- MatthewA scam. An indian guy pretending to be a lawyer saying that you are being sued for fraud and asking for money. When a real lawyer calls them back, they freak out.
- MattHad the same call from the same number today Indian bloke claiming to be a lawyer sueing me for the sum of 9000
- Rose| 1 replyWho is this calling about Court hearing in Sydney on Friday? Something about James Hall solicitors. I have never heard of them.
- Caller: James Hall Solicitors
- Jono replies to RoseMy wife got a call from this bloke too. When I called "James Hall" it was quite obviously routed to India. He said that my wife had been doing abusive nuissance phonecalls in Sydney and that certain ethnic people wanted to sue her for......I think it was $9600 or something like that. By this stage I knew it was a hoax and I was politely probing for his details. He didn't give away any. Basically I said that we weren't going to be there for the court date (Sydney is 2000km away from us to start with) and that he was quite welcome to send through the papers to our address- which he won't have of course.
It really grinds my gears because she is the most innocent, loving spirit and she didn't deserve this traumatic experience.
Remember, if someone is going to sue you then you will be served with paperwork from a law firm and given a number of weeks and months to present yourself and prepare your defence. Don't give any other details over the phone. People who demand money through deception are evil and you can politely end the call any time you want without repercussion- CHAKLONKY!
http://trace.meebby.com/mobile-number-starts-with-80069663.aspx - KylieI had a call as well from an Indian who had my account details and said that I was due in court. I rang James Hall Solicitors, 'James Hall' answered directly and said he was very 'high-up' and that we owed $9,200 and that I was due in court today.
- Caller: James Hall Solicitor
- David| 1 replyHad exactly the same call re due in Sydney court Thursday - from "James Hall Solicitors on behalf of CPI Global for the National Bank", but the number was 02-8007-4221. We apparently had contracted CPI Global services for a service and they had not been paid. The call was obviously from a call center, much background noise. I asked for Mr James Hall to call me back --- am still waiting!!!!

- MelbourneFamily replies to DavidHi Guys,
These crooks have been calling my house as well - scared my wife quite badly as well given that its a very well researched scam...all the details, addresses and names for the sydney court and 'solicitor' match real people and places - the lady is VERY pushy and has called a few times. Spread the word otherwise someone will be caught out soon.
MelbourneFamily - TimMy wife had exactly the same call as detailed by David, I Googled the name James Hall, and as pointed out by MelbourneFamily all names add up to real people (law firm, link-in), however, the phone numbers given do not match up with the listed numbers of the real firm.
As Jono so rightly puts it:

- SMFeMy mum aged 80 was called by this scum bags assistant today as well. She does not make these decisions without conferring with me so she was sus. The pushy Indian girl rang and said she had solicitor ed CPI Global services did not pay them as she gave incorrect bank details. They were sueing her for $6500.00 she was to ring 02 8007 4221. I rang and spoke to James Hall who spoke to me on speaker phone telling me mum was due in court on Thursday this week (3 days). I asked for the information he gave me a court address etc. When i said this sounds like a scam he said Well you better come with your mum as i am going to sue you as well. He hung up on me when i rang back he just hung up I rang on another number when he realised it was me he hung up again. I have since called and left a message to offer an out of court settlement to see what comes up. Just waiting now for this to unfold.

- DonnaJust had the same call. They claimed to work for the australian federal court and knew my husbands full name, address, and some bank details. Claimed that he was due in Sydney magistrates court in 2 days for fraud due to giving a false bank account number when paying for the services of CPR global direct. When I suggested it was beginning to sound like a scam they became very abusive and threatened to sue me for defamation as well. The contact number which I called after the initial call to find more information was 0280074221, again for a solicitor by the name of Mr. James Hall. I have reported this to scamwatch and also the federal magistrates court. Is there any other useful action I should take?.

