I had a call this morning from a foreign person (male) who identified his company as 'BANK RECLAIM EXPERTS' claiming to work for an Australian Government Department.  My call display indicated that the call came from overseas but the caller insisted that he was telephoning from NSW.  He gave his address as 'Locked Bag 4777,Surrey Hills. He would not provide information regarding what Government Department had 'commissioned' them or who employed him stating that 'that was none of my business'.
He claimed that 'the' bank had contacted his company and were ready to repay me the amount of $3014.00 in wrongly charged fees.  All I needed to do was to supply him with the name of my Bank (no other details) and then to call a Customer Call centre to supply additional details, in order to claim my money.  He was although, unable to tell me with which Bank I had incurred these fees.
He stated that my options for receiving the money owed to me (within 1 - 3 hours) was, after paying a nominal fee, would be:  
 -  a deposit directly into my bank account, or,
 -  to collect the money from a Post Office.
The customer call number provided to me was:  02 809 15007 (NSW) or 2800 56593 (supposedly toll free)
I have not as yet telephoned either of these numbers.
(I did mention that I had never incurred overdrawn fees or charges to my knowledge, just basic fees, and certainly nothing in the vicinity of $3014.00)

I also received call from this  male  just over 1 hr ago a bit suspicious as he could  not tell me name of my bank, wanted my details i politely did not oblige has anyone else had these calls from bank reclaim experts 2 phone numbers given to me are; 0280056593 & 0280915007

his morning 25th of June 2010, answered my home phone waited for about 10 seconds before I got a male voice..asked this person are you calling from overseas..he said No NSW.He said he is from Bank Reclaim Experts and that they have find $3,114 for me.My gut feeling that this is a CON kicked in.Asked him,Which bank have you found this money, him getting abit annoyed and him telling me his reason of his call to me again. Asked for his name Markas Jones and he gave me 2 "toll free numbers" 0280056593,  0280915007. I said if you have found reclaimed money for me you should have the details of the bank.He said West Pac, I have never dealt with this bank, he was getting very annoyed, and asked for my mobile number, I said why you need my mobile number? don't you need my birth details to confirm who I am for me to "reclaim" my Money?He was getting very annoyed ,I was speaking to him in a calm voice, but feeling this is a con, thank God for my gut feeling. Told him will ring back. Then went to look up this company on-line.Read up on this site, and thank God I did.

I was the silly one who paid $144 to the post office via western union form to ankur chopra in delhi india because of some reason about government putting tax payment into charity and I would have $3647 paid into my bank account within 15-20 min.Well the man claiming to be from the reclaim experts Marvin Green (indian), on the phone number 0280037318 i wish i looked it up first :( single mum of three was hoping for it to be a non scam

hi..my is dev and i have received a call from 02-80915007. the person told me that he is calling from bank reclaim experts. he told tha the commonwealth bank has over charged me, so that's why they are calling me to recliam ($3,150) the money.
i felt, he was lying and said the is on the behalf on australian federal gov. he ask me to go to the post office and get western union money receiving and sending form, then he asked me to send them $281 administration fee, which is refundable with the actual amount..

I am a Special Constable and I work for the Australia Council for the Arts located in Surry hills. I am preparing a report for the Police in New Delhi with a view to these impersonators being caught by the Police there. I am collating information and am trying to pinpoint account details and account names these impersonators are using. This may assist the Indian Police with their investigation. YEs i also recived this anonmous call just now and want to report it and spoke with a lady name Angel Smith who advised me that i have got $3114.00 and they were calling from Australian Council and said that all i have to do is go to the post office fill out some forms and take my ID with me and pay $281.00 for the admin fee than the money will be refunded back in to my acocunt.....i just wantt to know if this is a Scam becuase if there is money there for me i want to knw how to claim it...

they also advised that there address was 4777 locked bag, Strawberry hills, NSW 2012 and there phone numbers were 0280056593 and 0280915007 than a guy name marcus came on the phone and said that they are a real company and i advised that this is bu***hit and advised them to not call this number again but they insited that there is money there and they want to put that money inmy acocunt today...so please find out who these people are as they were very irate and i was irate back...

Just had the same call. Marcus Lee calling from NSW....Same phone numbers and address as above. He wanted the mobile number and me to send him $301 which was totally refundable. How stupid do they think people are?

About an hour ago, I had recieved a phone call from an Indian/Asian speaking male who called me by name and even stated my address and said his name was Mike Johnson.

Like the majority of reports listed, he said the same thing - he represented a company called "BANK RECLAIM EXPORT" and that I had $3014.00 waiting for me to collect due to bank fees and overcharged fees from my bank. To test him I asked him, which bank I banked with, and there was a slight pause.  I knew automatically that this was a scam, but I wanted to get more details from him. He gave me two phone numbers to call to discuss how I could claim back the money, the numbers were - "02 80056593" and "02 80915007".  He also mentioned that there will be an administration fee of $218.00, but this will be covered after I call either numbers above and to discuss how I could claim back the money. I then told him I will call the numbers and will see if this is true.  I then, googled the numbers and came up with this site, and as I was just typing up the report, my phone rang again, and it was "Mike Johnson" calling to see if I had contacted the "claim centre".  I asked him, where he was calling from, and he said NSW, I also asked him, if there was a head office that I could contact and he said that the head office was based out in Surrey hills, and due to the high volume of customers it would be impossible for me to reach anybody.  Without any further hesitation, I told him that I knew he was a scam and that he needed a real job. He got frustrated and angry, swore at me and hung up.
What I'm shocked about is the fact that he knew my first and last name and knew my address.

