Caller claims to get number from Microsoft and tells you they can clear viruses from computers - DO NOT TRUST this company they have been scamming hundreds of pounds from people

Yep same here, woman with South Asian accent and very poor accent (obviously reading from script) tried to get me to open "run" box in windows, presumably so they could add a ropey prompt directly into windows, probably corrupt it and then charge to remove same. I asked her a couple of outright bogus questions which she didn't seem to know were tripe. Bargepole job!

Their aim is to get remote access to the computer and they will tell you all sorts of lies to get it.  If they succeed, they will install spyware/malware to steal personal information like bank details and passwords.  They have nothing to do with Microsoft, who never phone, and know nothing at all about your computer.  Sometimes they tell you they have the unique reference number of your computer and tell you where to find it.  The number is, in fact, the Windows Licence Number and is the same on all computers, worldwide, which run Windows.  There is a warning about this scam on the Microsoft website and there have been several BBC TV programmes recently exposing the scam.

Just had a call from this number regarding my computer,(have had loads from them in the past) told them where to get off and they became abusive. It is so annoying when you are in the middle of business.

Just had another call from this number, male was very insistent that I put the call through to my partner (the listed phone holder), normally the calls are shown as coming from 'international'.  Usual procedure that you have a software problem etc. Just tell them computer not in use etc and put phone down!

Keep them talking but dont let them into your pc,  Register with the TPS and then report the number, they will get a hefty fine.

These scammers have been calling non-stop for months and no matter how many times you tell them to get lost they persist. They are scum, total scum. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!! They identify themselves as Help PC Online and are total frauds.

Just hung up after being called a stupid Woman....not so stupid, didn't ask for the call and wouldn't follow his instructions to ...fix my computer! apparently Amazon passed on my details? and Microsoft asked him to call!! If I buy online can I stop my details from being sold on without my permission....anyone as frustrated as me?? I don't want unsolicited calls and then waffle followed by insults!

They also know your lastname, no idea where they have got it from.

A chap claiming they had received a report to say I had problems with Windows on my computer, which I do not have.  I have received similar calls in the past, and know that they are trying to con money out of people.  Telling the caller that you only use an Apple Mac usually does the trick.  Feel free to string them along for sport, though, as this wastes their time!

Had a call from these pests today, difficult to understand adamn word to start with, the person said I had a problem with my pc and he was going to help me resolve it, I suggested that he was pulling a fast one and hung up. Just hope people don't get caught out by this scam.

I had a phone call today from this number - when the man started his spiel I interrupted to say I don't wish to receive cold calls, and he rudely asked "Why did you answer the phone then?"!!  I am usually just irritated by this type of call but was actually really shocked by this rudeness!

I had a call from this man with an Indian accent, he told me I was already registered with them and that I had problems on my computer. I told him I haven't got a computer, and he had the rude cheek to tell me I was lying - never mind that I was, but I then put the phone down!!

They called me today same scam,
As I was bored and managed to bait them for 25 minutes before the operator gave up. he put down the phone when I told the operator to keep on going as I had not had such a good laugh at someone elses incompetence in ages.
at least that 25 minutes less he could use phoning someone else

Had 3 calls so far from this number.  Each time the phone is immediately hung up

had phone call from this number saying they were from bt and that I was having problems with my computer I told them that I didnt have one they put phone down

I just got a call from this number, telling me that I had technical problems with my computer. I asked which one. he said your main one, I just told him that I havn't got time to talk and put the phone down, I have been building computers for years, cant pull the wool over my eyes lol

Phone just rang, no one answered my "hello" within 4 seconds so I hung up :)  (which I do no matter who calls !) Then immediately plugged in the number here to find all your helpful posts.  I've had calls from these people before I think but I'm not sure the number has ever appeared on the caller id before.
