I keep getting calls from 0281981100
It disconnects after 2 rings
When I try to call it back I'm told the number has been disconnected

I keep getting calls from 0281981100 as well and its really starting to piss me off I want to know who the hell it is. I get the same response as Matt Luff when i call the number (this number is diconnected)

Hey Matt Luff and anybody else who has had calls from (0281981100) I found out who it is, they rang me and they actually spoke to me and it is those people from (Sportsbet.com) or (sportingbet.com) wanting to know when I'm going to deposit money into my account.

I keep getting these calls as well from this number and I am also really pissed. Interesting about sportsbet.com etc as I have an account with bet ezy and xtradiv which are two online betting sites, wonder if there is a connection

I keep getting calls from this number too but i dont have a sportsbet account??? I'm sick of it they ring me nearly every day!

I also get called from this number everyday if I answer it disconnects & if I call it says the number is disconnected. Someone told me it could be a scam so keep an eye on your phone bill. I hope it's not the case.

I keep getting called from 02 8198 1100 as well, but when I have called back there is a message that says that Optus regrets this number is disconnected. It is pissing me off as they are calling up to 3 times a day.

iI have got a call from this number everyday for the last 4 days and yesterday twice it really is annoying

Yeah I have had 6 calls from the number as well. just block it on your phone and forget about it.

I've been getting calls from this number for a while too.  Usually it shows up as a missed call because it's during the day but being home today I answered.  No response and when I rang from my mobile and landline I got the 'Optus regrets' blah blah blah.  Is there any way of blocking this number from calling?

I got a missed call from this number too. Didn't leave a message. It hangs up before MSG BOX kicks in.

I got a call today a few minutes ago, felt it strange to get a call from an unknown number, because my number is private and only new, so only friends and a few businesses have it. The phone only rand about 3 times, to quick before  I could get to it or the answering machine could answer.
After reading this I won't try calling back, or answering in future, prob some telemarketing computer checking which numbers are active, and also what times of day people answer so their reps know when to call and catch someone at home.

I have received this call for the last 2 days, first time my partner answered and they asked for me, i wasnt there so they hung straight up, last night i answered and they hung straight up, when calling it back says is disconnected, have lodged a trace on my line with telstra.

I've had calls from this number as well but never answered. If you guys are saying it's sportsbet, there's a good chance if you're a member of a footy team they would have sold your details to them.

Further to my last post I found the following link, I think all this is saying though is it sounds link a generic number maybe that VOIP providers use for outgoing calls, so really it could be multiple customers using the same company for VOIP, even if this is a system outage fault notice.

Adam Internet technicians are currently investigating an issue effecting customers with caller disabled, or have requested a private number. Customers may experience incorrect caller id when making a call. Instead of a Private Number, the number '02 8198 1100' maybe shown.

Calls will still route correctly, and audio is still correct, however, an incorrect caller id is shown.

UPDATE 2009-05-11 11:00: We are continuing to investigate this issue, and have escalated the case through our upstream provider.

received phone call at 12 noon the 15th may 09. Caller hung up as soon as i answered. My phone company also says the number is disconnected. So its still happening.

every day they call and hang up. Never leave a message. My number is a work mobile and is not listed. I am definietly not a member of Sportsbet or any similiar group... How do we stop these calls....

its really pissing me off, every time this number calls and wen i answer they hang up straight away ,its really annoying me

these people are so annoying i want to call them and hang up like they do why is it when i try to call them back the message i get is the number you have called is disconnected how do they keep the same number everytime they call me even though it tells me the number is not in use?

I've had a missed call from this number every day this week, and again, it is disconnected when I ring it back.  Very annoying!
