Received a fax from this number claiming to be from "Who's Who Among Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs in Australia" Magazine... I need to fill out business & personal details and fax back to (02) 8088 7366 Fax ID: 238488551... Googled, and I can't seem to find this magazine anywhere...

Possible phone scam.

I received a fax from Jennifer Rivera stating that

"We are pleased to inform you that you and your business have been selected to be included in the 2009 Edition of Who's Who Among Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs in Australia".

The fax went on to mention that my candidacy was approved on May 8th and that they needed me to verify my information so that it could be published.

The fax requested the following information:
Name
Organiation Name
Street Address
Business Phone
Mobile
Home Phone
Email
Website
Type of Business
Major Product/Service

Once again,I googled and found nothing about this magazine except this website.

Yep, as above, received fax invitation asking for details listed by Angela in last comment.
  Googled, found nothing of any substance, apart from it being a scam where eventually they hit you for money to be included in their publication.
  What happens to your details and who they might pass them on to or sell is what worries me the most

I received a fax same as those above.

This is definitely suspect.  Apart from the publication name, which is far too long to be real, there is no mention of the actual corporation name, ABN, phone number, etc. I am staying clear.

PS: I have not done anything special, so cant see why I have been specifically selected, considering I work part-time, and have the smallest client base.

I have now received two of these faxes exactly one week apart.  So I checked the number (0280887366) by ringing back and it's the campus of a TAFE in Western Sydney.  The person on the switch was very helpful (if somewhat mystified) and we established there is no Jennifer Rivera listed there.  A quick Google ("Jennifer Rivera" Who's Who) revealed this is a scam that operates in the US, Canada and now Australia.  I hope this information is helpful

I got the same fax this morning and thought it looked sus. Good to have my misgivings backed up though.

Should it be reported to Telstra?

Gee.. this Jennifer Rivera is not very popular here. I just received the fax as well.. and was wandering WHICH publication it is.. It sounds all top-notch and all. But as above, googled.. and found this. Guess its going in the bin then! Cheers for the posts!

Yes, we received the same.
It has to be a con. I'm sure she will just sell your details to as many people as she can.

Well considering I am broke and don't really do any work other than going to collect my cheque every fortnight, I thought what a great opprtunity to be famous and known for doing multi million dollar business deals without actually putting in the effort. Well I guess if it sounds too good to be true....you know the rest...

Received as a FAX, obviously a scam, BUT
The FAX number is known.

Cannot someone chase the "Owner" of this FAX number and follow up....OR
Is the Australian government/Telstra etc too weak to take action?

Got a fax this morning about being selected for this magazine.  Fax number 02 8078 6030.  If I've been selected how come they don't know my name?  Weird.

I recieved the same fax, but from Jennifer Collins(editor)

Adelaide - Received the same fax today (3rd Aug 2009) from Jennifer Collins - asking to fax completed company details to 02 8078 3060 - an obvious scam as no contact information apart from Fax number was given.

Ararat, Victoria - Received same fax as Sheryl.

that uses Comic Sans font, which asks to:

Googled it and West Wylong Publis School
has the same Fax No. ? ? ?

The real publication is made in Melbourne for a start! And is produced in April!

Mine was from a Jennifer Collins

Same as John above, I recieved a fax from an 02 69028391.  Signed Jennifer Collins.  Obvious a scam as we are a family not business.
