Scammer trying to get your details. There's no bank refunds guys! Use your brain!

I received a call today trying to convince me that the goverenment is refunding over charged fees.

Received one of these calls last night saying I was entitled to a refund from the Dept of Finance re bank charges, & only just having dealt with Centrelink applications I thought this was legitimate. I was nearly sucked in when she gave me this number to call back today and a reference number to quote, but luckily I was wary enough not to give out my details when she asked for information she should have already known.

call purporting to be from Aust. Fed. Govt. advising that I was entitled to $7300 as refund of overcharged bank fees .. as if.
And then requiring bank details ..  you would think that my bank would know my account number. Do not get sucked in

Indian lady claiming to be from the Reclaim department of the Australian Government.  She asked for my contact details.  She gave her manager's details as Peter Clark on 0280913550.  It was obviously a scam call

the same thing has happened to me why dont these people get a real job instead of scamming others

Just received call as above today. Rang back was told she was on another call and ring back in 20 minutes. Glad I googled the number. They had my address. I was wary enough to say I'd have a cheque thanks. Very suspect. Won't be ringing back.

Get a call from No Caller ID to claim I am one of the lucky few for a refund from the Australian Federal Govt for over seven grand....  Yeah sure as if I have even paid that much in bank fees etc..... So this person of Indian persuasion asks if I want direct deposit or cheque, So obviously I choose cheque just to run with the prank...  Then asks what bank would you like the cheque to come from, Comm Bank, Westpac, NAB etc...   I said, I don't care...   So they nominate Commonwealth Bank.    They give me the managers to call back, a Miss Rose Brown or a Mr Peter Clark on 02 8091 3550.    So when I ring that number also from a 'No Caller ID' phone I do not get an answer..... hmmm...   I think Prank Call.

Received a call at lunchtime informing me of $7000 refund from Fed Gov. Oh how lovely - as if! I played along, curious to see at what point I'd be asked for bank details. So I took the cheque option, was given an application number plus phone no of his managers Lois Brown and Peter Clarke. I was to call them. No answer on that number. I chatted to a family member (a cop) who looked up the number and told me about the comments on this page. Guess what? The guy (sounded Indian) has just called me again - 4pm. I told him he was a scammer and to google the phone number himself - read what people are saying about him and his Gov refunds. I made no effort to hide my anger. Told him not to call me again or use any of my details.

Have rec same phone call Opted for Bank Chq though he (Daniel Smith) had already had all my details on file just needed a birth date to confirm for security reasons,gave him a made up date of birth so we will see how he goes. He gave me a ref no to quote the next morning when I call his Department Managers of  the Finance Department after 1030 in the morning and they will confirm and send a chq to me within 48hrs

Recieved a call telling me I have been overcharged in fees from bank and was entitled to a $7268 refund from the federal govt. AS IF!!! I was to call 02 80913550 and ask for Rose Down or Keith Renkinafter 11 am in the morning and quote a cheque ref no.  Looked up this sight and just as I suspected it is a scam.

Got a call today from 0280913550 to advise that I got a refund for over AUD 7.000,00 for bank overcharge. The names given to me to call on monday morning 23.2. were Mrs. Rose Brown and Ms Alice Wilson.

Also called by an Indian gentleman from an Overseas number, ostensibly from the Reclaims Department of Federal Govt, stating I was entitled to  $7268 in refunds for bank fee overcharges. Being suspicious I opted for a cheque, gave a street address, a false forename, and little else. Rang this number (0280913550) back as requested, and when Rose Brown answered, I asked for her street address,  Shame, she hung up.
Now reporting it to Scamwatch and my Bank.
Breaks the monotony, doesn't it?

I said I would take it as a cheque so was given this number 0280913550 and a reference number. Was told that the managers name was Rose Brown and Allison Wilson and I was to call the number and a cheque would be organised to be sent to my address.

As per all the other comments above, my mother called me after receiving a phone call like this, this morning. "The Australian Federal Government" owed her $7268 in bank over charges. They told her as soon as she hung up to call 02 8091 3550 and speak to Alice Wilson or rose brown to organise the refund cheque. Very lucky I have a mother that doesn't beleive anything is ever owed to her.

i have had 2 calls the same in 2 days.  Same as everyone else.  They gave me a ID number and told to speak to Alice Wilson and Rose Brown. Glad I decided to google the phone number  Surprising though to think how many people actually get sucked in.

call from Australian Financial Services saying you are entitled to a refund for overcharged bank fees. Asked to call back and speak to Manager Rose Brown or Alice Wilson so the refund could be organised.
I called back saying i knew it was a scam they hung up on me.

got a call saying i was to get 6321 from fredial gov bank

Received call supposedly from Telstra claiming our internet service had been tampered with and computer was downloading viruses; asking me to go online so they could talk me through how to fix it.  Dodgy!!
