i missed the call from it today and yesterday and on monday

Just got one. No idea.

My husband and I have also received them and there's no answer on the other end.  We found out though that there's a new rule where telemarketers can now call you on your mobile and you'll get charged for it, so we don't answer calls from numbers we don't know anymore.

ive keep getting hounded by this number and im getting sick of it.

I have had this num call constantly for the past 2 weeks. What is the go? NO one there when i answer.

After noting 2 failed attempts to contact me in the last few days from this number, today I picked up the call.

A woman (with an accent) claimed to be from Optus, thanking me for my loyalty and wanting to review my plan (of which I have none, as I have a pre-paid mobile and top up with credit).  

Rest of the conversation went something like this:

Her: To make sure I'm talking to the account holder, I need to ask you a few questions.  Is your name Mr [my name]?
Me: No, it's *Ms* [my name]  (can't she tell she's talking to a woman??)

Her: Is your number [my mobile number]?  
Me: Yes

Her: For security purposes, we need you to give us your date of birth
Me: No.
Her: But we need it to confirm your identity.  I have it here in front of me, I just need you to confirm it.
Me: I am not going to provide that information.  *You* called *me*. How do I confirm you're really from Optus?

She said she was noting I didn't want to provide the information and terminated the call.

my call was very similar, claimed to be from optus, said something about a new prepaid plan availiable only to optus customers, wanted to verify my name and number which i agreed to, but i got suss when asked for my DOB, so i asked if i can just check on the website and change the plan by myself.
he said yes  and i hung up on him. but there was no new prepaid plan on the optus website IT WAS A LIE! oh and the call took a few seconds to connect, i was repeating 'hello?' a few times before they started talking , with an indian/[***] accent. ( aren't they always? )

Keep missing calls from this number, yet when i return the call it says its switched off or not available.

I have programed the number as a prank caller.
and from reading the comment about optus I had same questions, however I told them I thought it was a scam for identity theft and they also told me to go to an optus shop. Now I get about 1 to 3 calls a day from the prank caller number. hence me trying to find out online who they are.
I will give the number to the next optus shop I pass by.
just hope its not a scam where they can steal credits from each call. as well as the poor buggers who dont wake up to these calls and give them the information they want. and I am sure there are heaps of people who do.
just hope it can be stopped. I have been asleep for several of these calls. and been woken up by them.

I just had two missed calls from this number today, after looking at what everyone's saying bout this number i added it to my reject list.

Recieved the call today tried to call back, has a weird ring tone at the start then goes normal but no one answers.

Yeah i got one too, I'm waiting for a really important call so i reversed the phone lookup and found all these complaints how dodgy. I only had a missed cal5
