just now this number call me but i missed this call

Received a text from a mbl sayign to call GARY on 02-4908-7255. It also referenced to a quote Number and sent today when I know there was no quotes I requested.

Jsut received text saying "You return call is important. Please call JADE on 0249087255, quoting ref#4851 **** *** sent 14/08/09@11.41

Thhis is a debt collection agency, don't call back, don't identify yourself, then they can never make contact with you!

This is a collections agency called COLLECTION HOUSE, they're debt collectors.
If you call back and quote your reference number and name, You will be identifying yourself.

That's actually not true. They can continue contacting you up to 3 times per week (depending on what state your in) until you make a commitment to pay the debt. Avoiding debt doesn't help, in fact the debt collectors don't really care if you call back.... Your only hurting yourself as you will probably get sued.

Im not avoiding them. It makes good sense to not give personal detaisl to a stranger over the phone.

Hmmmmm. That's a great way to look at it. When you get sued and your wages garnisheed, and you can no longer afford to pay your phone bill because all your money is taken by the court, your phone will be cut off. Then you will be safe from collectors who will no longer be able to call you to ask you to pay money you OWE!!

I don't owe anyone any money and they've somehow got my phone number.  I don't have any experience with collection agencies because I always pay my bills, but I have heard that collection agencies like this are just parasitic maggots.  How did they get my number?

Got a sms from 02-4908-7255 requesting I call them with a reference number. I called and it was a collections firm acting for Origin Energy.

These people are dodgy.  They keep claiming my husband and I owe money for an AGL bill for an address we used to live at even though the bill is in the incorrect name.  Our AGL bill always used to come in my name only as it was a brand new house and I set up all of the gas / phone etc.  The bill they want us to pay is in my husbands name and a name that isnt mine.  They offer me a "discount" if I pay it straight away.  I have asked them 4 times to send me a copy of the bill and it never arrives (this has now been going on for 3 years - they call about once every 9 months and have a different agency name)

I have been receiving these calls on and off for about a year. When I last spoke I did not confirm who I was and simply said if you are genuinely acting you will put your claim in writing.

To date I have received nothing in writing and have been at the same address for 8 years.

If I owed money I am sure I would have received reminders from the service provider or person they are acting for prior to the matter going to a debt collector.

never ever will I give a stranger my full name, birth  details and address without knowing the reason I don't care if you have a fKn website for me to confirm your existence. These morons won't tell me why they are calling then dnt call me! I know for damn sure I have no debts apart from some [***] that happened years ago between origin and agl who played pass the parcel with my bills same meters two bills for the same period which when threatened with a complaint to the ombudsmen they dropped the issue. StillI've kept all my bills all this time cuz u never know! I'll surely lay a complaint this time round? If that's why these idiots are calling. They refuse to tell you the purpose of the call ?? Well hello I'm not putting myself out to be scammed so hell to the no I ain't giving personal details out. The one time I actually called them back they told me they were collecting money for AGL.  I've never had an AGL account.  I am with a different provider.  I told them I did not know who they were, and was not giving them my address or any other details.  I asked them if they could send the details of this supposed account to my email address so I could look at it and call them back and they said yes.  They didn't.  And they are still calling.
