These guys should be shot (not to kill but cause long suffering pain). They called my father who handed the phone to me. Gave them wrong card details as they wanted it to confirm my fathers ID but they knew it was incorrect. Stupidly gave them the correct card number and expiry date. It was only when they asked for the security code at the back of the card I stopped giving him any further details. He threatened to take money out of the account if I did not continue feeding him with the security code. Hung up but they kept calling back. Like others on this board he said the company, UK Finance Organisation - 02256800256, was authorized by the High Court to get me a refund on overcharge fees and ppi. The Indian guy over the phone (named Brain) was rude, abusive and threatening. Will be cancelling my bank card just to be on the safe side as they have my card number and expiry date. Best thing one can do is hangup  asap.

Received a call from 02256800256 stating they were from the UK Department of Finance and I had been overpaying on several account and I had monies to be refunded and they needed to verify who I was and did I have my bank card available.  I stated that I did but would not give any of the details on that card over the telephone to someone I did not know.  They then proceeded to give all the details on my card correctly but asked me to verify the security code on the reverse of the card, which refused to do.  He also knew my DOB and address.  I then terminated the call and after 30 seconds picked up the telephone to call my bank.  When I picked up the handset the caller was still in the line and again tried to get the 3 figure security number and got quite irate when I refused.  I again terminated the call and waited 30 minutes before calling my bank and cancelled the card in question.

I've just received this call from 02256800256, claiming to be a financial consultancy with a refund for bank charges.
As I've not had any bank charges it gave it away.

The Indian with very poor english confirmed my name, DoB, full address including postcode and dialed me on my Ex-Directory number.

He gave me the first 6 digits of my bank card then asked for the rest. These first 6 digits are fixed for the type of card and issuing bank, but he did correctly guess (or knew) at the bank I use.

I thought after that I should try and give the wrong card number and see if he actually knew it?

It was a very clever scam and called twice through the day before I answered and rang back twice after I hung up on him. Very persistant!

    Note I'm based in Stoke-on-Trent

Keep getting calls from this number.  Pain in the backside.  When I answer nobody is there.  They left a message on my answer phone the other day and when I played it back there was nobody there either.  Who can stop these double glazing, solar panel, PPI claims etc. people from harassing people?

Losers rang circa 15.11 today 26/11/12.  No speak.  Looking at the above experiences, I guess they are trying it on to get you to give details of your bank account so they can plunder same using refund of bank charges, PPI etc as an excuse.

News for you lads and lassies - I use my solicitor to do this sort of thing for me where necessary.  Like to meet him??

Got 4 calls in 2 days but cuts off just as I pick up phone. I wondered if it was tempting me to phone the no. back & it wld be an expensive call, but reading yr comments it doesn't seem to be that. I will simply bar that no. Scammers are low-lives aren't they.

I have been getting these calls virtually every day so as I see from the comments being made on this website I am not the only one.
Therefore can you explain why OfTel are not pressuring the telephone companies to sort this out??
It obviously means that this is another company set up to protect consumers who are not meeting there objectives.
Why don't we get rid of all the Taliban [***] out of our country and this will help to stop these scams happening. It will also help to safeguard our children!!

Constant calls from 02256800256 young man with an Indian accent . Problem is he seems to be trying to befriend my youngest daughter and today he had the gall to ring 3 times and the last time he asked for my daughter by name.Apparently he has spoken to her a couple of times and today he actually asked to speak to her and said he was her friend Peter ! I gave him very short shrift and threatened him with the police. As yet I have not been asked for any bank or financial details but I am ready for him if he rings again. How do I get this number banned.I don't understand how they have got my number in the first place as it is ex directory.

My husband answered this call, and they asked for him by name. He asked who was calling and they responded, "The UK Finance Department." My husband responded "Bull****. There is no such thing. We are on the don't call list. Would you like us to report you?" They hung up.

Do not acknowledge they have the right namejust keep saying no thats not me and when they ask who they are speaking to,ask them why do they need to know and that they must have the wrong number.  I also ask them to wait while i turn the recording maching on to record their conversation  or tell them that all calls to this telephone is being monitered.  Any of these seem to work saves arguing with them.Good luck
