- Ms MI was called by the same number on Saturday morning and again just now. Yesterday I had a missed call from 01252 576300. Having googled the missed number yesterday, I had a vague idea that something wasn't right. The guy on the telephone asked me if I was so-and-so and lived at x address - he said he wanted to confirm a delivery of a letter or make sure the details were correct for sending a letter (the info changes through the call) I challenged him throughout the conversation and his answers were not convincing. I told him that this was not a good time to talk to him, besides the line was very bad, I managed to get his contact details -Neil at Telogram on 01252 576376 and he gave me an alleged reference for the 'letter'. If these people do call again I will be contacting the police and Ofcom, as well as my mobile phone company to alert them to the problem.

- Chris| 4 repliesI have had repeated silent calls of this number recently. Just had another so I called it back to complain. Woman called Kathy answered and asked for a reference. I said that I didn't have one and had called to complain. I put it to her that they were actually Capquest, and she denied it, gave me details on the company registration, said they were registered at 100 Barbirolli Squate,Manchester M2 3AB, called Telograms. The registered number she gave me was 05484229. I said I wanted to register a formal complaint so she put me through to a supervisor, who essentially said the same things. She said they had the number for a person who, to my knowledge, has never lived here. I said that I would be complaining to the authorities if I received another call, and she said I wouldn't receive any more.
Within 5 minutes I had another call from them, this time a bloke actually spoke, I told him that I had just complained and was assured that I would receive no more calls, and he hung up. I am now keeping a log of these calls, and will be complaining the next time one is received.- Caller: Telograms
- VikkiI had a call from 02084958734 saying they where looking for a Kelly Hickson from Red Road, This is not me, they said they where from Telegram company, was i sure i didnt know who this was! OBVIOUSLY I DONT!! or i would have said!

- Mr RAfter being stressed out with 60K debt problems I went away travelling the world. Just got back home. Only switched on my old mobile phone yesterday. At 8 o'clock this morning, waking me up, I had received a missed call from the number 02084958734 and then another call not long after (same number 02084958734) which I answered this time. The women on the end was very rude and wanted all my details Name, address etc. I could tell it was a debt collection agency from the way she spoke. I asked who she was and she said her company was called Telegram and that she had an important telegram for me. I said that I had just purchased the phone and that I was not the person she was after. After doing a Google search, seems like it's that vile company Capquest that has purchased some of my debts from the banks. Looks like I had better duck and dive a while longer. Back to OZ me thinks!!

- LucyI have had a few calls from this number asking for someone that "apparently" lived at my address before me. I said that I can't believe they had my mobile phone number as a contact for this person. When I asked what the call was about they said they had a telogram to deliver and wanted to check the address. I have told them that if I rreceive any more calls I will be complaining.

- Mr SmithOwing HSBC a little bit of money has been some of the most fun I've had in a long while. The story started with HSBC getting rid of my authorised overdraft - I was within the overdraft, but because regular payments hadn't been going in, they removed it and plunged me just £3,000 into debt. I said to them that if they put my overdraft back on I would deposit £4,000 in straight away. The person on the phone said "no - we don't have to do that", so I said "Well I don't have to pay you back then", and that was the start of the fun! Anyways; a long story short - I have officially been living in a van for the last 5 years and all they have is a mobile number to contact me on. Just this morning I received a call from the 'telegrams' number, where a woman told me that they had some post for me. I said to her that I don't have a fixed address and asked whether they could open my mail to tell me what it was and interestingly enough she said exactly this "I cannot tell you WHO it is from until we have a forwarding address to put into the system". This line seems to give away that she knew who the mail was from but wouldn't tell me until I complied. To end the call I simply said I'm currently trying to get my act together and rent a place, but until I have any money, I cannot afford to do that. I said I'd call them back in a couple of months... The saga continues...Lovely stuff!

- Paul Dennishad a call from this number, 0208 4958734, who had an address for me but no number. He was being too secretive, so I returned the favour. He said the company was called TALLOWGRAMS. No match on the web, obviously a lie!
- JULESThanks for all the eyeopening comments if i had'nt got on the net i would'nt of been any better off and oblivious to such paracites, thanks all but where do you go from here?

