I got a call from this number today at 14:50 no message was left.

The number is Lion Finance. They are a debt collection agency.

Essentially, they buy your old debts for nothing a try to collect on them within the 6 year time period.

They we're trying to establish if I was the person they were chasing - same name I suspect.

Either way, I told them I didn't feel comfortable giving them my date of birth, address, middle name etc etc and left it at that.

Someone called me from this number 0249087288 and ask my date of birth

Joan from a finance company on that phone number called 2 days in a row asking for a person with same surname and address as mine but it was not me. She asked me for so many personal details about me, although I said from beginning there is no person in this office named like she asked for.
Joan called again today to speak to one of my employees whose first name is the same as the person she is looking for but my employee has a totally different surname as the person Joan is looking for. I feel really uncomfortable with this sort of phone calls that has nothing related to me. What can I do to stop this sort of phone calls?

What does the 6 year time period relate to ?

Statute of limitations. Can't collect debts older than 6 years. Unless you acknowledge them. So don't answer the phone and confirm your name and only ever repay the original company you owe money to.

Most annoying company, have rung as early as 6.30amon several occasions looking for someone who must have had a similar number to mine

These people call all the time and do not care about calling neighbours friends and family to find you, I also found out that this is illegal for them to do so.

Which Lion Finance is it is what I would like to know. Is it this one?

How do they locate your place of employment and and is it legal for them to ring it when you don't give them authority too.

My young daughter took a call from a lady this morning looking for me...she only had my middle name and surname and wanted to verify I lived there...she asked my daughter for our address, my date of birth, my mobile!! (Which she didn't give out luckily). She claimed that she needed to speak to me urgently regarding a personal matter and that she was from my past!!! When my daughter told me about the call I immediately googled the number to find out who it was - and found this site...Is there any way to report these people???

accc act stipulates that giving your personal details to anyone even your own family is breaching the privacy act - and they cannot contact you more than twice a week, if you are the debtor -

Got a call from them at early hours of this morning asking for the details of my next door neighbour I don't even know. Id love to know how the hell they got my name and my number when my sims not even in my name and how they knew where I live when the address details haven't been updated. Thinking the police might be in need of contact!

Is it really illegal for them to contact other familiy members or relatives?! This happened to someone I know, and their grandparents part-paid the debt!! Unbelievable!

I have had this number try and call several times, I then got a hand written note stuck to my door and a letter saying we know where you live!!?? Really what the!

Our office has been ringing us, I rang the number back a lady named Emily answered, I told her this number had been ringing our office and hanging up on us when we state who we are... she then hung up on me..