- peewee| 2 repliesI received a similar call a few hours ago from a Jazz Smith representing the Federal Magistrate Court in Sydney asking me to front up in court at 10:30am this Friday morning to answer to fraud charges brought up against me by CPR Global represented by a Mr James Hall. When she had difficulty answering my probing questions, she passed the call to a Peter Grisham who stated the same thing but he was rude, aggressive & threatened me with defamation. After a lengthy call to Mr James Hall (02 8007 4221) whereby I asked why wasn't I served a summons by registered mail and that I never had any telephone transaction with CPR Global and never gave them any banking details, he put me on hold & never rang back. He threatened that if I don't appear for the hearing I'll be arrested by the local police & extradited to Sydney & jailed without bail. He also asked me if I needed his help as I was being sued for more than $6,000. Maybe an out-of-court settlement?
I went to my local police station to report this disturbing call and was told by the officer that it was a scam, and that I should ignore such future calls.
A few minutes ago I received a call from a male Indian-sounding voice representing the local police station that two police officers would be coming to arrest me. I was asked to provide him my address!
All these callers had Indian-sounding voices but with Anglicised names!
Hope this helps! Beware!- Caller: Officer of the Australian Federal Court on behalf of Mr James Hall, solicitor

Bogus TPS Calls
The Telephone Preference Service is completely free to consumers.
TPS will not call a subscriber of the service to ask for personal details or payment to complete a registration.
If you have registered via the web and have received an e-mail confirmation and clicked on the attached link, that's it! Your number will be registered for FREE with TPS.
We will not contact you again in relation to your registration (unless you have number(s) registered with the Corporate TPS, where we will contact you annually by email to renew your subscription - this is still a free service).
If you do receive a call from someone claiming to be from the TPS or a similar sounding organisation, asking for personal information or charging you for this service, our advice is to not pay or give them any personal details, it is most likely a scam.
We are aware of a number of organisations that call from overseas, possibly India claiming to be TPS or affiliated with TPS or BT. They ask for your credit card details to complete a registration to stop unwanted calls. They often claim that you previously gave your permission for this call. This is a scam. Never give out your credit card details over the phone.
The names of some of these organisations, given to us by consumers are:
Alien Touch
SAIS Corp Ltd
Icon Global Services
IG Services
ITC
Biztek (or Bisdek) Telecomms
Consumer Advice Bureau
- our advice is NOT to pay them.
Beware of Unregulated Companies Charging For Their Service! <<<<<<<<<<££££
There are other companies that are not necessarily scams but they are not TPS. They usually claim to offer a similar or even an enhanced service to TPS.
They make exaggerated claims about the effectiveness of their service and may even suggest that TPS does not work.

