A friend that maintains my computer called Software support (02 8003 5916) and asked were they Microsoft authorized, the answer was no, how did the get my phone number - the phone dropped out.
Called again asked similar questions - the phone dropped out.
Check of log files and interrogated Microsoft Fire wall with nothing obvious. Checked MODEMs firewall setup, again, all okay.- Caller: Software Support
- Cinds replies to Brian BPOSTED THIS SAME POST ON ANOTHER PHONE NUMBER FORUM - JUST THOUGHT I'D RE-POST IT HERE. THE MORE IT'S OUT THERE, HOPEFULLY THE MORE PEOPLE IT HELPS.
I'm In Victoria and got the same number. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, just got the same thing, rang back when I hung up on him, told me I was lying to him about being a Computer Technician (I am a fully qualified Audio Visual Technician and I build Computers to earn a part-time income) and then threatened that the computer was in danger of having a meltdown. Tried to tell me that there were several problems with the computer - seeings I only built this computer and installed it a few months ago, I know what is and isn't wrong with it. Got my back up and eventually got a company name, number and address which funnily enough only led me to this little forum.
Thought I'd share the new number they're using:
02 8003 5916

Guys, don't fall for this stuff, they will just use the remote access to download all your files and sensitive information, they can get passwords and everything through this method if they are clever enough - which they may or may not be but better to be safe than sorry.
I hate to say this because I am not racially motivated, but next time you hear an Indian accent just hang up - the ones who are cold calling you are more often than not, scammers.
Don't trust anyone for that matter, heck I even question people who have an Australian accent because they are getting very sneaky these days.
A couple of days ago I had another Indian bloke telling me he was calling from the Bank of Melbourne... hmmmm, is that the same bank that hasn't existed for over 2-3 years????
Very interesting, wanted account verification before he would even explain to me what the call was about, lucky I was here, otherwise my mum might have fallen victim to it. When I asked for further details, he hung up.
We have caller ID on our phone, the number that appeared was a Sydney number, when I called the police and said I have a number for them, he just said he'd take it but there wasn't much they could do as it was a falsely generated number. So please people, be careful, ask them for their details first before giving any of yours, it is your right to keep your information private.
If it is a legitimate company, the caller will provide you with the full company details, I'd even get an ABN or ACN if you're not too sure then check www.abr.gov.au for the company's information. The caller will also give you their name, their ID, company name and address and what the call is in regards to without you having to give them one single bit of information. I hadn't registered for the Do Not Call register, but I said to him do you realise I'm on the 'Do Not Call' register, he replied, yes ma'am, I am aware of that but I am not selling anything. Then proceeded to tell me I was a liar because if I really was a technician I would know that there are heaps of problems with the computer.
Better to be safe than sorry and stand up for yourself to these people, don't let yourself be bullied by anyone!
I think the guy gave it away when he started calling me a liar. Lucky he wasn't standing face to face, he probably wouldn't have the balls to say something like that to my face anyway! I don't care who you are, whether you are white, black or any other colour, you don't call someone a liar without backing it up.
I live for the day these people call me now, bring it on [***].
P.S. I know this is long enough now, but just wanted to say, please keep posting any new numbers or any information you have as this will help people searching for info on this bogus company and prevent more and more from falling victim to their cowardly crimes. - GerritHad the same call from 02-8003 5916, have reported them to the online.justice.vic.gov.au advised me to warn my bank and report them to the police which I have done.

- MCOh... I took a call from this number today and allowed them to access my computer remotely via a website called Team Viewer. It sounded believable because by chance I was thinking my computer may have been infected.
They wanted $280 to clean my viruses as I am apparently out of warranty, which made me suspicious. So I asked for a number to call them back, which was the one listed in this forum and how I have now found this. So I avoided that cost but they have accessed my computer!!
They were 100% misleading and fraudulent in their answers to my questions. They insisted they are provided access to Microsoft customers so as to monitor for viruses and fix the problems. Granted I was completely foolish to allow anything over the phone, but their behaviour is criminal if they end up stealing any information, passwords etc as a result of this.
Does anyone have advice on what they would have done in probably no more than a few minutes that they could access my computer? And does anyone have an address for them?- Caller: 0280035916
- PatFoolishly, I let these slippery mongrels remotely access my computer for roughly 10 minutes until I became suspicious and ended their little scam session. Fortunately the didn't get my money, but what worries me is the identity theft of any of my personal details that they may have downloaded. This link may help to understand the inherent risks and what to do if you have been a victim.

- Mark AJust had the call from Shane at Software Support for PCs located at 21 George Street Sydney. I said I didn't trust incoming unsolicited callers of this kind but he just kept on talking over me telling me that my PC had a Trojan virus. I asked "which one". He said he could show me but wouldn't tell me - if I'd just allow him to remote in he'd wlk me through it and I'd be able to see for myself.
I repeated asked for a company name and a phone number to call back on which he finally provided. Checked ASIC and could find no such company. Searched more broadly and hit this forum.
Thanks for the interesting reading and for confirming my suspicions.- Caller: Software Support for PCs
