WATCH OUT!!  Calls from this number is trying to sell you ads on Facebook.  This is a scam, the caller introduces himself as Frans du Plessis and then proceeds to talk to you in a distictive english accent.  I searched the internet and found various references to this company reporting the SCAM.  Do not spend any money with them, it is a SCAM.

yes i have had three calls, i wasn't totally convinced that they could take me to court, as i have signed nothing or agreed to nothing. But they seemed very professional, all english! i said i would not do a credit card transaction, so they gave me their bank details to do a bankers draft. I was scared when they mentioned a court case. i was searching the internet to check up, and i found this blog thank god!! yeah how do you get rid of them, as the last guy seemed quite aggressive.

Response to them - the Consumer Protection Act (unless your company is a 'juristic person', not a membership organisation PLUS has an annual turnover or assets worth over R2 million). Came in April 2011 and makes 'suppliers' responsible for their business practices. It is their responsibility to prevent any ambiguity or pressure in their sales techniques. Ask them to provide proof of exactly what they offered (including the possible benefits - it is their responsibility not to exaggerate) and you agreed to, not a vague telephone call referring to a 'campaign'.

You could also ask about the supposed UK business, ask them about it's registration & address with the UK authorities (google 'Companies House' and select Webcheck & type in their name - there aren't any UK companies with that name & address. This info is free).

Ask why a supposed agreement with a supposed UK company results in being threatened with legal action by a South African company, and the nature of the relationship between this 'UK company' and the South African company.

If they won't answer & threaten legal action, point out that pressure & duress contravenes the Consumer Protection Act, that you are only trying to establish the validity of the supposed contract under South African law.

I am the legal manager for FBG Internet. We provide Facebook advertising on a worldwide basis. These blogs have been written by people who did not get the results they expected from their advertising campaign and are now bitter about this. FBG Internet has thousands of clients worldwide and the vast majority of clients are very happy and renew their services every month. We cannot stop bitter people from writing blogs but do not let them put you off from having a successful advertising campaign. From thousands of clients over 80% renew their advertising every month and they all claim to receive new business as a result. FBG Internet do not keep any clients to long term contracts and simply deal with them month to month so all clients have the option to cancel at any time with no long term commitment involved. I can be contacted at any time on Tel: 0213002796 if you wish to discuss any matters. Hans Du Plessis

I have no interest in your company or any connection with it.  The only reason I am posting here is that on another thread from Law Services Dept there were unpleasant threats to people posting about your company.  I then made it my business to look at other forums all complaining about your company and also threats of legal action from your company.  These threats did not seem to be carried through, so is this just a case of bullying and trying to frighten people?

    Hi there
I got the same from these scammers. They are now scamming South African small businesses! I paid them R1784.10 on the 14th June 2012 and now they want to sue us for R5900 odd.
I see his name is now Michael Bond!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do these people sleep at night?

Everyone needs to open a case at the SAP.  I know that the Hawks are now involved so it is a matter of time before they are caught but every bit of information is crucial otherwise you are just encouraging them to carry on committing fraud.

Please go to the police and report them to make our cases BIG!

Report it to the Police so they can track them down PLEASE

Just write your report and take it to the Police and you will get a case no and tell them to hand it over to the Commercial Branch which is the Hawks

They are a search engine optimization "service", which phones you & sucks you into a "verbal contract" which if not cancelled within a certain time, automatically carries over for 2 months. They operate as "The Tech-Guys" , "The Technical Guys" , "SEO7K" & law firm "Roberts & Gunn". All have remarkably English accents for people based in Cape Town.