For land-line phones re-setting the default to ring silent and program only known numbers in your numbers book to ring audibly. - Rossini replies to peeweeFriday 9/2/2013 12.30pm, I had the same call from an Indian accent woman ( Jazz Smith ) saying I have been sued by CPR Global Direct for an unpaid debt and to ring James Hall on 02 80074221 as my court hearing is on Monday at 10.30 am in Federal Magistrate Court,Sydney .When I asked how come there is no prior notification, she said it was sent in Nov'2012 but I did not receive anything. It should have "clicked" that it could be a scam, nevertheless, I was concerned & wants to get to the bottom of this alleged debt. When I rang 02 80074221, the line sounds like echo in a tunnel, someone answered and the line dropped off , so I let it slipped.
Two hour later the same accent woman rang back, she rattled on the same and I told her I can't get through to James Hall and for her to put through to him. Then another person came on the line, did not identified himself initially but when asked said his name is Peter Grisham, told me James Hall is on another line but Jonathan Kirk is also familiar with my case and can tell me more...and suddenly, James Hall is available and he knew my name and address and said if I don't attend the court hearing the judgement will be against me...lots of threats, playing on the uneducated mind. When I said I do not owe CPR Global Direct anything, he said " maybe you are old and do not remember. " Then I asked is he recording the conversation without my knowledge as it is an offence to do so , and added for all I know, it could be a SCAM, ...he replied " so you are teaching me the law now" and hung up.
It is disgusting that these people have no conscience and don't care who they hurt and the elderly are most vulnerable. They must be stopped. They certainlly spoilt my day and a perturbed mind can't think straight..unfortunately, my wife cop it , lucky for me she is understanding! - Gavini got a call today from a very hard to understand Indian woman. She claimed she was from the Sydney Federal court and that i had a court case on tomorrow (i live in Melbourne so no chance even if it was true) were i will be sued for unpaid services from 6 years ago and that i needed to contact James Hall the lawyer in charge at CPI Global on (02) 80035219.
At the time i was meant to have used the service i was in hospital in a coma and after getting James Halls message bank i searched on google and found this page.
Stuff these morons trying to take other peoples money and spread the word to friends and family.
It was also a giveaway as they called on my home number and i never use or give this out.
Thank you everyone for posting on this site it has helped.- Caller: Sydney Federal Magistrates Court
- CatherineMy mother received a call from Jason Price or Pride on 13/05/13 saying that she was being sued for fraud and that she had to appear in the Federal Circuit Court in Sydney. She was given a number for a Mr Raymond Wilson 02 6176 1158 to call. I called this number on her behalf and was eventually put through to a Mr Raymond Wilson and he stated that yes she was being sued for fraud as she subscribed to CPR Global (a Sydney based company) and she provided them with false information re: her bank details. When I probed him on why she was only notified two days before the hearing he would not give any more details and said my mother must call him back Raymond also knew my mothers address and who she banked with. When my mother received the initial call from Jason he knew her bank details and told her that they had frozen her bank account and pension. We went to the bank and this is untrue. Jason also gave the following numbers as contacts 02 8007 4221 & 02 8006 6974. Both Jason and Raymond had very thick foreign accents and were very hard to understand. We also went to our local police station to report. We were told by the police that if anyone calls back to tell them that matter had been reported to the Qld Police. I have also reported on SCAM Watch.
I am hoping that this will be the end of it all.- Caller: Sydney Federal Circuit Court
- CLAIRE NORMANI received a call from a man at 12 this afternoon claiming that I was being sued by a company called CPR Global, I was told to ring 02032892964 to speak with a Raymond Wilson as he is the solicitor. He told me that I was to be in court on 09/09/13 to be sued for the sum of £2500 and he wanted to know what I was going to do about it. I told him I wasn't going to do anything about it until I had spoken to my local police about it, he then became aggressive about it and said make sure you are in court on Monday before putting the phone down on me. I was very upset by this and police have told me that this is a scam and after extensive research today I am also satisfied that this is a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do not give these people any details.
- Mrs CrispJust got a call, started out with a lady claiming to be from 'federal magistrates court Sydney' and James Hall had been asked to sue me by CPR global because I took their services to stop telemarketing and nuisance calls. Said I never heard of them, never asked anyone for any such service. Knew straight away something was up because they had my address slightly wrong, used my maiden name and said I had given my Westpac bank account which is now closed. I kept arguing with her, asked her to spell her name, she put me through to her 'senior' person, a guy whose name I didn't get.
He then tried the same thing, I asked when I was supposed to have used the services, at the same time I was searching online for CPR Global and James Hall. I found a release for the SA government and started reading it aloud to him. I said I was going to call the police and he said 'F@%# the police' I said pardon and he said it again. I called him a [***], said good luck suing me and hung up on him. Then rang local police station and reported it.- Caller: CPR Global

- StuSame deal as all above, started with a call from an Indian lady who said I was being sued by CTR Global and had to contact Mr James Hall on 02 8091 4749. I must say this woman was persistent, she had rang two times before and my wife hung up on her.
I rang Mr Hall and my call was answered by someone who said he was in a meeting and to call back in 15min. 10min later this guy rang back and said Mr hall was ready and he would have to put me on hold while he transferred me. Then I talked to Mr hall who stated all the things others have written and that I was due in magistrates court in two days in Sydney. I said that wouldn't happen as I lived in Melbourne and he said I would be arrested if I wasn't there. I then told him to send me all correspondence via registered mail and I would pass it on to my solicitor then he hung up on me. Oh, the woman who rang in the first place said they had sent me something (which they had not) and had not heard from my solicitor. I reported it to my local police and will be calling Scamwatch tomorrow to report it to them. Seems these people have been getting away with this for a long time, although he never had a chance to tell me how much I owed they obviously have scammed people to still be trying to pull it off. They knew my address and who I bank with...- Caller: James Hall
