I received a phone call from Sam Adam from Reclaim Expert Department that the bank owed me $5248 and I can get a bank transfer or cheque as long as I contact his manager by the name of Catherine Douglas on 0280057244 and quote this application code RK06. I spoke to Catherine just to find out how the scam is and she was abusive on the phone.  Its totally a scam.

I just recieved a contact from the same number, from the Federal Goverment, indicating that my bank also owed me $5248 and I could get a transfer or Bank Cheque (Confusing part I had a choice of just what banks chéque I would like). Application code VK27, cheque to be delivered by Mark Hill .............. they didnt like being challanged when I was asked to pay a $190 Lawyers fee to the Post Office??!!  Totally a scam!!

At 16:50 I received a phone call from Sam Adam from Reclaim Department (Department of Justice) that the bank owed me $5,248 and I can get a bank transfer or cheque as long as I contact his manager on Monday on 02 8005 7244 and quote the application code RK06. Sam gave his employee ID as ADAM6219.
As previously reported, it's totally a scam.

My friend Gloria got a call from this number from a woman who said her name was Julia Joseph, informing her that the Commonwealth Bank have been overcharging her fees for years and that they owe her $5248 and that she needs to do a Western Union money transfer to their lawyers and then they will have the cheque delivered this afternoon.  When she rang back and told them her lawyer could do the transfer, they hung up on her.  Total Scammers

A woman called my wife about an hour ago and told her that Government owes her more than $5000.  My wife was asked to call 02 80057244 phone number to speak with the manager of the woman and confirm my wife's bank details.  It looks like a scam.

02800XXXX numbers are Skype internet numbers. These call are originating from overseas. The Australian Government would always contact you via mail if they had a monitary issue. Please call the ACCC on 1300302502 if you receive a call from this number.

received call this morning from 02 80057244 Annaleise, said Reclaim Expert Department (Federal Finance)  level 2, Angel Place, 123 Pitt Street, Sydney.  claims I was entitled to funds $. as with all callers had name, birthdate, addresss and wanted to know which bank I mainly dealt with. gave a bogus name for that answer.  I called back, and was advised I would be contacted - was called within 5 minutes. call identifer came up as 'Overseas private caller'.  Therefore confirming to me without a doubt, this is another scam.  I was placed on hold on my call, so I hung up.    the old saying "if it's too good to be true, it often is"

Recieved call 12 September 2012 12:45pm.  Was told his name was "Sam" from "the Reclaim Department"  and that I was owed an amount (over $5000) from over charged bank fees.  I asked what the "Reclaim Department" was and that I had never heard of it.  I asked to call him back and he gave me the number 02 8005 7244.

I got the same call from Julia Joseph, When I told her, I am not sending any money she started to get mad, I hang up. These people should not be able to get away with what they are doing.
I feel for the ones who have actually been scammed.

Same Scam new number. Sam rang with a new telephone number to ring Julia Joseph on (02) 8006 7799. Reference number PT171 to recieve $5,248.72, for money overpaid to electricity and mobile bills .
Sam said he was from the Australian Government and he knew my address. When challenged about sending notification in the mail about  the money, he said it was probably lost in the mail.

He also has a very obvious Indian or Pakisanian accent.

Same scam - first guy said letter sent 18 days ago and when phoning back and making further enquiries they hung up on me. They knew my address.

We had 2 calls in one Retirment Village in one night, that I know of, are they targeting them?
1. Very articulate sounding Indian/Asian callers claiming to work for Aust. government departments offering a credit of thousands of dollars.
The calls were received at around midday and 6pm.
The initial caller gave the resident a “supervisor’s” contact phone number to call (02) 8006 7799 and a Ref Number VC28. After calling this “supervisor’s” number the person informed that the resident that in order to receive the $5,000 in compensation they would need to pay $299.00 in legal fees.
2.The second call offered a solar rebate of $3,000, Niether scammers succeeded!

Telstra needs to step in an shut these scams down

I recieved a call from an asian woman saying exactly the same thing as the above people. I didnt ring the 02 number, i rang office of fair trading, they told me it was a scam to steal my identity. I also sent an email to scamwatch.com.au to notify them.  The asian woman rang me back later and I just said your a scam she yelled No I am not I said yes you are a scam, she hung up on me. The thing is believed her as we are registered with the lawyers who are taking the big banks to court for overcharging on fees etc. so i naturally assumed it was to do with this.I was getting excited ! the lady at office of fair trading said No australian govt. dept will ring, they will always send a letter or email stating that Mr Jones will call you within 7 days or whatever.

I just received the same call from a Frank, same address claiming I have been over charged. I needed to give my date of birth and my bank. I didn't agree, he said if I don't the money will be given to charity. I almost fell for it, too good to be true. He claimed to have all my details and I had to tell him to confirm I was the right person, I didn't. What a scam!

I received a call from an accented individual who claimed he was from the Australian Reclaim Expert Department.  He was very confident and willing to supply what I was asking.  The amount was 4288 with a reference of PT102.  Apparently I had to call his Manager Marvin Green on 02 80073795 to find out when I can collect it.  Being a little suspicious I asked if I could get a number to call him back on.  He gave me his Supervisor number 02 80068248.  I asked for the website for the government department.  He was unable to give one.  Trying to help I searched the web for information and came to this site.  I was baulking at supplying my mobile number but after scanning this site I politely ended the call.  He also slipped up that it was bank fees that were being refunded.  I challenged him on this and he had no response. He also mentioned that it was an internet phone.
