Called and said that he was calling from Australian Tax office and i've won 7000 AUD. And then to transfer money to nay people in india or other countries like srilanka, pakistan, nepal etc using western union money transfer

got a call today from this no, said same that i got a grant from ATO for $7000 and have to call back to claim it, as if i am an idiot

Don't do anything it is a scam

some one called and said that he is calling from ATO and I have been selected for AUD7000 grant from ATO.
He claimed that he is calling from ATO - Confirmation department. He also gave me my file reference and a telephone no. to contact Mr Micheal Adem and speek to him.!!!
looked like a scam so googled the telephone no and eneded up on this page!!!

my mate got a call from same number the pattern is exactly same as described in the above posts
thank god i googled to this page and asked him not to give any info to those frauds.

I too got.a.call.today .. the guys speaking seemed.unprofessional.if it was tha ato wouldn't the officers be Australian?.. and why only western union?.. did anyone get the money?

I work for the ATO and can confidently say this is a scam. These types of scams are particularly common at this time of year. If you ever receive a call (or email/letter) from someone who claims to be from the ATO but you aren't sure about it, call the ATO first.

The number to call for individuals is 132861, which you can check on the ATO website ;)

this is sscam pls dont give him any info I am tax agent and I know what ATO ask you before they start conversation dont send them single dollar toooooooooooooooooooooo.........................good luck

hey we got a call today from the same number offering $7000 from the ATO..the dumb fellow called again after we did not return the call..we have reported this to the ORIGINAL ATO!

I got the similar call and was asked to call this number.

Just got a call from them telling me the tax office is going to give me $7000 told me his name is John William (even though his heavy accent is more like Rogan Josh!!) to call 61004071 with reference A900 and his manager will organise my payment.  Told him he is a scam (as I googled number whilst I was on the phone to him) and to not call me again or anybody else as they don't deserve to be scammed...
