Report a phone call from 02-8005-4980 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- mossko| 2 repliesA guy named Michael De Suza called me up telling me he was from "Help for windows"
Apparently as a genuine windows customer (i'm not) he was calling me to tell me there was an "online infection" but was not a virus and would not turn up in virus scans (suspicious)
I was immediately suspicious and asked how they found my phone number, they said "From your router" which is also impossible
I asked for more details and they transferred me to their "Technical" department who failed to answer any of my questions and I was quickly hung up on- Caller: Help for windows
- clydesyI also got a call from this number, a fellow named kevin jobdan was the caller, he told me about an online infection, similer to the above story. he put me onto their tech who asked me to goole ammyy, when i did this, the scam warnings came up in google. I rang microsoft about & they confirmed it as a scam.

- AndrewA guy called Ron William Watson told me that i had problems with my laptop and told me to press windows + r to check out my event viewer and to check at my warnings and errors to show that i had issues on my computer. Then he told me to tell my internet id and so on and told me to accept this thing which allowed him acces to remotely use my acc. Downloaded Ammyy for me and told me to pay for service and stuff for $400. Pressured me to pay becasue i was mid way of the service.
Do not fall for the trick and end call immediately- Caller: Help4windowsdirectly
- AndreaJust got a call from "Help for Windows" I was speaking to Harry. Told me about online virus that would be infecting my computer. Told me to press Windors and R and then type into box EVENTVWR and press enter. I told him I was not comfortable doing this so he immediately put me onto his superviser Probus. I asked for a phone number and said I would call them back to verify everything before I would go any further and he gave me this number 02 8005 4980. Googled the number and found other complaints about this. Before I did hang up Probus was pressuring me to call back immediately and either he or Harry would answer the phone.

- Boss"Help for Windows" has just contacted me with identical behaviour as related by other contributors to date.
Initial caller not identified, but "technical" advisor called himself "Michael".
Telephone number and address match exactly.
From the beginning I was suspicious and made sure I was not connected to the internet during our conversations.
The final request to allow them to perform surgery on my computer was not welcomed and the caller was advised to await further instructions.
A return confirmation call is most unlikely!- Caller: 02 800 54980

- DaveJust had a call from Alyce Watson from "Help for Windows" who spun preety much the same story - As a genuine Windows they are calling everyone in my area who uses windows to advise of an online infection that can't be picked up by any Anti virus/malware/ spyware software. After being told that over 40% of users in my area had made complaints about the infection, they wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the infection and how to get rid of it. When she couldn't (wouldn't) answer any of my questions about how she obtained my name, number, what area I was in and how she was able to identify if I was even a windows user I expresed my doubts about how genuine she was. She then continued to talk over the top of me and insist that I get on the internet and download a file (sorry, didn't record it as I was on the verge of hanging up) I mentioned that I was confident this was a scam and the number, name and brief conversation would be reported to the Police and Microsoft.

- cher dopey| 1 replyCaught off guard usually don't respond to these calls but have flu was on internet at time and allowed them to tamper with my computer. Fortunately had enough sense not to make any payment and said I wished to verify their identity.
Does anyone know what damage they may have inflicked upon my computer?
Girls name was Alice passed me on to Michael and the Technical support computor fiddler was Necole same guys right?- Caller: Help4Windows
- ThinkAboutIt replies to cher dopeyThey could have put a keylogger on your computer, which would enable them to know everything you do on it. They are especially looking for your bank/credit card information and the password you use to access it so they can clean out your account, also your personal tax ID number so they can steal your identity.
Contact your bank etc. ASAP so they can check your account for unauthorized debits, and the office that issued your tax ID so they can make sure nothing is amiss.
Also contact your Internet service provider, and ask if they can run a scan on your computer to check for malware. Don't run a scan with the security system you got from them-it might not be able to remove malware.
Hope this helped. - MargsI had a call from Harry from Help for Windows Nth Sydney. He asked me if my computor was switched on and I asked him how he knew I had a computer. He said it was from the people who sold it to me. He then proceeded to tell me that I had a hacker who was at this moment hacking into my computer and would be able to access all my info. I told him that I believed this to be a scam and he told me that I had to have 'faith'. Then when I told him I thought he was talking rubbish he said that I was like his mother and he wouldn't cheat his mother. That's when I siad we were getting into the realms of fantasy and hung up.

- Jim Faulkner - in Indianapolis, INAdd (Albert -- Indian or Oriental accent) 1-877-491-0562 to equate to this same the Call-Story as above. 5 or 6 call in 3 or 4 days -- with a hangup-upon him by me 5 of the 6 (4 of the 4) times. Said that his website was help4window.us (note the window is singular the operating system by Microsoft is Windows (plural). I do not have Caller ID so the number above is the number he gave me is the number on which to call him back, the the number on a caller ID.
Once he called back right after a hang-up by me and ask "why did you hang up on me".
Real phone numbers or not, put 1-877-491-0562 and 02 8005 4980 into the same dirty bucket.
Jim (jimbizcity@GMAIL.COM) - AdeleWe just had a similar call from some one called Peter - very dodgy- He claimed my computer had problems, when pressed he said their address was 6 Albert St North Sydney. and the company name is Help 4 Windows, I googled the details whilst on the phone then found this site and cut him off.

- KimI also received a call from an Alison Watson, she seemed very genuine and kind on the phone also telling me I had problems with my computor. I got scammed $198.00, when I realized this I quickly rang my bank and was able to cancel the transaction. I had tried to contact them several times with no answer. After a week they realized their transaction was cancelled by me and they were on the phone to me begging me to give them a second chance. I hung up on them. Several phone calls later they gave up.
To everyone out their please do not get involved in a telephone conversation with help4windows, they sound very convincing, just hang up on them.- Caller: help4windows

- Experienced TechA man with a thick Indian accent, reportedly going by the name of Jason Williams, attempted to gain unlawful access to my computer via a failed attempt at social engineering. It just so happens that I own a computer company and as such routinely coach our clients to be aware of scams such as these.
When I pressed this guy for the name of his company, he responded with: Help For Windows
When I asked him where is office is located, he replied: Nova Scotia
I asked him for his office number and he provided: (631)604-4321 although Caller ID was reporting (510) 943-3040
When I asked for his website address he responded: What do you want to do with that? I will answer all your questions.
He tried to convince me that this was a routine call to check up on my computer because all Windows computers have problems.
I persisted with my questioning until he hung up abruptly.
He was very persistent and, unfortunately, we have a number of client that have fallen victim to similar scams.
These guys deserve prison time. I hope they burn for their crimes.- Caller: Help For Windows
