She just laughed loudly down the phone at me so I put the phone down.

I had a call too from 0256458632 whom had a foreign accent.  He said he was representing my service provider and the internet was slow.  He wanted me to type in a web address and download software that would enable him to remotely access my PC.  I asked him which company he was from and he repeated that he was acting on behalf of my service provider.  Again I asked him which company he was from and he replied Virgin Media.  When I told him that I did not have Virgin Media he put the phone down.  This is obvioulsy a scam and they should be investigated and prosecuted.

Just received a call from 02-5645-8632. I said 'hello' a few times but no reply, but could hair voices on the other end. A ladies voice talking to other people around her, and lots of other people talking as if they are in a calling centre. She stated some figures to someone, not known to an another phone or person around her. She sounded as a foreign Indian speak. 'hmmm' wonder who it would been from. First time this call has come to me.

Just had a phone call from a lady with a foreign accent. She says that she was from my broadband provider and she wanted me to go on a website so that if I had any problems with my computer they could fix it. I asked her for her phone number so I could phone her later and she hung up. I didaled 141 and got the phone number. I called my internet provider and they said that they had not called me.

This scam was exposed on "You've been Scammed", BBC TV last November.  These people try to get remote access to your computer by claiming they can fix (nonexistent) faults.  If they get access they will install spyware/malware to steal your info. They may even ask for money, but that is usually after they get access, so even if you refuse and hang up, the damage has been done.  The Director of Security for Microsoft said, on the programme, that neither they, nor their partners, would ever ring you.  It would be a breach of their privacy rules.  Remember, no-one who cold calls you knows anything about your computer, they rely on scare tactics and lack of computer knowledge. You would not give your personal info to a stranger in the street, so why giv e it to a stranger who cold calls you?

Someone from 0256458632 called my parents today claiming to be from virgin media, they said that there was a virus on the computer that was corrupting the service of others in the area and threatened to cut off the internet connection. My parents didn't fall for it and instead contacted virgin to find out if they had tried to contact them, which they hadn't.

Just had a call from Indian person Kevin Patel who said I had a virus on my computer he asked me to go into Team Viewer.com and then had to download some software. This brought up lots of viruses, he then wanted me to pay £199.00 to him which I refused, does this mean he has installed some sort of spyware to get into my account please advise. Worried, normally I do not fall for this but seemed so genuine.
Said he represented Virgin, BT etc

Yes. Read Nan's post on this page. Contact your Internet service provider right away, ask for tech support. Explain the situation to them, and they will tell you what they are able to do about it. Also contact your bank, especially if your details are stored on your computer, and make sure no money was unlawfully drawn from your account.

Just got a call from this number, and after checking this site and seeing it is all about computer hacking they seemed to have not changed there tact. They are now going on about PPI and all the mis-selling hmmmmmmm obviously this Indian call centre has not seen all our newspaper or tv ads for the past year or so......anyway did not give him the time of day but just think any readers should know so they don't get scammed. These bloody Indian call centres should somehow be regulated. vTheir food is great but all else is S**T

Our "TalkTalk broadband service provider" who said his name was Jackson Alexander. When stumped by our questions about where he likes to shop and what the weather was like in Cardiff where he was supposedly calling from, he passed us on to a female colleague who answered the weather question and didn't want to talk about our internet speed or connection at all, so we didn't have much to talk about after that.

I got a call today from this number at 11:49.  A female with a heavy Asian accent told me that there was a virus on my computer and she was from a company representing BT, Sky, Virgin and Talk Talk and they are cleaning up computers to make them faster.  She told me to log on and she would give me a web site to log onto and would then talk me through what to do.  I just knew that it was a scam so delayed her and asked he again what the company was called but she just repeated that she was looking sfter the services for the above named internet service provders.  When I asked her what the web site was she again asked me to start my computer (which I was actually working on on-line at the time - so logged off!!).  She refused to give the web site claiming that only she could talk me through logging on to it.  I told her that she cold-calls me and expects me to give her my control of my computer as she had explained that would happen so she just huffed and put the phone down.  Number obtained via 1471.  Be warned.
