Just got a call from this number too, i'm in Dublin in a newish apartment block, only have my phone line for about 8 months so whoever it is has access to fairly recent phone listings. It was a message offering a holiday to Cape Verde, and as above, to press 9 to enter the competition, (7 days, 6 nights holdiay), I just hung up straight away, so strange that there are only 2 Google results when searched.
Just got a call from this number, same as above, press 9 to claim my 'prize'. Maybe I should have because she said I was specially chosen lol. I'm going to leave the call open for a while so they can't call anyone else.
My mother just got a call from this number, same as above, was offered a "holiday" in Cancun by Air Lingus and told to press 9. She did so and was put through to a man (with an American accent - fake?) who claimed it was Disneyland Florida. He kept repeating, "This is Disneyland Florida, will you accept?" When she said, "Accept what? Who am I talking to?" He continued to repeat the above. He hung up. I too am in Ireland.
Just got a missed call from this number - I rang it back - it's an "irish ring tone" but as yet nobody has answered...... however, I'm amazed that they are able to cold call me as I've "opted out" with Eircom data base - so they are breaking the law contacting me........
just got a call off this number... hung up as soon as I heard them saying press 9 to receive your prize... then tried to redial and the line goes dead before I enter the last 2 digits
Got a call on Saturday 26 April 08 offering an Aer Lingus flight to Orlando, Florida. Hung up immediately. I opted out of direct mailing calls over a year ago. So I've reported it to ComReg as they are breaking the law.
Called me at home. I pressed 9, out of curiosity and was put on hold. About 10 seconds later I was put onto a male voice, but he could not hear me, but was talking to me (or I thought), I then realized that I was listening into a convo between this company and others.
I have found out their name:
Vacations Travels Unlimited.
I believe that they are calling from Singapore, yet they claim they are in Orlando.
They are saying that people are using their travel rewards points.
So far (out of about 12 calls) 3 people have handed out their details.
Just got a call from this number and rang it back as i thought it was my friend in cork. It rang out numerous times and then it was an off the hook tone. it is a Cork city center number as the 021427 part is the same as many business's in Cork. Glad i found this web site as it would have bugged me not knowing who it was.(must have very little to worry about i know).
I heard about 15-20 calls total, and one time I heard them, when asked, that the name was "Vacations Travels Unlimited", now he said that very quickly, and was hard to understand, but it was something like what I have above.
Another agent said it was something like "A valid Trip", but not sure if that was in relation to the company name.
One agent, who was obviously cursed at, replied with "Im going to f***ing max out your card", then he hung up the phone.
I think they do verify the details of the CC right there (to see if it legit I presume), and then will reply with " ohhh, you have a great history at MasterCard (or Visa), and we will also throw in on top of the Cruise, 6 night in Orlando, 3 in Daytona Beach, and 3 in Fort lauderdale".
When we rang up the Fraud department @ Visa, and asked why they did business with them, we were told that they are "a legit business". We told them of the scam, and were told in return that "yes, lots of people ring us up each week saying that this company charged them", but they dont seem to do anything about it, or at least would not tell us on the phone. The person who we were talking to kept on saying that "if you give your credit card details out like this then you will be charged", he didnt seem to understand (or care?) that people are actually not accepting a charge on their CC.
I saw this number on my caller ID, Googled it and found your website which seems to be a good service. Like many others I am offcially supposed to be opted out of cold calls.
I heard on the radio that this company did a recent wave on Denmark and has not moved on the Ireland, possibly in relation with the Aer Lingus 50th anniversary.
Read about it on The Examiner on Saturday. Sure enough they rang me about 20minutes ago heard the words Dublin to Orlando and I hung up. Odd stuff really!