This is a total scam and I have warned my family about this.

Yep-me too this morning. Same numbers and address by some indian chap on a bad line telling me to fork out $301 to access $3114 supposedly belonging to me somehow? Western Union being the bank that i needed 2 claim forms from???

As above I got a call about 1/2 hr ago, said his name was Trevor Jones, he wanted me to pay $252 for a "refundable" admin fee when I am claiming back my $3114 at the post office and to tell the post office it was a personal transaction not a bank transaction as I would be taxed on it. (nice touch). I started googling the postal address - same as above - and found nothing. I phoned the number as mentioned above and got a guy who could not tell me the name of his company until I practically had to squeeze it out of him. I told him I wanted to check this out before I did anything and he offered me his abn:38392626187

this number belongs to scam artists... in India.

claiming they are from "Bank Reclaims Experts" or "Australia Council" - they are from neither of these places.

HANG UP - GIVE NO DETAILS - YOU HAVE NO MONEY OWING TO YOU - ITS ALL LIES TO GET YOUR MONEY......

this people call me yestrday saying that we from Australian Government in NSW .They call themselve Recliam experts . that i have money to colleclt from the bank .to collect this money you have to pay $301 as fees .this amount are refundable money

I also had a call last night from such a person claiming to be Jack also telling me the same story and that I had a Westpac account with some monies outstaning to me from years ago - how ever when I asked what bank the fees were from and they said Westpac however I dont have a wespac account and never have! They told me it was $3140.00 and the fee was $160.00 paid per the post office and then I would receive the funds.  I smelt a rat................ the names used was Shawn Forster and the number is 02 8006 0453 Level 2, 26 Lee Street, Sydney NSW.  These people need to be caught and dealt with the police.

I received a call like all those above and was given the  number 0280037318 to ring back. When I asked the caller for a "publicly listed number" to call back on, he just hung up. Always ask for this - I do even when it sounds legit. I rang with scamwatch (www.scamwatch.gov.au) to report this and it appears this is happening a lot right now. Apparently, if you go along with it they ask you to go to the post office and send the fees using Western Union - the call comes from New Dehli. What Australian agency or company would ask for that? Its a good idea if you get hit with this call to contact scamwatch. I think the enforcement agencies take over these numbers and put warning messages on them instead of letting them redirect to off shore. They must be catching people otherwise this would stop.

Just had the same call. $3114 dollars waiting. Post office, money order $281 refundable etc etc. The male caller gave a Melbourne number; 03 90280018 which needless to say lead nowhere. stupidly I did give them my mobile number (just woke up from night shift, brain not fully engaged) Oh well many more calls from Mumbai to look forward to now

have just reported these fools to the ACCC as if im going to hand over my hard earned cash to an Indian bloke named John Derby, recommend that everybody report them so these fools get CAUGHT...

I am in QLD and just received the same phone call with the same phone numbers above from the reclaim experts in NSW. The phone number given is 02 8003 7318. Now his name is John Watson and he has a $2145.00 cheque to be delivered by Mr James Church from Fed Ex due to the large amount. He is doing better research now and gives details of Banks and Accounts you have used. He told me the money was refunds from Commonwealth Bank for our closed home loan. To recieve this money, I had to go to the post office and deposit $144.00 into an account he would supply when I got there. He would stay connected and talk me through it. He has called back twice now to see when I will get to the post office. Luck I have Whooping Cough and cant go into public as I am contagous. I rang the office of Fair Tading NSW, they have recieved several complaints from NSW but I was the first they recieved from QLD and they state it is a scam. Reclaim Experts are now going interstate.

On Friday the 2nd of July, I received a call from Marcus on this number. My experience was much the same as those I've read on this thread. Marcus told me that he was ringing from Bank Reclaim Experts and that he was acting on behalf of the Australian Federal Government and that I had $3114 in payed fees owing to me. He then told me there was just the matter of the small, fully refundable administration fee of $300 and asked how soon I could be at the post office. When I said i wasn't sure if I'd get to the post office that day, he began pressuring me by saying that if i did not make the claim that day I would lose 40% of the amount I was supposedly owed. I then said that I didn't think I even had $300 and he said "Don't worry. Go and borrow it off a friend or family member. You'll have it back today anyway and I want you and your family to have a great weekend." (How shameful?!)
He gave me an address for Bank Reclaim Experts as Locked Bag 4777, Strawberry Hills, Sydney, NSW 2012, as well as two toll free numbers 02 8091 5007 and 02 8005 6593.
I ended the phone call giving the impression that I was going to go ahead with the deal. I then made some phone calls and discovered the awful truth that these were scammers. I took it upon myself to phone Marcus back and attempt an appeal to his most likely non-existent conscience. I told him I wasn't going ahead because I had discovered that the operation wasn't legitimate and that he and his colleagues should really think about what they're doing because it isn't right. He just kept up the charade insisting that they were acting on behalf of the Australian Federal Government and that there were a lot of others doing the wrong thing but that they weren't one of them.
i am disturbed that these people can operate like this, that they had my details and that there seems to be little being done to stop this happening.
According to Scam watch, this "company" is off-shore and little can be done to prosecute them. Perhaps the chance of criminal proceedings is slim but surely something can be done to rectify the situation that exists to allow this to happen to hard-working, hopeful Australians. For example, is there not some way of barring payments into this account from the Western Credit Union? There is obviously a loophole somewhere that is facilitating this exploitation. It needs to be found and fixed before anyone else gets ripped off.