- Steve| 3 repliesFirst off all you usually get a lettter then a phone call.
Ignore the letter and if your depts are over 6 years old this may help.
(Statute Barred
A debt is considered Statute Barred if a creditor has not contacted a debtor for a period of 6 years and no action has been taken on the account.
Although the debt is still legally acknowledged as being owed, the creditor is not able to take any legal action against the debtor in order to recover the debt. It is considered unfair if a creditor or debt collector misleads the debtor into believing the debt is still legally recoverable. It is also considered an unfair practice if the creditor or debt collector press for payment after the debtor has stated they will not be paying the money owed. This could amount to harassment contrary to Section 40(1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1970.) - Ms NI had a letter sent to my mothers address & then phone calls from these people also known as Capquest with my last known address 16 years ago! I was declared bankrupt in 1993 and left the UK shortly after, I did call them and told them of my bankruptcy & even if there were existing debts from then they would be statute barred as I have been out of the country for such a long time. I have told them not to contact my mother again because if they do I will report them to the CSA & the office of fair trading.

- Kojo replies to Chris| 3 repliesI have just called this number (anonymously) after being conned into giving my details. I asked the guy if they were CapQuest and he admitted that they were indeed affiliated.
- Daveyboy replies to Kojo| 2 repliesI told the guy from capquest to come round and see me. I said that we could have a fight on my lawn and that if I won then the debt was void and if he won then I would pay up. Unfortunately he declined my offer.....how about that?
- Joanne Tyrer| 1 replyThis number phoned my mum and lied about an important telegram (it was capquest or capstone), and because her mum has just died she was eager to get the telegram and gave her details, the caller was a Scottish male (they do come in female form as well). Unfortunately he then hung up after mentioning something about Great Universal Catalogue and 1997, she found it extremely hard to distinguish what the man was saying and was left distressed and confused about the whole conversation. They then had the misfortune to be called back by me, who wiped the floor with the first person that answered the phone and it was then supposedly handed to the manager who gave me a Manchester address, (did I forget to mention that both people I spoke to denied that the caller had lied about telling my mum he had a telegram for her), I told him he better apologise and that I want a copy of the conversation that the caller had conducted with my mum, as I assume being professionals that they record all their calls for customer and employee protection, he said he did but it would cost me £10 to purchase it, I said I didn't need to purchase it as we will be seeking legal advice. I then told him they are lowlifes and I'm at the end of my Business & Management Degree and I have undertaken a legal course and that they have messed with the wrong person's mother. I then got off the phone and they phoned my mum back, supposedly to appease the situation, apologise and explain the situation, but instead he asked for her details again after telling him about her mother dying, (WHAT A SCUMBAG). She said I don't think your getting my details a second time and put the phone down, I'm assuming the recording they took doesn't count and can't be used because they lied and he was trying to get her details a second time. I phoned them back told them I googled the number, told them I doubted the address was a genuine one, informed them of how many people had complained about them online, told them to keep all their evidence and if need be I'll see them in court. I SAY TAKE HEED FROM MY MOTHER'S EXPERIENCE, DON'T GIVE INFORMATION OUT, IF THESE PEOPLE DO THIS TO YOU SPREAD IT FOR OTHERS ON ALL THE NETWORKING SITES (FACEBOOK, MSN) PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS AND FINALLY PHONE THEM DAY AND NIGHT, HARRASS THEM SO THEY CAN'T PHONE OUT ON THEIR LINE AND DISTRESS ANY MORE PEOPLE!

- lynJust had a phone call from 02084958734 calling themselves 'telegram'. They said they had correspondence for a Kevin James. I told them no-one of that name lived here and we had lived here for 30 years. They knew my address and I asked them where they got my telephone number from. They did not tell me and said they would delete my number from their records. I told them I was not going to let it rest there but I do not know where to start. After reading all these postings I am astounded that a debt collection agency is contacting me as in 43 years of marriage we have NEVER had any debts and do not know why these people are contacting us. We have had some strange letters addressed to various named people sent here in the past couple of years regarding debt collection. Is someone using our address and if so what can we do about it? Has anyone resolved this problem?
