) Code of Conduct, the emphasis of which is on respondent confidentiality; in addition, we take our obligations under the UK Data Protection Act very seriously. If you require further information on the application of the data protection requirements within market research you can view the MRS Society’s own guidelines “The Data Protection Act and Market Research” available on their website at: http://www.mrs.org.uk/standards/dp.htm#dpa98.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. I will add your number to our 'do not call' list which will prevent you from receiving further calls from our company.
Very Kind Regards
Lindsey Betteridge
