I keep having missed calls from this number, and when i try to ring back there is no dial tone.

I've had missed calls from the same number. No idea who it is. Telemarketers perhaps?

exactly the same. I get missed calls from them, doesn't work when I call back and there is no message. I assume it is telemarketers and by chance I keep missing the call.

Same number 02-4978-5900.. It apparently comes from New Castle or the Lower Hunter Valley.
Although there is no dial tone I think it is connected when you call back.
I tried on the mobile (as thats what they call to) and although I heard no dial tone or anything else, the timer started counting as though it was connected.
Could be a call-back scam perhaps.
It would be wise to check what the call costs are to that number.
When I checked, it hadn't gone through.

I took the call. Just ask to be put on the do not call list and they won't try to sell you anything. I heard Lions Society, but it may have been "Wines Society".

Same thing with me.

Missed calls and the line is busy if I call back.

Same here... I had two today, & no message or dial tone when I tried to call back. Telemarketing I think for sure!

they are from a southern wine company trying to sell there [***] because no one will buy it in the bottle shops.

They are telemarketers for a direct-buy wine company.

these guys r morrons i hope the police track them down as i have had enough gave them the number let see what happens

This number - 0249785900 - is from a Wine Selling company or maybe its marketing and survey department. I just got the call and had a chat with them.

I got a call from this number one week ago saying I'd done a survey & won a free $75 membership with them. They got my email address but never sent any emails, all crap and have now have called me back one week later. After reading everyone's messages they are a company everyone should be aware of in the future.  I was given the impression I was going to get discounts on all this wine.

Same, I have had 4 calls recently and when i tried calling back its engaged signal. I was bit worried at first cause i thought it was someone i didnt want to talk to, i thought they were pranking then putting it off the hook so i couldnt call, back, its a releif to know its not this nutcase lol

Yer I get calls from this number daily and itis very annoying. All I know it is some telemarketing people so now I ignore them.

I'm getting at least 2 missed calls a day from this number........... It's becoming very annoying!!!!  I keep hanging up on them but do you think they'll get the hint......? NOT

Ok, here is what you do:
These people calling you get paid on the number of sales/surveys/calls they complete.
If you hangup on them, it's nice and quick for them and they move on to the next call. No harm done to them.

So my advice is - speak to them!, keep them talking as long as you possibly can!. Dont actually do the survey, or buy anything they're selling - just keep them talking so you take up their time and ruin their profitability. While they're talking to you - they're not making their numbers.

Once they realise that you are a time waster that never buys anything or doesnt answer surveys - they will remove your number from their database! They dont want you as a customer if you impact their business! and surprise surprise - thats exactly what you want too!

Now you may say - But I dont want to talk to them and waste my time. Well if you dont make it a game that YOU can win, they will just keep calling you and annoying you.

My advice - have a bit of fun with them - see how long you can string them along and waste their time. They will stop calling you once you start impacting THEIR business!!

these wankas ring me at all hours of the day and night,wen i ring back there is no ring tone and im friggin sick of it grrrr
