- Andrew replies to megI had the same call from multiple people of an Indian accent begging for access to my PC to remove malicious software. They gave there number as 0280144592 - Global Computing in the USA and that they where support for Microsoft.
Well they are not. They are trying to gain entry to your PC to strip of any passwords available... banking details, accounts, access to anything you have, Facebook etc..
It is a fraud.
I told them I work for Microsoft Security and they kept talking over me, pleading for access. Was quite comical.
But it is FRAUD so beware.
I asked to speak to there boss and which I did and told him I was running a phone trace on there line, he immediately hung up - hehe - Grant| 1 replyReceived a phone call from and Indian sounding bloke calling himself 'Richard' of a Microsoft subsidiary company called 'Desksense'.
He said that my home computer needed fixing to prevent persons hacking into it. He gave the return number of 02 80144592.
I am concerned that he was attempting to gain information to banking details- Caller: Desksense
- Alan Sharp replies to megCheck the Microsoft link below, as this as a scam I have had 2 calls the same over the last 2-3 months. Be very careful and give them nothing!!

He continued to call me back a number of times while I was having lunch & doing other things & when I finally answered him he went into hes speel of Hello Im Adam Watson blah blah to which i promptly replyed no your not & if you dont stop calling me I will call the police because all your doing is scamming people of money!! They are only after your money so do not listen to them, do not believe them, tell all your friends.- Call type: Prank
- Garth PI just got a call from a dodgy call from a company called Desksense, the caller stated that he was representing Microsoft and that Desksense had received log files which had alerted his company that there were problems with my PC.
What annoyed mne was that he had my name, address and phone number, so
The caller was very persistent, I expalined to him that I have been in IT for over 20 years and was suspicious about the call. He directed me to the www.desksense.com for proof of the company bonafides.
I said to him that I could set up a similar web site as some sort of proof and was not convinced, hung up on him.
I asked him which version of Windows I was running, which he should have been to tell me if he had received any error reports from the O/S. Naturally he couldn't, which made me even more suspicious, he then tried to turn around my question and find out what I was running.
This a scam, hang up straight away and definitely don't give them access to your computer.- Caller: Desksense
- Lethal LeighDesksense makes no sense at all. The only thing this company helps you with is to your own hard earned dollars. Don't be tricked like I was. Mind you, I have Asian friends but if they were of Desksense then I wouldn't need enemies that's for sure.
- Caller: Desksense
- Lethal Leigh replies to GrantSame same buddy. I too where scamed by these Asians at Desksense and ever though they agree to refund me my money, I'm still waiting.
- NinaLooks like these fellas are persistent!!! The "new company" is now System Assist, based in Perth (mind you their area code is 02!). My husband and I were thrilled that they hired "Peter Gabriel" as IT support!!!!
Really really dodgy!!!! - NinaDodgy calls from IT Support for Microsoft under the company "System Assist"
- Rohan| 1 replyOn Saturday evening (6 Aug 11) I got a call from an unidentified number along the lines fo the above calls, asking me to turn on my computer and they would help me fix a problem. I asked what the probelm was - they would not tell me. I asked if I could call back at a more convenient time (only after I had done some basic web searches). 'Charlie' tha caller was very slow to give me a phone number, eventually giving me 0280053366 - which shows up as a possible carpety cleaning business but no in the white pages.
- Caller: claiming to be Microsoft online support or similar
