Report a phone call from 02-8005-7806 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Cool55| 1 replyThe caller said he was from "Windows" and my PC needed a licence for the internal software.
He wanted me to allow him remote access via a teamviewer.com web address. When I refused he wanted to know why.
Is this a legitimate call?? How can we let others know about it before all their personal data is open to possible exposure?? - graeme replies to Cool55I received the same call within 24 hours of you. (same calling number)
The technique is described at www.scamwatch.gov.au
cheers,
GG - Ginger| 1 replyHad 4 calls now. ..calling from windows dept of Microsoft in Sydney. Apparently my computer has a virus and will crash anytime now.... I just hang up.

- AJ replies to GingerHad the same scam but with a blocked caller ID.
I played with them for a while and managed to get a phone number from them 02 800 56 133. He said his name was Aaron Dawson but he had a very strong Indian accent.
He calimed that my PC was creating error reports back to microsoft and he was going to fix them.
I asked him which of my 7 PC's had the issue. He couldn't tell me.
How did he get my name and phone number from the error reports? Didn't answer.
Why was Microsoft collecting personal data from my PC? Changed the subject.
On and on and on. I had nothing to do for 20mins so I had some fun.
Next time I will not be as nice. - Paul HoltI got the same message. Sounds like a call centre running this scam.
- JockJust had a call from a so called Victor Joaes from the windows tech department. Indian voice. I asked for his details and he replied that he worked from the NSW office address 2113, phone number 0280057806. Typical scam, I have had 2 now!
- Caller: windows technical department
- ChrisWindows Technical Assistance.... What a golden call... They called my parents place and I happened to be there, so Mum passed the phone onto me... When I said I had Windows 6.1 they had no idea, so I got put onto the supervisor... 12 minutes later he hung up on me with "You are full of bulls#it man, f#$k off"...
- Call type: Prank
- Garry| 1 replyGot the same thing today. Said I would call him back and googled the number straight away. His name was Alton Watson. I told him it was a scam and he wanted to argue the point. Wouldnt you think he would stop when the gig was up. No. Told him he was a F'ing C and hung up.
- Caller: Microsoft Sydney
- Psycho replies to GarryI had the same thing but I recorded the fun I had. Forward to 7:50 if you want to skip the wind up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ1wSabP9kM - AllenGot the same call as you all from same number. Sounds like same Indian guy. Said his name was Allan Wadson.
- AllenHe calimed he was from the Technical Department of MS Windows and that my PC was infected with a virus and was sending hundreds of error reports back to microsoft.I let him talk me into checking the warnings in the administrative events window (under the event viewer in the Computer Management System Tools). He told me this was proof that I had a virus. When I asked him to verify who he was he gave me the telephone # above. I hung up and called back the number - which he answered.
If you get the same call, I'd recommend you report the scam to the ACCC
https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/tag/reportascam/ - Daca| 1 replyI had the same call ten minute ago. He said his name was John Stuart and calling on behalf of Microsoft and gave me this number. I was stupid enough to let him access my computer because I have had some problems recently. How stupid of me ??? He showed me the error messages and said that I did not use Windows Firewall, because my licence expired, then he opened Notepad on my computer and asked me to buy one, three or life licence which had prices attached to it. I said I do not have any money until next Friday and have to speak to my hubby about it. He said he is going to fix the issue for free and call me in an hour to arrange the payment. I switched my internet connection and my cmputer and running the Norton now.
Do not let this guy foul you like he did me. Hopefully he did not do damage to my Computer:-(- Caller: Microsoft Windows
- GaryI was called today at 6pm allegedly from Microsoft support by Ricky Johnson who had a very strong indian accent telling me that my PC was infected and he wanted remote access to help solve the problem. When asked to prove he was indeed from MS he gave me the above number, his name and the id MSW 2407. When I started to ask more questions to ensure his authenticity, he made a very abrupt excuse and hung up.
- SimonHey, this Indian guy with a strong accent is now Called Mike Johnson!!!!
I was suspicious from the get go with him. He gave me an ABN no, 2900589460. This turns up a blank on a search. Don't think I'll be calling him back anytime soon!! I asked him to emil me which he said he couldn't. How strange that microsoft cannot send an email!!!
He said the virus my computer has is a brain virus! errrr.....no!- Caller: 0280057806
- beejayemmHave received five 'phone calls now - two from what sounded like Philipino women, & three from Indian men. As I am a senior & having trouble hearing at times, I kept asking them to slow down, so that I could understand what they were saying, so they were getting exasperated with me, but I might be older, but not thick & stupid (in my opinion anyway) so I was trying to be a pita to them, but find out as much as I could, as we are on the do not call register, which only works with complaints where names & telephone numbers are obtained. Well - both the women hung up when I asked for the number, one man hung up too, the fourth call after I exasperated the first Indian, who said they were in Sydney, he put me onto his supervisor, who, when asked, said they were in Melbourne !!! So that was clever - must have been beamed ! Then when I asked for the number, he hung up. Today, the fifth call & it was Brian Watson of MS Windows Technical Dept, at 0280057806. But I've had enough now - that is not what our telephone is here for, so I will slam it down in their ears, in future !!! Call type: SCAMMERS
- Caller: MS WINDOWS TECH DEPT.
- beejayemmHello again - I am still getting these nuisance calls, even though I've called them scammers when they ring, they swear at me something awful, & then hang up. I've just reported them to the "do not call register" so I'm hoping they will be able to do something about this, to stop it for good. My husband is very ill, so he is disturbed every time the 'phone rings - it's always worse when it's these guys making nuisances of themselves.
